The glorious Bluesrock of the 60's and 70's will NEVER be beaten for every genre of music. Those of us who lived it knew it was a special era. Dr.John and Johnny Winter legend !
So glad i met you Dr John. I watched your show and waited nearly 2 hours to say hello. You were so kind to me and you asked me to hold your famous walking stick . It was a lifes dream to meet the man and the legend . Ive always wanted to meet. One of the saddest days of my life was when i heard you had passed. God bless your soul my friend . I will be forever grateful for your kindness and music that changed the world . Keep on !!!
Я так его обожаю и завидую вам! Я видела его только по тв и е-нет. Мегаталант! Он и сам произведение искуссства - от внешности до каждой нотки! Инопланетянин с длинными белыми волосами. Даже фамилия в полном соответствии!😊
I met Johnny and Edgar when I was 7 or so. My uncle went to highscool with them in Beaumont Tx. My brother and I were spending the weekend with my grandmother and uncle. About 9p Saturday evening he comes home, through thekitchen door and entering the living room behind hin were these 2 guys in solid white, white levis an white t-shirts. My brother and I dove behind the sofa, they scared the bajeebus out of us. When the 3 of them stopped laughing at us, we came out and were introduced to them both. They weren't there long, just came to get my uncles bass and guitar to go jam somewhere. When they left our grandmother explained what albino meant, a 7 and 5 year old, we didn't understand. But, never forgot them, and we're both big fans of them both, and have been since the beginning. Our uncle went on to Texas A&M and became an Architect. Even though he was asked to go to Austin with Johnny. Claimed he never regretted it, to his death bed.
June 6 2019, I remember I was on a holiday when I heard Dr John passed away. I listened to 'Such a night' to remember him that night. Great pairing with Johnny Winters here 👌 👏
Yes yes, Mac was watching like a hawk at what Johnny was putting down and he responded with that right hand adding spice to johnny's gumbo. supper is ready!
HIM AND DR. JOHN IS AMAZING TOGETHER ❤️ I JUST LOVE ❤️ THEM THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'M HEARING JOHNNY WINTERS HE'S GREAT AND THE BOTH TOGETHER AWESOME AWESOME AND AMAZING AND AWESOME AGAIN ❤ THIS
I play this video for my son all the time since he was a baby, he's two now loves music, has amazing rhythm thanks to guys like Johnny and the Good Dr.
@@arlenesheffield1136 I think you misunderstood me. I really appreciated your comment as a special one. You said something nice of Dr. John and his girlfriend and it was great while listening the set.
Johnny’s speed & clarity puts him in a class all by himself. Others played behind their backs, over their heads, whatever. He was just the best fir shear talent. Underrated is an understatement..
@@1madmaxx80 Yes. And the ludicrous editors of Rolling Stone Magazine, which once upon a time, was actually a worthwhile periodical. Now it’s run by hacks.
Some people are born with it. These guys were born with it and rode that wave all the way in. Thank you Dr. John and Johnny Winter for all your gifts you all gave the world.
I have heard Dr John before but listening to Dr John and Leon Redbone rendition of Frosty the Snowman is out of this world with their 2 distinctive voices
I seen Johnny many times and dr. John adjoining other people but I really remember Johnny when he got his first few tattoos I believe it was at the club Benet in sayreville it was up the road from my house at the time small venue 200 people at the most
I haven't seen or heard from Dr. John & Johnny Winters in ages. They are both great and still have their beautiful voices. It shows how old I've gotten.😎
Thanks for sticking it all together into one! The DVD I've got of this has all the bloody commercials in it. The 'In Session' of Albert King & Stevie Ray Vaughan has been available on CD, DVD etc for years, it's a damn crime that these two shows aren't as well.
There was a jazz pianist, Marilyn Mcpartlin, who had a weekly radio program called Piano Jazz. She & a guest would chat and play together for a hour. A mix of duet & solo. Her technique was the same stride style as Dr J. So when he joined her of the show they melded instantly. It was a lot like this session, it flowed so smooth. I think NPR has those 1980s sessions archived & possibly accessible
I played on that stage too! It was a wedding reception, with my band Straight Cut (video available upon request). A great honour to play there... I'll bet you knocked it out of the park, brother
From Cannal Jimmy... still have the tape. Totally insane to think this session ( and all others...this show was legendary ) never got played more than a couple of time.
Can you believe it ... a calm white skeleton working that longhaul ship plank fretboard if it was a paper plane .. the music pipeclay under his hands . what a master 😵

Now this is a real blues comment!

I saw a lot of guitarists in my day, but when I saw Johnny, I was never more impressed! He was the greatest guitarist I ever saw!👍😎🎸🎶
Under rated by who? The plebs who got their heads up Clapton & Van Halens butts?

@@74dartman13 as a player Johnny Winter had almost no peers, his only problem was he wasn't ever a good song writer like his brother Edgar was.
I saw Dr John in San Diego California, I saw Johnny Winter live at Anaheim Stadium. Love to see them both in session! So cool!❤😂
I seen johnny 9 times man..no budy like johnny...

What is Edgar Winter doing these days?
A Johnny Winter tribute album
What's Johnny Winter been doing these days? May he rest in the bosom of Abraham until the trumpet blows on the Last Day.
What do you think he's done living off Johnny's money
He just put an album out last year
Nothing against the SRV/Albert King episode but I like this episode much better
