I've heard that about copper before. I got some but then learned it can interfere with zinc absorption so decided to stop taking it. Glad to hear it worked for you.
@Sandra.Viewer Hello! Could you please provide the specific brands of the products you’re using that have reversed your grey hairs? I’m interested in trying but hesitant on which brands to buy, don’t want to choose a product that won’t be beneficial. Thank you! God bless.
This is strange. It happened to me. My dad died in 2021. My hair turned grey very soon. I also aged quickly my skin looking tired and old. Does anyone know why this happens ?
I started going grey at 13 yo and by 18 yo I was regularly coloring my hair to cover the grey. I become completely grey by my early 30s. It became way too much maintenance to color my hair (needing touch ups every 2 weeks), so I eventually gave up and just let my grey grow out and am happy with the way it looks. I’m still young and maybe it ages me, but saving hundreds of dollars and hours in the salon every month is so worth it.
turned grey at age 19, glad i am not the only one. my hair are now white at age 43, i still color it every week, but deeply respect the ones who do not. i live a healthy lifestyle btw and so tired of people telling me that i am doing something wrong and the greying is my responsibility...
I stared greying in my late 20’s due to genetics. I started coloring when someone thought my daughter was my granddaughter. I colored until I was 50. I had to do it every 14 to 18 days to keep roots from showing. My colorist did a fantastic job and no one knew I was coloring. I always felt if you are going to color don’t show roots. My hair is the texture of Dr.Ellis so it’s more difficult to hide grey roots. And I think it looks really tacky to see someone’s grey roots. Not coloring at all looks better in my opinion. I do miss looking younger but not all the money and time spent to keep it that way. Now at 60 my hair is nearly total white. I do get some low lights every 3 months to give my hair dimension.
I moved from Turkey to Germany with hope to have better life but it was a wrong decision. Since moving in one year I lost a lot of hair and my hair colour turned gray. The big reason was climate change, social environment change, loneliness, different cultures and moral values. I lose my motivation for workout and get lazy person so I gained weight and my body changed, hence I don’t suit in my old clothes. However, after my Bali holiday I started planning my life again and willing change my routine and get again self confident and love my body. I recognised that my hair loss stopped. Now I hope my hair colour will reverse. A long term holiday was the solution for me.
Same for me I moved to Sweden 6 years ago from Turkey ( right before living in Greece and Israel) ; my health just declined, hated the food and the culture, tho yes, its less chaotic, lack of life and sun and social life and microbiome on all imported food was death to my health. We moved back to greece with my swedish husband and Im much healthier. No wonder those places arent blue zones.
@@thegalhorowitz I’m also planning to go back to Turkey 🇹🇷 but the economy is so bad there, hence everything got very expensive. This situation demotivates local people and they are unhappy with their lives and jobs. It is so hard to decide something. I’m glad that you could move to greece 🇬🇷 Moving is involved with high costs, energy and nerves.
Just started my gray hair journey and loving it, sure it's not easy but at 59 I'm over coloring it and am proud of my age and my looks, silver sisters unite!!
I just turned 53! No gray hair yet...Both my mother and sister have full heads of white hair, they dye their hair regularly. My sister is one year older! I got curious at your comment, for I often wonder what is doing the trick with me. Is there something you attribute your going white only around 59 to...?
No....I don't embrace my grey hairs, I color them. Not ready to go down the grey rabbit hole because grey hair ages you. I've never seen anyone with grey hair, where it hasn't aged them. Kudus to those who embrace it, but it ain't me...
Nicely put. Living in south africa I have to say that I've had magnificent results generally from going on the carnivore diet. I'm 3 months in and my overall health has improved significantly. Most people here and probably there too are hesitant to try it out. Besides thickening of skin deeper sleep lifting of brain fog, I've noticed my hair has been darkening. Try it out...really!
Wow! This is one of the most well done educational videos I've seen. Clear, concise, thorough, and informative. You've done a great job of walking someone through the topic.
My husband passed away suddenly 2 yrs ago. We were only 54 yr old. My hair has always been a chestnut brown but within 6 months had so much gray hair. I am still so sad and struggling in every way. So I guess stress is the reason I am going gray.
This is strange. It happened to me. My dad died in 2021. My hair turned grey very soon. I also aged quickly my skin looking tired and old. Does anyone know why this happens ?
