Wow, these patches are insane. Make the Summit sound like anything from a DX7 to a Prophet to an Oberheim. Some even evoke the mojo of the Emulator II....
The biggest downfall of how they marketed this keyboard is a lack of emphasis on preset sounds. Until I heard this set I was unconvinced this keyboard had such depth. Too many people demoed droning ambient soulless noises on it that are readily available on just about every modern synth. Novation needs to demo more of this boards preset sounds. In terms of design concept it’s very good and solid.
Now i have to wait a few years until the usedw price drops a bit. But I will buy one some day. It is a fuckin beast. And the patches are just phenomenal. Nice work. Update 2yrs later: Just ordered a brand new. With the new 2.0 patch it is a must have. :)
It's a fantastic synth. The original crop of presets are pretty much crap. You have to really dive in. There is just something about the filters on this thing and how they can be overdriven both post and pre. It can sound really biting, nasty, and powerful if you know what you're doing. Very, very few other synths can sound this tough out of the box. Don't underestimate it. I actually have a Peak, but same thing, effectively.
Sounds really nice! I like your improv style too - you're playing the exact sort of thing I would with each of those patches. I love how 'Analog' many of them sound. There's this big narrative online about how many first-owner Peak buyers have sold them on because the Peak "sounds too cold/digital".... I personally don't hear it! Unless all they've been doing is FM and Wavetable 😂
@Divinital Yeah I've noticed that. There's a lot of snobbery about it being _technically_ VA yet it sounds like it could easily go toe to toe with many boutique Analog monosynths in a blind test. I inexplicably held off on getting the Peak but now have a Summit on order 🙂
Fantastic and inspirational sounds on an excellent synth. Great job! I'm all in on the "buy" column for this keyboard, and I'll be purchasing your sound bank as well!!
These patches sound amazing. They also remind me of why I'm thinking of selling my Summit. They are all so huge...they just don't fit with my style and fit into the mix. It's a very forward synth...its presence is undeniable. It's massive overkill for me. That filter, LFO and reverb tough. If I could just steal them as a unit. They are mindblowing.
Man you did a great job with these! The Summit always sounded "VST-ish" (flat) to me. I wanted to love this synth so much as it seems so beautifully designed- but it sounded "meh". Your patches really sound good. Im going to have to give this synth another look. Nice job ;)
Summit has this 'organic dark edgy' sound you simply won't find in any Prophet, Hydra, Argon, Kyra, Quantum, Dekards or whatever synth. To me it's the best synth from the last decades, besides the ION and the Virus TI line.
paulusandronicus Argon Gang in the building!!!! I love it edgy, dark, different, smooth it can do it all. Great patches. I am going to buy your soundset for Deepmind, as those are great too. Could you please share you impressions on Deepmind vs. Summit regarding sound only (not features). Which one sounds warmer to your opinion? I have two Deepminds, and am very satisfied with them, but still considering a Summit.
