    I learned so much watching this video including how to use my tools, about patterns in general that will be so helpful. I would have liked to see how you handled the yokes. Hands down the best video I have watched. Thank you. Would also like to see how you handle copying pants with darts.

    You’re a genius! I’ve been looking for tutorials about cloning methods for some time but most of them are too complicated for me to follow. But you have such a simplistic yet much more systematic approach. Now I can clone my pants with confidence thanks to your videos. I can’t thank you enough, Eric!

    This makes so much more sense than all the youtube videos I've found that instruct us to outline the edges of the pants, I sincerely thank you for this tutorial

    Mr. Stiles, you are amazing and I cannot thank you enough for showing us how to clone pants using this fabulous method which I had no idea even existed. I've been trying to clone a pair of capri pants for months and I've watched tutorial after tutorial where they either fold one pant leg into another and trace around the pants....I've tried that so many times but it just doesn't come out right. I found your channel and watched this video, made me a pattern and sewed it up today and I was beside myself...it came out perfect. I improvised a bit and added a waist band to the top...PERFECT.. I am going through my closet and finding more pants to clone.. Also, your instructional method is great. I just can't say enough nice things about this video.

    Well,I tried this method and Ι cloned the center front of a pair of pants with pockets that I have and adore.this is an amazing and brilliant way of making the pattern of an existing garment. I used a self erasing marking pen,though,because the pants I cloned is light blue and I wanted to be sure that there would be no marks left the following day. I am grateful !!!!thank you very much

    Awesome tutorial! I wear elastic waisted jeans that I'd love to clone. How would I go about doing that? Stretch and measure the waist area?

    How do you make a pattern piece for the waistband? Have I missed that on the video? Also, how do you do the fly tab?

    This is great. I'm teaching myself how to draft patterns. I've been sewing over 40 years but only recently started making my own patterns.
    I have a hard time finding clothes that fit. I can take a favorite pair of jeans/slacks and copy them. It's a good start.
    Also, where did you get your plastic L square ruler. I have a heavy metal one I found at Harbor Freight. It works, but it's clunky and heavy.
    You make it look easy.

    The inseams are really hard to copy; have to do the back over. I put more lines in above the crotch point.

    Thank you for showing us where to find the balance lines on a custom made jeans pattern! What do you use to sharpen your chalk?

  • @StephenThorley

    Does this mean that jeans don't need a dart or yolk, or has that moved into the side seam? On your construction video you put a dart in but I didn't see where you added it in the draft, can I just extend the side seam the amount of the dart if i wanted a dart?

    I see you measure below the waist band. Do you do the waistband separately and add it on later?

  • @TheTruthSetFree
    @TheTruthSetFree Рік тому

    Thanks for this beautiful tutorial. I always thought one must use the centre crotch line, to find the centre of the pants. You are using centre waist which is not always on centre Tod find centre of the pants. How is that.

    • @ericw.stilesmasterbespoket3212
      @ericw.stilesmasterbespoket3212  Рік тому

      Remember you are cloning a pair of jeans, and you are using their pattern not yours. Therefore, when you are cloning you are doing what they did. You can change things, but be careful in doing this. If you do you should make a sample pair first.

  • @chrissereque8716

    So the center back of the pants pattern has to curve up somehow to be higher than the front, but needs to be flat so that the waistband will fit. I’m confused as to how this is done…

      The yoke is a design and should be added only if you want it. There is no certain time to add the yoke, but you must add it before you join the legs. Here is the link to how to make and draft a yoke. ua-cam.com/video/MA1oc4Fh6Y8/v-deo.html
