    wow this guy is good! the way he is able to just pick up on beats sounds and tunes showing the piano off. I can see how natural and effortless it is for him to come up with so many great sounding snippets.

      @@Pazaluz Congratulations! You picked a great keyboard. I'm very particular and still enjoying mine. It's 9 years old and I play it an hour every day. It is fully expandable as I usually use mine as a "controller" and play it through the Garritan CFX software and Yamaha monitor speakers.

      @@ThePianoMan1953 thanks ^^ Will definitely connect it to my pc as well in the future. I've been into music production for a good while now. I think i still have this vst called "addictive keys" which has some great piano sounds. I will check out the garriton software as well! I also got myself a better foot pedal 😃 I'm enjoying it a lot already. I'm practicing "everyday" by carly commando, and "compte du'n autre ete" by Yan Tiersen. Always wanted to learn these songs. My ultimate goal is to learn Chopin Nocturne op9 no2.

      @ThePianoMan1953 Рік тому +1

      @@Pazaluz The P-105's grand is just fine.... (until you hear some of the VSTs) I can't lie, I was seduced by the "recorded in Abbey Road studio" aspect of Garritan. It has a bit of natural reverb, which I like. It will take more time than expected to play Chopin but the journey will be more than worth it. For my "Genesis," I saw and heard the official video of Bruce Hornsby and The Range play "The Way It Is" and I was out the door for Guitar Center. I later added the 2-Yamaha HS7s and sub. It makes a big difference (but the $500 sub is a waste of money.... you don't need it)

    Great comparison! I'm a drummer that's just starting to play piano, so this is a whole new world to me and I don't really know much about pianos and keyboards, so your video was very helpful to decide that the P-115 was what I was looking for. However, after 2 or 3 days of purchasing it, I realized that the synthesis, sample or timbre, if you prefer, is uneven as you go through the keyboard, the former diiffers in some keys. Is it normal? Should I ask for a change? Thanks. (Sorry for my English, as it's not my native language). Thank you so much.

My family is not very fortunate but I've been saving my allowance to buy one in the future (I don't really plan to buy the cheaper one first cause I want to play classical music and yeah, reasons! I only want to spend money on one item and not multiple ones so yeah so much for that..) And it really hurts my eyes 😂 when I see people having this keyboard and not even using it. Bruuuuuhhhhhhhh play the freaking piano!!! Not everybody is as fortunate as you all are :}

      Entre ellos hay alguna diferencia pero no es mucha, ambos tienen el mismo sonido, el P115 tiene otras opciones como el sound boost y elimina el segundo sonido de piano que es el Power Grand del motif y los reeemplaza en el P115 por un sonido brillante y otro meloso. ademas que la polifonia sube a 192. Te recomiendo mas el P115 por ser el que mas se aproxima a la actualidad. Debes ver que al estar usado tenga todas las teclas en funcionamiento. Inclusive el P125 usa el mismo sample de piano CFIIIS pero a 4 capas y tiene mas sonidos que los dos anteriores.
      jeje a estas alturas ya habras decidido por un piano.

    Very good reviews! One correction: you are saying P155 instead of P115 (in this video and another one with 115).
    Speaking of P155, would you say it is still better than P155? I know it was discontinued, but you can still buy it.

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  9 років тому

      Andrei Dinu Thanks - Its hard to keep track sometimes! - P155 would be a better spec than P115 for sure, in fact the P155 was the predecessor to the P255 so it shares a lot of the features, including the £1000+ price tag although I suspect you can get a good used one for less now. Do try and test the P115 first though because it's very impressive for the money.

      No problem :) Thanks for the advice, I will check the P115. I am really torn about this, as I want to teach my daughters to play and ther are really small, so I don't know how much abuse it could take...at the same time, I have been a musician all my life and I need the instrument for myself as well, so I would pay extra for the poliphony and the CP engine...I gues the P115 would be the right compromise.

    should I get the p155 (600 GBP 4 year old used) or this (489 GBP new)? I don't have much space and my budget around 500ish pounds. Does the old p155 still has better sound than p115?

