On the verge on turning 40, I decided to enter a bodybuilding competition for the first time (after being nagged by a couple friends for weeks). What I learned is there is so much that goes into it and I have, and continue to learn so much. I also had my eyes opened to the fact that it is crazy expensive and not accessible to the masses. So, I started a podcast to share with others insights from pro’s, coaches, etc. Meant to be informative and document my journey for 2 reasons: 1) to share what I’m learning in the event someone else has considered competing, and 2) to hopefully spark the conversation to make the sport more accessible. Hoping it delivers value to others, but worst case scenario, I’m learning a ton through my conversations!

5:50 The issue with that versus how easy it sounds is observing parents taking away tech from kids, but then being consumed in it themselves. It’s hard to be a good parent when the parent is as habitually addicted as well. We need social detoxes so parents that grew up on the tech themselves know how to engage their kids without a phone or tablet.

Gary Vaynerchuk for president! He is rational, practical, and most importantly, a native gift for knowing where important things are going.
I did not say 'trending' either. I said 'GOING'
He reminds me of a family member who had that native talent. It's quite valuable and I wish I had it.
It's really cool to hear a rational, intelligent successful person in the marketing space because it changes relentlessly.

Rick Rubin I'm guessing? He talks about creating something that he feels proud of and doesn't judge it by how many people buy his record in result.
But ironically if he is making something that makes him self happy that in turn will make others happy, the deeper and more thorough the art is expanding especially.
It's a confusing but simple thing. I've been struggling to wrap my head around it for years because in terms of logic, dont we have to help ourselves in order to help others?
I'm guessing Gary would agree with this sense he spent a long time building his offline skills in business from winelibrary.
We need an interview between Gary and Rick Rubin it seems.

I have been on youtube for around 12 years and have about 1.4k subs. I always respond to comments and will often comment on videos I watch.
When I began my journey I would post stuff when I travelled but eventually focussed on British model railways. I have posted long format, shorts and live format. but still haven t cracked it. I also post on instagram.
In spite of all this I post regularly on both and try to deliver interesting content.

Hallelujah!!!!! Yes!!! Consequences, accountability for your actions is absolutely necessary when kids are in their adolescence, so they understand what that is when the stakes are low. What happens when they get older and the consequences they may face from external authority, out of a parent’s control? My ex husband calls me a dictator when I give my kids consequences, which is counter productive. Hallelujah @Garyvee

Yeah, I've got about 100 vids and average about 500 views on my public videos. Shorts have been doing pretty well, its interesting to watch the analytics, and understand the evolution of UA-cam. 15 years ago I made a duct tape wallet tutorial, which ended up getting 80k views at 10 mins long.( Enough views for monetization), but I wasn't mentally mature enough to understand the enterprising opportunities.

If I sell something, great. But links are for their convenience and I’m here to give them info on stuff that interests them. The views or lack thereof, are the feedback. Also the best advice you’ve given me is:
    1) Turn on your Camera
    2) Say positive shit.
Also, I find if I’m saying it I’m also not the only person thinking it usually so I have used it a bit to give companies feedback.

I 100% agree with the parenting problem. I am a mom with 5 kids (8-14), and each have their own issues when it comes to screens. It's our job to identify those issues and address the root cause of the issue. A screen addiction today is an alcohol addiction tomorrow. Being intentional and observant is the hard parenting. Its easy to throw screens at a problem.