I don't know what you believe or what you're willing to consider, but to anyone struggling with loss or who is giving up on life I always recommend 2 things: Having a past life regression and listening to many near death experiences. These things will change your life and your whole perspective on life. Find a hypnotherapist that's licensed with the Newton Institute for your regression. There's nothing scary about it and you're aware the entire time. Your consciousness basically splits into two, half of it is you in the office telling the therapist what you see as they guide you and give suggestions on what to ask beings you might meet, while the other half of your mind is traveling to the past and the other side. You don't have to strictly do a session to see a past life, my brother couldn't move past the death of his dog and feeling like he could've done more and he did a sort of free form session to explore the other side and he found his dog playing in a field with other animals, they then spent about 2 hours together where his dog told him he was proud of him and he'd been in his life to teach him how to do kind acts and care for another without expecting anything in return, then he showed him moments from his life where this lesson had helped him do things for other people unselfishly. It really helped my brother let go of the guilt he'd carried. And my girlfriend did a session more focused on meeting your spirit guides and asking them a bunch of questions. I didn't even believe in past lives until we all started doing regressions, then I became obsessed with near death experiences because they tell of the same types of places and experiences as regressions but to a much much higher degree.
I started going grey fairly young (after my mother) and I coloured it dark brown well into my 50s. But it was starting to become a pain because I would have to get the roots coloured every 3-4 weeks and it was expensive and time consuming (if I coloured it at home I made a mess in the bathroom lol). I decided to embrace my grey hair and started growing it out around my mid-50s. I love my grey because it actually looks silver and I get a lot of positive comments on it and people ask me if that is real or if I coloured it that way and I tell them it's all natural. Some days when I look in the mirror I feel I look my age (which will be 60 in July) and that's okay, but once in a while I think about colouring it brown again but then I never do. I think my grey is here to stay because I love it and it is only when I think other people might judge me about it I get self-doubts and many of the negative comments come from actual friends. But I believe in aging gracefully and loving yourself at any age :)
My brother-in-law took colloidal silver on a daily basis years ago and all his hair grew back in dark. If he stopped, it went back to gray. That's the only thing I've seen that worked "naturally" without color.
Taking silver can completely mess you up though, like any heavy metal. My sister has become very ill from taking it and for 2 years now nothing she has done has managed to get the silver out of her body.
@@joghog just looked him up, that is insane, the man was literally blue! Poor guy Wikipedia says what caused it was silver chloride though, not colloidal silver which he took later in life. Either way I think that amount of heavy metal doesn't really belong in the human body...
I've been coloring my own hair for many years after being frustrated with the time and cost of salon color, my scalp stinging, the smell, and then often not being happy with the color. Originally I used L'oreal, which had a strong odor and was full of harsh chemicals. The more natural brand of hair color has almost no odor and doesn't sting my scalp at all. There are a couple natural brands available, not counting henna, I prefer NatureTint; -not sponsored, just aiming to save someone the trial and error I went through. I use 2 or 3 different colors to get highlights and lowlights like I had as a young kid. My hair color is similar to Dr Ellis. I use 7A for roots and 10 A for highlights, occasionally I'll use an 8A or 8N for roots and skip highlights. A = Ash = cooler tone, N = Neutral for a warmer tone, more strawberry blonde. This costs less than $20 every 6 - 8 weeks and takes about 90 minutes.
I just turned 55 and Ive been dye free for over 2 years. Im not fully gray as I still have a lot of my natural brown. But Im embracing it. I hated dying my hair. It took too much money and time and those chemicals are not good for you so I said screw it I'm free. Don't care what anyone thinks and get more compliments now on my hair than I ever did when it was dyed.
You took the words right out of my mouth, lol. I too said screw it! I’m almost 55 and quit coloring my hair in 2017 (my husband doesn’t color his hair, why am I?) BEST DECISION EVER!!! My mother said it’s one of the most freeing things you do as a woman and I agree.
I’m 53 and stopped colouring my hair 16 months ago. I now love it, my hair is in great condition and I love the volume and gentle curl that has come back since stopping the colour. It was hard at times to keep going, but I’m so glad I did. I feel way more confident now and no longer am battling the silver crown that came through between colours.
I noticed my hair starting to go grey in my late 20’s early 30’s. So during 10 years I dyed my hair to cover it. One day going over my finances I tallied up my expenses for hair appointments for a year. I haven’t dyed my hair since, and that’s about 10 years ago. 💕
That's awesome! I have a similar story and haven't dyed my hair in 3+ years. I love it, the confidence I get from growing the perfect color for my face, also no stress over "roots showing" and appreciating that I get to make the decision on what beauty means to me, instead of allowing society to define it, feels amazing!
