Yes, Barkley is a great dog. The aussie that lived here last, would not have stay that calm and definitely would have cleaned your ears and gives kisses. Need to see the Aussie wiggle but too !
My Aussie Border collie mix lifts her front arms for me to get under her pits when brushing burrs out of her fur. I never trained her to do that. Lol but it helps. She does know the command, "give me your butt," when brushing her withers. She turns her butt to me.
I recently rescued a severely anxious Aussie who absolutely can’t go to the groomer because of his anxiety. I’ve been slowly working him up to baths but it’s a slow process for sure. So far we’re just doing water baths with no soap so he gets use to the water. Sometimes he jumps out and tries to run away from the anxiety so I don’t want him coated in soap and refusing to get back in. This is honestly so nice to see, great tips and a hopeful look into what grooming my sweet boy will eventually look like!!
I have an extremely anxious Aussie. We got him as a puppy and he was anxious from day one. We’ve worked with him slowly and baths are much easier now. Still working on the blow dryer but he’s only 3 and he does so well. A lot of treats, a lot of patience. He still gets too anxious with the vet and groomers but he’s much better.
Thanks so much for your great thorough teaching! I groom my aussie myself as she was abused & anxious with new things. It has become a nice bonding time & she has come to trust me a lot more because of it. I take my time & use lots of treats. As time has gone by I've gotten braver with how much I take off, and she's looking much better these days! haha at first she was quite a moppet. :) I also rarely do all of her in one sitting. So one day I'll do her paws, another her britches, then her bib, etc. So she's always kind of a walking work in progress, lol.
I have an Australian Shepherd too and he acts exactly the same 😄 Always has this innocent look in his eyes, especially when I am eating. He eats anything that is edible, apples that fall from trees, strawberries in the garden, and he even eats every bug he sees 😅. Would recommend it to any upcoming dog owners, and he would never bite/hurt anyone (Except bugs).
Thank you for uploading - we are in the wilderness with goats and ducks and tons of melting snow and I trimmed WAY more off my show coat Aussies but used your video as a HUGE educational (trim downwards with sissors) to even out the mistakes. Thanks for the help my dogs look GREAT
He's such a patient, well behaved puppy. My Ginger is 15 months now and she's such a wiggly puppy. The last time I took her in for a grooming they said she was just too wiggly to trim her nails. She is so excited when I take her in. Your place seems like such a relaxing environment. I wish you could groom Ginger.
Short, simple steps and you made it look easy enough for me to show my grandkids on their Aussie. This will be our first time grooming Cole so I hope that it goes as well as Barkley’s cleanup. Thanks for this very helpful video.
Such a beautiful well behaved dog. It’s almost the exact copy of our Aussie. Except ours got a bright blue eye. It’s a lot of work but it’s worth it everyday. Beautiful loyal companions 🙏🏼
I have an Aussie now and have had two others... but now I really miss my first Blue Merrill (sp). Great video. For the last three Aussies I open the shower door and say, "the spa is open" and the come running to be messaged. I'll buy the things you suggested to make it even a better experience.
ok, i just have to say Barkley is VERY well behaved. My Aussie would not put up with that much attention. I can barely get him into the tub! Very good job, groomer.
This was a great video! I have a blue merle as well and I am very particular about his grooming. One groomer shaved him (which we did not ask for and would never ask for). After that his hair did grow back correctly, but I get very anxious to take him now because I never want that mix up to happen again.
I do shave my Aussie in the summer because we live on a Texas ranch where there are billions of sand burrs. If we didn't shave him (about 2" of hair) the poor thing would be covered in burrs and miserable.. By winter, when we have blizzards (Panhandle of TX) his beautiful hair has grown out again.
I am so glad that you are so sweet and gentle with these babys I have seen some people that are rough with them like they are only in it for the money!
He’s a beautiful Merle this was also really helpful to watch I am getting an Aussie puppy soon she’s going to be born at the end of April so this month and I want to take the best care of her as I can- I also work at a dog grooming, daycare, and boarding facility and I’m looking to learn how to groom I start training on bathing soon!
