Absolutely love that they talked about Wasabi here. It's one of my all-time favorites and definitely an underrated movie.....i don't think i have ever heard anyone talk about it.
This episode firmly established the Kieran-Tony feud. Just another reason Rental Reviews should come back.
Jakie Chan's "Who Am I?" is one of my all time favorite movies!
Co-sign. The roof top scene is an all-timer. The fight with the clogs. The driving too, into the alley.
The action is awesome, but I think this movie drags on a bit too long.
And mr nice guy and rumble in the Bronx and Gorgeous it had some pretty good fight scenes with Brad Allan those are some great Jackie Chan movies
I remember renting that VHS. That movie had so many awesome fighting scenes. What an exciting time it was back then.
Who Am I is in my top 3. It’s third actually, Legend of Drunken Master and Armor of God being one and two respectively

Not part of the aesthetic...theyve been playing with diff audio equiptment james commented on ot a couple episodes back. You guys do know the vhs is just an effect theyre not recording it on a camcorder...
The audio sounds heavily compressed. Like a bad 22khz/96k MP3 file. You can hear the compression on James going in and out from low quality to a quick high quality then back to low.
I noticed it, it sounds like the lapel mics sound like a Soviet Union era tannoy system wired through a skunks rectum ringworm hole...

The Punisher with Thomas Jane is pretty underrated. It's better than War Zone in my opinion

Both flawed movies for different reasons. I'd rather watch the Thomas Jane one though I see him playing his role from The Sweetest Thing the entire time. Ray Stevenson was great but the movie is a little monotone.
Absolutely agree, Thomas Jane is fantastic. If you like the movie play the ps2 game he voices him throughout the whole game and its fantastic, might be on xbox as well

I find these one-off action films that legends like Stallone did back then so fascinating and strangely comforting to watch. You pretty much know what you're going to get but without the heavy baggage of a Rambo film for instance. Also it's always refreshing to see someone like that play a pretty wholesome character. Admittedly I could be remembering the character wrong though since it's been a pretty long time.
I'm sorry, but Tony is not the asshole here, Speed 2 is way more in the spirit of this topic than Speed 1. Nobody says Speed 1 is underrated, is rated where it should be. Speed 2 was a ballsy pick.

Except for Rush Hour, that's one of my favorite movies OF ALL TIME.
King of Ebla - Rush Hour relies too much on laughs, Jackies Hong Kong stuff are packed with Holy Shit that was crazy moments and laughs.

"The Rundown" is frickin' awesome and hilarious! Also, "Speed" is kind of underrated today, and not because it's forgettable, but rather because it's rather forgotten relative to its awesomeness. It belongs up there with the best action movies but isn't mentioned alongside them. Yeah, the end wasn't the greatest, but the elevator and bus scenes were off the charts.

Yeah, that movie was great. I think it was a marketing failure, I don't think I saw much about it before it came out. I wish I didn't miss it when it was in theaters.
Good movie, its a shame they never made a sequel. Karl urban was badass as Dredd.
The Raid. I think as far as ACTION MOVIES go. It doesnt get enough praise.

If you mean based what on people think of it, then no; because most people who have seen it love it. So I wouldn't call it underrated in that sense.

"Drive" 1997 with Mark Dacascos. Saw it a couple of months ago, it was like the predecessor to the Rush Hour series, a fun action movie.

Mark Dacascos and Kadeem Hardison was a good action comedy movie, the part when they in the car listening to music bumping they heads to it is very underrated scene and the fight scenes was awesome definitely a predecessor to Rush Hour
...just rewatched a few old episodes and realized how much i missed this show...the intros, the interactions between you guys....
The irony is that the rundown is more underated than all these movies
If i had to choose, I'd go with Predator 2 (1990). It's truly a great action movie overshadowed by a perfect action movie. I'd rate Predator (1987) 10/10, I'd still give the second installment a solid 8/10.
The cast has solid synergy. Bill Paxton doing his specialty as an overcocky hero. Douchebag Gary Busey is always a win win. "I'm too old for this shit" Danny Glover to glue them all together.
And not to mention the near documentary accurate streets of L.A. in 1997. You can feel the heat!

I know it's cheesy but I absolutely love 1999's The Mummy, Independence Day and Armageddon as my action summer blockbuster movies I could watch over and over.

Awful movie. Wesley Snipes pretty much ruined it.
Fun fact: Producer Mark Gordon originally wanted John McTiernan to direct _Speed_ but he passed on it, because he felt like it was a retread of _Die Hard_ and suggested Jan de Bont instead.

I have to pick Blown Away from1994. Tommy Lee Jones was awesome in the role of the mad bomber.

The Rundown is one of my all time favorite movies. The part that always gets me is at the beginning when he frisbees that turntable and the bystander moves just in time before getting hit

I'd argue The Living Daylights and License To Kill are pretty good action movies that nobody ever brings up since Dalton's time as 007 has largely been forgotten.

If you're a fan Jackie Chan you need to check out Tony Ja. He did The protector (Tom-Yum-Goong) and the Ong-Bak movies. Does his own stunts and he uses Muay Thai. His fights are insane. If anything at least look up the fight scenes in the protector. Dudes crazy.
I'm really thinking of creating a second account to give this episode a second like. That Caddyshack/Speed 2 mashup was pure gold.

Speed is a great movie, but there's no fuckin' way it's underrated in any regard. It's an action classic. An underrated action movie that I genuinely love is called The Wraith starring Charlie Sheen. It's best described as The Crow meets Fast & Furious, and it has Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks in it too. The car chases are some of the best I've ever seen on-film and it's got a killer soundtrack as well. I cannot recommend the film enough.
Great pick! I had that on VHS back in the late 80's. I wanted that car (Dodge M4S) so bad when I was a kid. My friends and I got a kick out of the character Skank always huffing carb cleaner and drinking Drain-O. You can watch the full movie here on UA-cam.

two of my favorites are The last Boy scout with Bruce Willis and Damon Waynes, I have seen that movie more times than I can count. And the other would be the Tsu Hark hong kong film Knockoff starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Rob Schneider.

Well, I can understand his particular reasoning behind it, to be honest. A great movie, in and of itself assuredly, but it isn't really one of the pictures you consider when asked about your favorite top ten action movies. I can see his reasoning, but that's just me. That ending, though, was priceless.

Personally, I rarely ever think of the movie, in any context (except that it IS a good movie), but everyone sees different sides of the ball when it's in play, so I hear where you're coming from, and thanks for the input. Best episode yet. So many genuinely good laughs. Also, I sort of agree with Kieran (finding myself doing that a lot lately) that Speed is underrated today. It was probably overrated when it came out, but nowadays it's largely ignored and even made fun of for its original popularity. It is still a great movie, but people like to dump on it.
Yeah, James probably has a lot of friends who are really into old action movies but speed usually gets made fun of nowadays.
I'd have to disagree, the episode with Mac talking about big trouble in little China, but that's just my opinion. He knew every detail of it and was very enthusiastic about it.

I'll always remember that movie, since my mom checked it out for me at the video store without noticing it was rated R. I was a little disappointed since I thought there might be nudity, but I was still all for Jackie Chan doing Jackie Chan things.

That's a horror movie.
A good action/Horror fusion film.
Great movie, but not ‘Action’.
Aside from the three dragons, Corey Yuen (director/choreographer of many 90s Jet Li movies) and Yuen Wah (Bruce Lee's acrobatic double and the landlord in Kung Fu Hustle) also worked on Dragons Forever. All five were classmates in the Peking Opera School, and it's the last time they all teamed up to make a film together.
I think we all know the answer is Kindergarten Cop 2.
