Hello Sweet Mama!😘🙏 Yes definitely fresh potatoes is much better that these powdered pack also you don`t how much preservatives it has. Baking potatoes were a convenience for earlier kitchens. Not only did they not require any water to cook or clean, overcooking them did little to detract from the taste or texture of the recipe. With most homes having fires going mostly non-stop, baking potatoes was literally a simple matter of throwing something on the stove.Have a blessed Sunday and enjoy your soul comforting recipe.🍠🫕🌺🪴🏵🙏

Yummy. Allow me to add my variation, please😊. I do this, and also add sluced butternut, and the result is also very tasty. Just a share if anyone would like to try it. So, it's potato and butternut bake. I usually parboil both before layering and baking.
Just a suggestion, parboil the potatoes until soft. Then you don't need to waste so much electricity especially in these days when elects so expensive. You can also add a nice bechamel sauce, some sour creme and chopped chives to garnish. Just some variations....
Thanks yes, we usually have to do that here in Johannesburg because the potatoes don’t cook well. If we parboil we also add in the garlic and thyme while boiling. Thanks for the suggestions as well!