@@LinA-it9vdhair color doesn’t make you look older. Loving my grays and my sisters are jealous of how much my gray makes my features pop- pair that with a bold lip and it’s a winning look. You not think gray makes you look older because they are used to only seeing old people with the color. My gray doesn’t make my face look any less full or youthful (I’m in my 30s)
@@TetrisAddiction How wonderful for you! Most grey drags complexion down and drains people. Some women look terrific while others do indeed look older.
I just henna'd my hair today. I have to do it every 6-7 weeks and I'm so over it. But I still do it because I like how it looks afterward, and without the drying effects of chemical dyes. Someday I'll probably cut my hair short and let it be salt and pepper but that will need to be when I'm ready to start looking old. Right now I still pass for someone in their 30s even though I'm 50s, but only with freshly henna'd hair or a wig.
GR-7 is a brand of gray hair reversing products including hair tonic, shampoo, and vitamins which have helped my hair immensely over the last 6 months (I'm almost 39 and started going gray at 26) and nothing worked until now. That's why I found Dr. Ellis' statement at 5:58 very validating. Really informative video, thank you!
Was thinking similar thoughts myself..I am periodically making a joke (when talking to friends about looks, ect.) that all we have to do is switch up the leg shaving cream with the "hair grow helping" products, because...and this is a real thought.. we/science can't seem to figure out how to help us remove hair from unwanted places AND, at the same time, no clue how to help us grow the hair where we actually want nore of it. 😂 The/that joke I make is because it seems like the shaving products (anecdotally and according to my friends and /or other people they and have spoken to about these things) 'make' the hair actually grow more dencly and thicker, and the hair care products aren't making any difference at all and, in some cases, are even 'aiding' in hair loss and/or reduced quality of the hair. :) Sorry for my rambles, but I hope you 'got' what I mean :)
I started graying significantly after becoming a mom at 30. At 34 now, I have so much gray hair at the front of my head, and it ages me, so I choose to dye my roots monthly. It's a major pain, and I'd happily invest in a treatment to reverse the grays.
Same but stress for a different reason. I am going WHITE not grey and because I’m so pale it just looks like I’m receding 😫 they totally disappear against my skin. Doing my roots every 4 weeks is annoying as hell!
I've been using Vegamour for about a year now. I'm noticing a lot of new hair growth. The crazy thing, a lot of the new growth is dark. I am 56, been coloring my silver blonde since my early 30's. Not counting my chickens yet, but so far it seems to be making a difference.🤞🤞
Correction. Deficiencies are common in the developed world. Very common. Like 90%. Western doctors are not trained to recognize the subtle signs of functional nutrient deficiencies. That is why they use terms like “it’s genetic” or “it’s idiopathic” instead of correcting the underlying problem.
I used to think the same thing until I started seeing lots and lots of beautiful women actually choosing to go "platinum" which is a silver gray color. I figured if the 20 year old beauties are doing it I will go with it since #1: I get my silver hair naturally; and #2 it doesn't cost me a dime lol
There’s a Spartan shampoo that actually reverses grey hair. It takes 3-4 months to see a difference but it does work! It’s a round bar of soap that lathers nicely. I highly recommend it!!!
I’m going to be 63 in a couple of months and thinking of dyeing my hair for the first time. I had about 2-3% gray but this year seems to jump quickly to about 5-8%. I’m Asian descent. My gray hair is itchy too.
It’s really interesting bc when my father had completed his chemo Tx, not only did he start getting new hair growth, his hair did start growing back in dark instead of the grey that he did have!
5:55 Can you reverse gray hair? For all those like me who have already researched the causes of gray hair and are looking for reversal methods. Her answer is not really, not now.
Excellent video Dr. Ellis! I have gray hair, which I color, and am really struggling with the change in texture. It's gone from fine, straight, silky, smooth to frizzy and impossible to style. Wondering if you could do a video on how best to care for gray hair and deal with the changes in texture that occur.
I would love to see a tutorial of how you do your makeup. And if you don’t mind sharing, I would be interested in a video about all the skincare procedures you have had done or do to maintain your beautiful skin and appearance. Thanks for the great information.
I am turning 38 and got my first few gray hair when going through a divorce last summer, haven't got them more ever since. I'm actually proud of my few grays, I think they're cute, not planning to dye them. I feel like I appreciate so much what my body & soul have been through and therefore think the grays are a beautiful reminder of very hard times that we (me & my hair) have survived. ❤
Mee too got at 39 while divorcing from narc.. My crown in head got all white hair suddenly due to stress of divorce and the hard time before my ex put me throught...😢
I didn’t have a ton of gray hairs before, but now that my hair is growing back after chemo, I hardly have any. I mentioned it to my oncologist and she said it wasn’t possible!
