Fantastic sounding demo! Thank you for the awesome music 🎶. This sounds amazing....next on my list..lol. I have a Hydrasynth deluxe sitting downstairs in the box still. Digging in next week. Have a great Holiday Season 😀. Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.
I love the FM Bell Layer patch. I like the 3 Osc Bass Synth one too, somewhat basic but still awesome and more of a classic sound. The Simple & Sublime one is very atmospheric and gives me a huge Pink Floyd vibe, probably why I like it so much. Great demo!
Makes sense to me, if I'm going to be playing with the menu settings while I'm playing something to see the results, I'd rather have my left hand on the buttons and my right hand free to play.
The problem is that you hand blocks the screen when you're trying to change patches or adjust setting. The rotary knob should have been placed on the left side of the screen. Not a deal breaker, I love my Summit. But it is a pain in the ass.
@@lb659 I’m getting a summit in a few days, I’m particular about little nuances like this, and to get your way thru a circuit bent alternative would be to make cuts/drills into the board just to get that knob in the particular place, extreme I know but at least it could be done. I won’t do it, too precious lol, can’t wait to get it!
Really Loving that sound.. its got that Darth Vader Vibe going on.. slightly Inter Galactic Sound, but like Deep-Inter Galactic.. or just Deep Galactic Sound.. I really love... It sounds pure as well.. If I had the money I would buy this indefinitely.. its got a good amount of techniques/knobs/effects ways of manipulating sound which is what i'm looking for... sound is one part, but sound-manipulation is 2nd part.. and being a skillful synthesist.. Real Musical Talent.
I'd buy these patches just to get a sense of the underlying programming. The bells in Death of a King, Alpine Crystals, and Dream Gazing are fantastic, and Simple&Sublime is a sound I've been trying to program for months and never can manage to get there!
@@swires1 If you still haven't decided the summit would be a much better option than the Iridium (for a hardware beginner) The Iridium is very, very deep. The summit is deep too but it's very easy and quick to dial in useable sounds.
this is an amazing sounding synth and just as good playing. I had to decide between this and the Hydrasynth and I picked the hydrasynth. I guess I'm just torturing myself by watching this 😅
thank you for your video ! is it the best synth of this decade ? i have no big synth and i would buy a polyvalent machine with big sound : is it the best synth in his category -(2000€) ?
I got a Matriarch earlier than expected in my synth journey due to some unexpected funds; it's still my lovely analog synth to this day. However I think the Summit is going to be a sort of opposite to that; but in such a good way. Hopefully this year. (might get a Hydrasynth or big Cobalt at some point; but Summit is next).
Matriarch is a beautiful instrument. Love mine. I spent a long time debating between the Summit and a Hydrasynth. The polyphonic aftertouch is appealing on the latter, but I ultimately went with the Summit because Novation has been good to me over the years. Love love love it and don't pine for the Hydra anymore.
Absolutely my personal favorite: OB-6 :) very versatile analog synth and you can create any sound with it. Add a long external reverb and it’s perfect.
For me (and many others) a real synth (hardware) is better than a master + vsti.. With vsti you can create any sounds and you have surely better acoustics, but the feeling under your fingers is not the same ;) imho
Working with VSTs you need lots of headroom and still you continue hitting that 0dB limit. Also don't forget that a musician gets attracted to physical instrument and gets inspiration from a real thing. No matter whether it is digital or analog, physical instrument with good interface inspires.

Have they managed to sort the Aftertouch out yet via a firmware update? I was trying it out in a store last year and noticed the Aftertouch on this synth was just awful. It's the same with there midi controler keyboards...absolutely terrible Aftertouch, you have to press seriosly hard down and even then it's crap. Novation just can't seem to do Aftertouch right. It was one of the reasons I purchased the Polybrute instead along with far better modulation.
It does sound really nice, but I do like the OB6, I tried one in my local music store and was blown away by how good it sounded, nearly went into £2500.00 in debt, but sanity came back just in time. Sorry dave smith maybe next time after I have done a lot more overtime.
The Virus is using obsolete DSP chips. The Peak and Summit use a 12 times higher resolution processor, resulting in a higher quality sound. Plus this has analogue circuitry. So overall, while you wont get some of those crazy Virus sounds, you will get instead ultra high resolution digital oscillators and effects. I used have a TI and my friend still owns one, he also owns a Rev2. The summit really holds it own and sounds incredible when you dial in your patches. Alot of youtube demos dont show the true power.
The Summit is such a great all round synth - super flexible and sounds so lush and chunky in the flesh. Nice patches
Possibly the best demonstration of this magnificent synth I've watched.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
What a dream machine, lovely playing and lovely sounds.
Always great to hear a real player run a synth through its paces. Thanks for the video.
