Watch pricing is crazy… Nobody wants to pay $400 for a mechanicalSeiko… But will easily pay over $300 for a plastic quartz swatch. 😁

True, but the key thing about the very-high-margin plastic Swatch is its large ‘Omega’ print at the top of the dial, so normies kid themselves they’re getting a great cheap Moonwatch, which is why Swatch Group does this; selling a $30 for $300 ka-ching! Like it or not Seiko hasn’t got the same brand equity as Omega, or an Omega-branded Swatch.
I agree that the new Seiko will actually end up selling for around $199 (or less) soon enough. And at that price, I’ll definitely grab one. I love the updated dials. Thanks for another great video!

They are nice but agreed. I'm looking at SSK001/003 atm and they're selling around £200-220 vs £420 brand new. As a watch modder and hobbyist who can even build something just as good if not better its insanity to me. Lord knows why they think they can do it
When the only complaints are about the price, that means that the product itself is amazing! I own one (the black one) and I cannot be happier than now!

I bought the snsx79 a few months ago and now seeing the new ones I'm still glad i did. 3.5 times the price for hacking and hand winding and a better bracelet seems nuts!

Hardlex is fine and the bracelet seems ok! These UA-camrs can spend thousands of dollars on a single piece but say that 400$ is too much , what a joke

It's weird to me that people slam Seiko for charging this much while giving a free pass to the Citizen tsuyosa, which costs about the same 😂
Seiko can charge whatever they want for their pieces. They just need to find consumers willing to pay that price. If Swatch can charge $400 for a plastic Omega copy, they can charge $400 for a real watch. Yea they will be at the bargain bin soon. It’s their problem then.
I’m not too worried about the New Snxs price. In 2 months you will be able to get them for like $200.

People don’t buy Seiko watches for the materials, specs or movement quality/ accuracy, they buy them for the brand name and design.

I think the most insane thing about the new SNXS is how its priced relative to other current Seiko 5 models. 100+ bucks more than the official retail price for the DressKX which offers the exact same specs except its thiner, so in other words, better. The new SNSX has no reason to be 12+mm thick!
Not a fan of the "sporterization" of the SNXS, but the technical upgrades are fine and prove that better water resistance and movements can be put in smaller cases. The price however is a joke.

I got the opportunity to try the new Seiko 5 edc watches on and I have to say it looks fantastic and does feel a little more premium than other 5s
I recall the LE 200T.Graph with the vintage Valjoux 7734 movement. Limited to 300 units, they never seem to come up on the secondary market.
I'm calling it the Hamiltona !!. Pick of the bunch for me is the Cimier , bi-compax with a twist , love it.
With Sellita movement, doxa price is too high considering christopher ward using same movement and their divers are priced just around 1000k$.

Agree with Psysso. I do not consider new brands. Doxa is such a great brand like Squale, for the Divers watches. And the good thing is that those brands are for watches lovers, you can have great discount from every jewellery because they don’t sell those often. Easily you can scrap 20/25% of the price. With CW you can’t do it.

I didn't like the second hand of the new Snxs , why all model have red colour second hand , why champagne and blue dial version have black day date , for me it's weird

Seiko is just pricing their watches from the affordable section so that they can sell Watches from their sister brands like Lorus. I think Citizen is taking over as the new king of affordable watches.
Citizen is also not the best example, they also charge 300-400 for watch with 8000 series movement no screw down crown and large dimensions. They ace is still NY0040 diver with still cost around 250 USD.
I like the Bracelet and Clasp of the Seikos. You don't get anything like that from other brands (but you can buy vintage).
I will definitely buy the new Seiko if it comes out with a cover similar to the snxs79.
Plus honestly for people saying there are better options at that price? Not at 36mm-37mm there aren’t. Better movement, 100m WR (swimmable), Seiko quality lume, tell me what else is out there? Got my SNK on my wrist now and am stoked for a quality heir. Plus hardlex is fine.

The new SNXS price does seem more than a tad high. I got the old graphite dial version some years ago and swapped the bracelet out for a strap right away, It's a great looking watch but the hands are misaligned (all of my old 7S movement Seiko series 5 hands are also out of whack, not a movement issue just assembly QC) but for the price I paid
$400 ?? Add a saphire crystal and milled clasp and maybe. This one? No way!
it will go down to 200 in less than a year. Seiko 5 models always go down.