This video is so helpful! I have a border collie and I need to trim up some of her fur, so this was a great guide since their shapes are very similar. I’m the same way with my pup, I want her to have that natural look, but sometimes she gets dirty and floofy!
Thanks for your well rounded grooming tips. He’s so well behaved which makes a big job easier. I recently adopted a 6 year old female Aussie. She’s so sweet. Unfortunately her previous owner didn’t groom her much. I have been using a furninator and a pin brush to get rid of a lot of the under coat. She’s been shedding like crazy but it’s a little better now. I had another Aussie a number of years ago so have some experience with it. Thanks for your tips. You do a great job
Thank you for shsring, I adopted an aussie. She'sa lovly puppy but we gotta work on the fear of water and hairdryer but I will definitely apply your suggestion on future grooming. I do too love the natural look of these dogs!
This is a great tutorial ! We just took our Aussie in and were shocked to see that the groomer shaved him short !!! She said that it was an Aussie puppy cut !! I’m going to rewatch this video many times and be trying to groom him ourselves in the future until we can find somebody that truly knows how to groom an Aussie… small town area so our options are limited to say the least… I hope his coat recovers …
I've been looking at a bunch of shelters and websites to see if they have aussie puppies... I can't find one but, I did find a breeder. But, anyways, thank you for making these videos. I'm am obsessing over aussie's... and I'm driving myself crazy by watching these!
When we were getting our pup we only could only find breeders that sold australian shepherds, not stores. Probably cause they are normally herding dogs.
My wife had an Australian Shepard for 16 years. Giving him a bath was not for the faint hearted, so that was usually my job. However, he loved being brushed by her.
My Aussie Daisy is so well behaved like Barkley. She is a red Merle and she is 16 yrs old. PetSmart wont groom her bc of her age. Thanks for the tips, since I have to groom her now it’s helpful l to watch someone who knows what they’re doing first. Thank you.
Thank you for this! I groom my own Ausi but It is always so hard to wash all the way to the skin, thanks for the tip with the knobby scrubber. Our trainer recommended shaving her belly in the summer, is this something that is done for Ausis? If so I would love to see how to shave that area even if it is on a different bread.
Yes they are very hairy lol... My Saint is blowing his coat at the moment so hair everywhere... I'm no groomer but I have a grooming table a blaster and clippers and scissors... He looks a lot better afterwards... I enjoy watching you groom dogs... I've learned a lot...
I have an Aussie/ Border Collie cross, very similar to sweet Mr Barkley. I wish she were as well behaved as he is, but he grew up visiting a professional groomer. New subscriber 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video, I have an aussie shep mix and she does not do well in the car at all, so I'm trying to learn how to tame that undercoat and her grinch feet are the worst.
Great video, thanks for sharing. My Aussiedoodle has longer slightly wavy hair, so I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with him. This helps a lot, wish I knew what to do with the longer top hair. He is like a drop coat with a middle part down his back with like 4”hair. Hard to find a pup with his coat.
Omg I have been looking for a groomer who knows what natural means for aussies! I had a groomer shave my girls mane and butchered her coat! I now mainly wash her myself and manage her nails but i do take her to the groomers for the darn grinch feet! Good job he is such a Good boi!
He is sooooo well behaved
Yes, Barkley is a great dog. The aussie that lived here last, would not have stay that calm and definitely would have cleaned your ears and gives kisses. Need to see the Aussie wiggle but too !
Yes, he looks to be from a high quality show-line (not working-line) breeder. My Aussie is similar. Wonderful temperament
He's smart and good boy.
You are an extremely good groomer. I wish you worked where I lived. The dog is very happy and well conditioned to having his hair done. Great Job!
He’s so good honestly! He even lifted his arm up!
My Aussie Border collie mix lifts her front arms for me to get under her pits when brushing burrs out of her fur. I never trained her to do that. Lol but it helps. She does know the command, "give me your butt," when brushing her withers. She turns her butt to me.

