  • I recorded these clips for my own comparison purposes since these are my 2 current favorite fuzz pedals, but thought it would be worth sharing! What do you think?
Personally, I prefer the shigeharu for my own style of playing because it has more note definition and the midrange voicing sits just right, especially for the low output single coils I play. Overall I think it's definitely the more versatile of the 2, which is huge for me since I only allow myself 2 dirt pedals on the board. The pizza to me shines more on leads, and for sludgy stoner riffage (especially with humbuckers, which is where it shines brightest IMO)! It is absolutely tasty in that context!

This is excellent and does a wonderful job of showing the range of each pedal. Thank you, Megan!

Bless your heart for doing this demo. At the risk of sounding like a Caroline fanboy, these have definitely been my two favorite fuzz pedals for the last few months. Your demo made me realize how much common ground they share. But in the end, I agree the Shigeharu would definitely be my desert island fuzz.

Love the way you demo these and show the riffs clean each time. Beautiful riffs too that show off what fuzz can do both for power chord sustain and crunchiness of distortion but also having enough of the entire chord playing at times so we can hear if the strings get muddied together or are still distinguishable. Subbed!

You share the same belief as me of only having two drive/distortion/fuzz pedals on a board. It’s better and its cool to have two different shades of fuzz or drives. For me I dig the Hawaiian pizza.

Shigeharu has been on my board for many years! So that one haha. I tend to use fuzz more for rhythm than lead/riff based stuff tho so that's a big reason why I personally chose it over the pizza. Just has more chord clarity for that kind of stuff.

@@MeganL thank you. I ended up getting the Hall of Fame and flashback for my hydrasynth by the way. I'm definitely going to get Shigeharu. I've listened to hundreds of dirt pedal demos. This is by far the best one I've heard, besides the audio adventure ones that are discontinued