Seiko name allows them to MSRP these watches at slightly higher prices knowing full-well they will be sold at discount anyway. Also, just because you and some others are "tired" of Moonswatch releases doesn't mean that everyone is, especially judging by the enthusiasm towards the snoopy versions.
They should make a blue snoopy version of the MoonSwatch :D

Awesome video as always..what are Seiko thinking...if they just released these at £200 - £250 they would sell them by the tonne...but £400 is just silly...that doxa is awesome and the new dimensions are just 🤯 extremely wearable...the Cimier is very cool and sharp...the cream is my fave and I love the case back...very nice indeed
The RRP is £340 not £400. Factor in a 20-30% discount that you commonly see with Seiko and you'll be getting these for £260 soon enough if not at release immediately. I was able to find the field GMT for 25% off at launch.

@@ninosalvati379 I do agree that it is a bit expensive when you consider the dresskx RRP. But Seiko released the dresskx years ago and they don't raise prices of existing models ever. So I imagine that a dresskx released today would be pricier. I would have thought £280 (350 USD) would be the right ball park for RRP
Also this is a majorly upgraded watch in comparison - bracelet, movement, water resistance and finishing have all taken a significant leap. So they haven't just increased the price without improving the product as many people are saying. I have an snxs79 and I'm sure this will be a much better package
When the price of the seiko drops to something reasonable like they always do ill probably pick one up.
The nh movement isn’t an upgrade to the 7s. The tolerances are the same.
Hacking and handwing on an automatic movement with such wide tolerances is pointless
Perhaps I'm missing something, but why is hand winding pointless on a less accurate watch? I enjoy winding a watch up by hand at least half way before I wear it regardless of its timekeeping ability

If you paid RR for a Seiko then you either have too much money or not enough patience, of course they will come down 20-30-40% in price, they all do and anyone who likes, collects or has purchased Seiko in the last few years knows this… so what’s the point in whinging or complaining about it? I don’t know why people would even mention it “ oh Seiko used to be sooo cheap “ yeah they were and looked great but they had shit bracelets and a movement that by today’s standards is crap. Today they are better so cost more. Oh the clasp is cheap… so is every pressed clasp on every brand.. so what! Everything is more expensive today than it was 5 years ago get over it, most watch brands have 1 sometimes 2 prices increases a year, the same tissot gentleman I purchased in December 22 retailed for $1200 aud. Today it’s $1360… same watch. Stop bitching about things you can’t change and shop smarter.
For 400 euro you can buy a steinhart with a eta élaboré caliber, made in Switzerland with 300m water resistant. I agree with you, a Seiko 5 tuned for 400 euro no thank you.

İ have seiko 5 snk385, it has oyster style case, much better than snxs ,i changed the dial and hands, i bought an original seiko jubilee bracelet it fits perfectly and the watch looks awesome ,it only doesnt have hacking i dont care much about it and all these modifications costed about 100 usd ,the watch itself is 150 usd ...total 250 usd and an awesome watch nearly originally seiko ... So 400 usd is much for new snxs i agree...
Mate, Hamilton's H-10 is indeed a Powermatic 80, hence it is a 3 Hz movement, not 4 like you said around third minute of the vid
Seiko still missing a trick - they should do a global release akin to the SBTR line but based on the Pogue chrono (case shape, colors). People would snap these up!
The Hamilton looks like a fashion Boss or Hilfiger quartz watch.

