These dogs are so smart. Mine knows to do things like to wait for me just by making certain noises with my mouth or with small gestures. Just picked it up by going outside or other daily things.

They're pretty smart, smarter than most dogs bred to be pets. They aren't up there with Border Collies or German Shepherds though. I had an 8 week old Border Collie that I had to return because my Aussie wouldn't tolerate him. Holly cow that puppy learned quick and stayed focused, much sharper than my Aussie. I going to set up my house with a dog run so I can keep two dogs separated and try a Border Collie again.

At 12 weeks old I taught my boy all of the standard commands in one round, after teaching him to focus with a clicking sound. That only took about 3 times. Then, I taught him all of his basic commands by hand signals alone within a few minutes, after he learned his basic commands verbally. Now he learns everything since he learned his basic commands after being shown only once. Aussies are literally the geniuses of the dog world. They love to learn. In fact, they learn constantly. They're a little bit scary that way. They figure you out really quickly & really easily the longer they live with you. It's a little like living with a person in a dog suit.

It's the visual stimulation after the first audible stim with a second audible stim combined with the previous mentioned visual stim that really grabs that dogs focus. Very expert level training and now I understand how to look for that focus grab and train accordingly with the audible and visual stim patterns followed by rewarding a training treat of some sort to give what I assume as a dopamine response? Great job🎉❤

I taught this exactly command by total accident. While trying to teach my pup fetch, I began snapping my fingers and saying “Focus” and he’s learned that when I do this it means “alright all eyes on mom we’re about to do something” and he picked it up without me even trying to teach it. Now I can snap and point and say “over there” and he moves out of the way, he’s smart AF

My border collie/cirneco mix is insanely smart as well. She picked up words without me teaching her, like when I say car (in my language) she immediately knows it's time for a ride.
Only downside, she still urinate herself when she gets too excited and I get too close to her. This limits our relationship a lot.
    Any tips?

Hey does anybody else's Australian Shepherd seem to walk between their legs like when you're walking if they're walking with you do they like do that as a whole breed or is it just mine because I'll be standing at the sink doing dishes and he prefers to just sit in between my legs or just stand under there like he will nudge my legs open and just sit there he'll even go to the floor and take a nap right there. Or like if I'm walking he will literally come up behind me and walk between my legs as I'm walking like he will step in sync with me it is crazy I love it but I was just wondering if do all of them do that or is just mine Goofy? 🤪

Someone who can’t train a dog without causing pain should not train a dog at all. If you can’t use other training methods successfully you shouldn’t be allowed to use training methods that cause pain because you are not able to use them properly. Your dog should not pay for your weakness.
Prong and shock collars are banned here and in several other countries. I’m very happy and thankful about it.