    Hi, between this and the DGX 650, which is better for a 7 year old beginner? She is just into her 3rd lesson on an acoustic piano at the school. We are looking to find something cheap and near acoustic in terms of touch and sound so that she can practise at home. The acoustics are over our budget at the moment. Over where I come from, Yamaha is having a sale on both models (complete with stand and pedals), and the difference between them is about 50 pounds. Both wife and I are totally music illiterate, so it's kind of hard for us to make a sound decision. Should we look at other brands / models too?

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  9 років тому +1

      Stephen Tay Good question! - When it comes to just the piano playing there is not a great big difference between DGX650/P115, the big differences are in what else you can do and there's no right or wrong, it's a personal thing. The DGX650 has a little computer screen on it and lot's of interactive games to help you learn, which is very engaging for a youngster, but I know a few parents who consider that a distraction from learning! It really depends on the child. The P115 is very good quality and as you can tell from the video I'm really impressed with it, but it's designed with a purpose; to be portable, and although it has a quality piano style feel it does little else compared to the DGX650, and this might be considered boring by some youngsters!

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  9 років тому +3

      ePianos.co.uk From my own personal point of view (as a piano teacher) I consider any time that a young student of mine spends sitting at their piano and not in front of their computer as a victory! So I tend to favour the DGX650 because it's so much more engaging and fun. Quite a nice feature is I can ask a student to practice at home and record their best performance, they can then copy it to a USB stick and bring it to the lesson for me to hear. I can also record a complicated left hand piece for them to take home and practice the right hand etc. Very clever and much more in tune with modern technology. But as I said before, some children do respond better with a more focussed method without the distractions of the extra features. It's a tricky choice but I think you're the best person to make the decision.

      ePianos.co.uk Thank you for the detailed information, I really appreciate your insight! I didn't know the DGX650 has a learning feature! Will have to discuss with my wife on whether she prefers that to be available to our girl. Some other questions come to mind: on the DGX650, there's a usb to host connection. Is an iOS program available to connect to it? I've tried the one for P115 and I can only choose 2 models and I don't see DGX650 there. For polyphony, 192 vs 128, is that a really big difference for a beginning student? Lastly, between the 2 pianos, which will a student outgrow faster? Or I should rephrase it this way: if a student wants to take graded exams, which model will last longer?

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  9 років тому +1

      Stephen Tay There are a number of very good iOS apps that Yamaha have made for their keyboards, but the most practical ones for learning are NoteStar and MyMusicRecorder, check them out here: uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/apps/

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  9 років тому +3

      Stephen Tay It's worth noting that the NoteStar (which is particularly good) is much improved if you can play it through the onboard speakers of the keyboard itself, the DGX650 has a input to do this (using a cable) but the P115 does not. You can use the iPad speaker but its a little weak. Polyphony is not a massive thing for a 7yo beginner right now, but 4-5 grades/years down the line it could be, if they improve fast, and it's really different for everyone then, then they'll begin to notice the limitations of lower polyphony. It's a difficult thing to explain to a non-musician, the best analogy is the one I use in the videos; it's like being a painter and only having say 3 shades of green in your palette rather than 8, you can still paint grass with 3 shades, but if you had more options you'd produce something much better. I hope that makes sense!

    I bought the P115 and also a cable to hook it up to my speakers.
    The cable is a 1/4 to RCA. It doesn't play from the speakers at all
    after hooking it up. I don't get what I'm doing wrong, the 1/4 left and
    right males are plugged into the back of the piano, and the RCA males to
    the speakers. But, if I plug the 1/4 side to the FRONT of the piano, it
    works. Are the ports on the front and back different? How can I get my
    piano to play on speakers with an RCA input?? The speakers are just some regular speakers, I don't need an amp or anything, I just want to hear it play through speakers.
    Please, someone with a brain help me! Lol

    Hello, I currently own a practice keyboard (Yamaha PSR-262), I'm learning but I keep getting put off by the bad sound quality, so I think getting a quality keyboard would help keep me interested. I'm looking at getting one of these, but would it justifiable to buy one of these keyboards at an early learning stage for the sake of having better sound?

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  7 років тому +3

      Most certainly and not only because of the better sound. Having piano-style weighted keys will improve your dexterity over the keys and help you improve faster. Personally I find weighted keys much more forgiving as they offer a moments resistance before actually playing the note. It won't take you long to adjust to them and you'll prefer it eventually I guarantee it. Hope this helps!