I mean , you are right, 400$ - is little bit more , then always. But honestly, seiko still suggests great watches. To me - it is fine to spend 350-400$ on seiko-rather than buy a microbrand watch without any guarantees

Agreed. Bought the 38mm orange 5KX for a mod project. Except the movement, dial, hands, and lume, the quality was horrible. Clasp had only two microadjusts. Bracelet was oyster style; and each link was hollow. Mineral (hardlex) crystal. Push / pull crown. No pip for the insert. Absolute garbage

I could buy an original SNXS, and either an NH36 or a branded 4R-36, do the swap myself and save $200.
I still consider it over the prx, I just love the snxs, but I never bought one, because the movement is trash and not made for daily driving it, the nh36 is perfect for me, I had other watches with it. I have waited so long for this, I was just talking to a friend, that my "dream watch" doesn't exists and told him that I want a snxs with a nh36 and 100 wr.

seiko watches ALWAYS stabilize in price. have watch channels not learned this at all? the 5KX can be found in some variants for as low as 160$. The field sprg models went down to 200$, the 5KX GMT went down to 250$. the list goes on and on and on.

Bought a SNK805 off ebay for CAD80 a couple years back. Nifty little watch! Would I pay >$400 for pretty much the same thing nowadays? Hell no! 4R movements are still basic at best, who does mineral crystals any more?, and Seiko has a knack for terrible bracelets. This serie is a $200 buy at best, especially compared to what comes out of China.
As long as you don't mind buying Chinese watches made by children and slave labour.
What's with all of you including you the guy who reviewed the watch with the Sapphire crystal obsession. Is it really a deal breaker. First off, you're reviewing a watch off of a picture. Really!!! I bought that watch 2 days ago and I can tell you it's stunning. The finishing, the dial, the bracelet, the lume. In real, it is not at all like in the pictures. Worth every penny and you guys get stuck on a freaking crystal. You forget it's a Seiko, a great brand. They upgraded the bracelet from folded to solid links, the water resistant is upgraded from 30m to 100m, the movement was upgraded to the 4R36 with hacking, you've got great lume, brushed and polished case and the finishing is way better than the snxs and you guys all you have to say is the f###cking Sapphire crystal! You'll buy a plastic cheapo moonswatch with no Sapphire crystal for 400 bucks just because they stamped on it Omega. It's not an Omega, it's a freaking plastic swatch with pushers that break easily. Get serious guys and buy yourself a nice Seiko that will last for decades.
Complaining that really nicely finished stainless steel watch with a mechanical movement day/date from Seiko with heritage costs 400 $ in 2024 is crazy. Go buy a 50$ plastic Casio and stop crying if you can't afford it.

If only Seiko released an updated SNKL model - I'm actually wearing one ( don't ask..) of mine right now ( silver dial- devine). I'll take the upgraded (!) calibre & hardlex with the increased (?) antimagnetism ( a 'thing' of mine) & 100 metres water resistance.
Of course, I'd wait for the price to drop as well.

Seiko started the inflation trend before it was cool and now they're applying general inflation on top of their made up inflation and it's almost hilarious.
I think they're testing how far they can get away with it at this point, because their price strategy has been paying off so far. It doesn't even match their own price catalog.
Maybe they target some clueless rich kids, trapped into a Seiko boutique with a 500 bill in hands and a salesman hitting them with a 10% discount on this 400 dollars bargain. They scoop up the top of the buyers before getting down in price to maximize profit.
So you think 400$ for a real watch, stainless steel, automatic is way too much, but you say nothing about a plastic watch with quartz and crap strap that's 300$ and should never cost more than a dw5600. Seems like youtubers are on a mission against seiko.

The Seiko price probably has something to do with the collapse of the Japanese economy. For the first time in many decades Japan finally raised interest rates from negative rates into positive. Inflation is squeezing everyone but Japan harder than most western economic nations.

Wow a full show of sub 40mm watches. Why I don’t get the fascination with dinky unisex watches. Like the brands are saying these Gen Z sensibilities are so fragile, let’s give them these 39mm or less pieces and keep selling the regular men’s size. I am willing to bet when the same watches is offered in both large and unisex, the large will always sell more.
Watch size is a question of fashion. Wrist watches, originally, were made for women because men carried pocket watches. It was the world wars that popularized the military issue wrist watches and they were itty bitty. In the early 2000s large watches became popular. I still prefer a large watch and find 39 and lower too dainty. I think in the end buy what you like.
Brands are just trying to cater to white affluent Gen Z as every other one in their Gen is not into watches. They prefer wearable tech. They are a niche. When large and unisex are offered together the large one always sells first.
They aren't coming for your watches dear. They are just giving people choices :)