How did you work on this? My guy is anxious as well and is scared of the clippers and scissors
What a beautiful well trained dog. Aussies are truly incredible
Oh my gosh he’s such a sweet smart boy so well behaved!
I love how he already knew the process so at 6:17 he gave his paw and was like "here you go."
He’s such a good boy! I wish I had a Australian Shepard
Oh the joys of an aussie puppy. Can't wait until mine reached 3 yrs xD
I have an Australian Shepherd too and he acts exactly the same 😄 Always has this innocent look in his eyes, especially when I am eating. THank you keeping this video up even though you are not doing more videos I really appreciated the detail you went through to show how to do it.
omggg this dog is soooo beautiful and sweet, i love how he snuggled on you while you were talking to the camera he's so adorable
What a wonderful pup!!!!!! Your personality as a groomer is, too- makes a huge impact.
What a gorgeous groomed Aussie! ❤
What a Good Boy! HE IS SO ADORABLE 💕💕
Wowwwww... You are so sweet and he's so well behaved
She’s good! I’ve got two. What a lovely patient puppy Barkley is!
I hope I can have a successful grooming business one day too.
Best tutorial I’ve found so far, thank you!
That is one cooperative dog.

Great video and love the details that were shared. Beautiful dog and so well-behaved. Thanks for posting.
Melissa - you are WONDERFUL at your job!!!!! What lucky pups!!!!
I need you to groom my pup. Your love and care for them is amazing
Oh how beautiful! I have 2 beautiful Aussies too and I would love someone as good as you to groom them. Excellent job.
I also call them grinch feet , but I like them though. My Golden/Collie had grinch feet and they were so cute!
He is perfect! Love his eyes and colors!!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍

What a good boy! I have 2 mini Aussies and just love them to pieces. I wish you were close to me to come groom them. You do an amazing job.
I'd love to see a list of products and tools you would recommend. Great job!
Check out my latest video I go over all the tools and products I use!

What a pretty trim, and such a good boy. Thanks!

This is the only video I've found where the dog's britches were not butchered. Can't wait to test your methods on my Aussie!
Such a sweet boi 😭♥️ my Aussie/Husky mix could never stay this still. 😂
Dude same! I have a Aussie husky mix too and she is a nervous wreck at the groomers 😅
ok, i just have to say Barkley is VERY well behaved. My Aussie would not put up with that much attention. I can barely get him into the tub! Very good job, groomer.
He is such a good boy!! Nice vid! ❤❤❤❤

Great job! Such a well behaved boy!♥️

Yes shaving the hair can change the texture of the hair, just be specific with your groomer what you want & show pictures !

My boy auzzie looks just like that but with a tail that look like a fan! , A beautiful example of a great dog!
What a beautiful dog. I love that breed.
He looks great!😃
Thank you for shsring, I adopted an aussie. She'sa lovly puppy but we gotta work on the fear of water and hairdryer but I will definitely apply your suggestion on future grooming. I do too love the natural look of these dogs!
I wish I could find someone with your skills to groom my Aussie! Awesome!
What a good dog!
This was very helpful. My adopted Aussie mix is terrified of grooming so I bought a grooming kit and umm going to attempt to do it myself.
Beautiful dog !
Beautiful dog. We just picked up an AS. So smart
That knobby brush is a great idea. I swear it takes hours to get my Aussie fully wet and soaped through to his skin 😂 Those double coats.
Yeah I agree when I groom my golden retriever it is hard to get through the hair
Yes I know! That knobby brush is really a game changer when bathing those double coated dogs!
Aussies are so easy to train I love mine she’s such a good sweet pup

Great job! Love from my Aussie Posse. We call those cuts…face, feet and Fanny clips.
Such a good video! I have an Aussie doodle and her butt hair is getting crazy. I laughed when you said loose poop!

What a good boy. He’s one good looking rooster as well.
That's the calmlest Aussie I've ever seen. LOL I love Aussies, I just dislike having to groom them
GREAT VIDEO, WELL DONE.
She has the perfect grooming set up. I could groom my dog if I had that.
LOL.. I call my Aussies furry paws Grinch paws too, they look just like em.😆
