For me, just get the MagGuts +2 and problem is solved with NO jamming a slide while at Battery, charges smooth and is reliable to the last. I have large hands and the MagGuts base is less than the Pierce +1. I have no problems on the draw or maintaining grip control and conceals extremely well, better than the Pierce +1. JAMMING THE TOP ROUND DOESN’T WORK!
MorbisDraconis, thanks for making this video. I’m going to put one of these together and test it, even if only for range use. One question: What tool did you use to trim the Pearce internal base plate?
Brad Layton It’s been a long time since I made this video and I can’t recall what I used. I remember the plastic being pretty thin so you could probably trim it off with a simple box cutter.
I'm not getting the wasted Money on the Magguts ? So you can jam 8 in the Mag? Instead of just doing the +1 extension and dropping the Mag to add the +1. Then it's definitely fully functional. I have 2 and have never had an issue.
Ed Hlavaty I agree with you. I don't use this setup and definitely do not recommend it to anyone. This was something I just tried out. I personally do use the magguts in the oem magazine, and it works flawlessly.
I did this same thing and was able to get 8 rounds in the mag. But with this combo, and a 9th round in the chamber, the increased pressure on the same didn't allow the slide to reciprocate, eject the spent shell, and load the next round. Instead, I just got an empty brass in the chamber and no ejection. Granted, this was my experience with Glock 42 and I haven't tried it with the 9mm power of the G43.
Awesome - I have the magguts spring on my flush mag, and a pearce +1 on the other - I was just about to buy another mag and a taran tactical +2, but I may have to try this now - I noticed that it did not work with the unmodified lock plate, as you pointed out. Has this continued to be reliable for you? How many rounds do you have through it at this point?
Still just the 100 that I originally tested. I have gone back to the flush plate, I pocket carry most of the time and it fits a little better that way.
Grand, I’m going to put one of these together and test it. Where in the mag is the guide tab you mentioned? And what did you use to trim the spring? Thanks.
2024 - this Frankenstein solution still works! It is a little taller then the Magguts 8+1, but I can get my pinky on and overall better grip
Thanks for the comment. I forgot how old this video is.
I would imagine inserting that fully loaded mag with the slide forward would be pretty hard and racking the slide even harder. There is no free lunch.
I thought about doing this before i saw or heard of it .
But , I wouldn't trust my life with it untill it passed an EXTENSIVE ! range test .
This is exactly what I was looking for. Great video bro answered my exact question.
have you left the Magguts & Pearce grip loaded to capacity for about 6 months to see if the spring still work properly

Definitely agree with you. A lot has come out in the past 7 years since this video was made.
with the glock 43 i would not go past the 7 round limit. Just because 8 will go in does not mean its good for the spring and mag body.

I run a +1 with the Pearce extension on my shield. No modification needed. 8 rd cap.

If you use the taran tactical +1 baseplate with the magguts you can get a better fitting 8+1
Thanks for trying this. I had heard this worked, but that for sure looks too tight. Never know unless you try right! Thanks!

Im supposing that 8+1 is outta the question then? I imagine it will never seat nor cycle.
CLplusP Yes, that's just one too many.
This is 8 in plus one chambered that hes showing on the video
would it work if i had maggot that added two rounds plus the pearce grip?
kevin paragas This setup is already a very tight fit, so I don’t think the plus 2 would be compatible.

Mag still working in 2018?
I have a couple these in my ETS G43 magazine with a hyve extension +3. 10rounds easily
Ooooo thats interesting, im gonna try that
I bet it doesn't work when you insert it on a closed slide. Than eighth round booked tight.
There is a great place for this setup. IN THE GARBAGE!!!!
Dave Butch You're probably right and I wouldn't trust using this platform regularly. Just an experiment on my end.

OMG 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