I find it hilarious when doctors say something obvious isn’t possible. They do it constantly because if their little laptop doesn’t see a way to make money, it doesn’t have an answer for them.
I hope you're out of the woods for the moment 🤲🏻🤞🏻As someone said below how odd that when something is obvious they say it's not happening or it's "in the head/imagination/depression" As your oncologist she must have seen your hair before the chemotherapy! And she must have seen other patients to whom the same thing happened. From what Dr Ellis has said and from the comments I read such cases do happen. As long as she's a good oncologist to you, the fact that she's not a great derm isn't really important right 😁?! I wish you a good and stable recovery 🤞🏻
I started seeing grey hair in my 50s, although my natural color was still dominant. I decided not to dye it anymore in my late 50s. I started eating keto then carnivore in my early 60's. Now at 66, my hair is less grey than it was before I changed my diet. That has been pretty amazing. I have read commentary on many keto/ carnivore videos that others have had a similar experience. I did up my protein and fat consumption significantly, which may be contributing to this.
@DrSamEllis Most of the grey is toward the front as you can see in my YT picture. The back is more of my natural brown with very little grey. Also, the texture is still pretty consistent from when I was younger and it's still thick.
My gray hair seems to have a two-shade process, where some hairs head towards white/clear and others are some untinted dark color ... neither matching the brown that I used to have. It seems as if there are two distinct processes going on. I would have expected "death of melanocytes" to have a more uniform color.
I started taking PABA (para aminobenzoic acid) and catalase about 10 years ago. My hair stopped turning gray and is actually a little darker than it was 10 years ago.
copper and zinc compete for the same receptors..IE zinc blocks copper...so alternate both every other day..the higher the copper the darker your hair will get..
I started going gray in my 30’s and used to color my hair every few weeks and I did that for years and years. Then in my 50’s I developed Lichen Planopolaris and lost a ton of my hair, I stopped coloring it then. Thankfully the condition burned itself out and I regrew my hair and never went back to coloring. I am so very happy to have the easiness of natural hair again and I am proud to be gray and I love it !!! I get so many compliments on my hair color and in fact people ask me where I get my hair done because they love the color !!!
My mom is 82 & only has a tiny fluff of grey. She refuses to do any facial skincare, but she's quite vain about her gorgeous dark brown hair. No idea why she didn't grey, I assume it's a normal anomaly?
İt was a program where a 100 years old couple was invited. İt was amazing, a woman had more than half of her hair dark black brown colour, 30-40% grey only. İ thought grey hair is necessary part of aging but it turns out no. İ think it's a reaction of many people to stress and lack of some nutritions.
I've read that Sun-in product accelerates graying because of the hydrogen peroxide which does make sense to me since it produces more free radicals. I used it in the past and now I stopped. Also, I noticed that PRP for hair loss also reverses gray hair to an extent
I stopped coloring my hair as part of doing all I can think to help prevent dementia. I know of no studies linking hair dye to dementia but common sense tells me putting chemicals on my body can't be good for me. I started dyeing my blonde hair when it became more dishwater blonde rather than gray. I am now turning gray and embracing it.
I need to dye my hair every 4-5 weeks, I am 36 now and started to notice my first grey hair in my mid twenties. In my case it is genetics, so it is hard to influence it.
As part of an effort to get more protein into my diet for general health one of the first things I noticed is my hair started feeling thicker and healthier pretty quickly. Still waiting for the gray to reverse but I have hope.
My grandfather was in his 90s, and my mother was in her 70s when they passed away and had hardly any gray. I'm 64 and I have a ton of gray. My mothers mother, she had beautiful white hair.
My hair is sliver, with a tiny touch of pepper at the nape. I let mine grown in when I was around 56 years old. I am a retired barber. 💈 I receive so many compliments from women. Also asking if I color it. And what color do I use. It has thinned some. However it is shiny. My Mom became gray in her thirties. But hers appeared more frosted looking, or highlighted. My hair was straight when I was younger. Now it is wavy. Especially right after washing it. I appreciate all your advice Dr. Sam, I use 50 SPF sunscreen on my face daily. Wish I would have been more consistent on my arms and neck.
My great uncle had a doctor who was probably 50 and had all grey hair. She looked as though she was probably a blonde when younger but the way she styled it she looked great, I didn’t ask her age but she didn’t look as old as im sure she actually was. I think it’s easier for blonds to transition than brunettes but after it’s all grey, if you like it, rock it!
I'm 62 years old, and I'm a redhead. My father had red hair and went fully white-headed in his 40s. My hair started to go white in my early 50s, and I got to over 50% white. I have dyed my hair since I started to go white. However, about 3 years ago, I changed my diet to manage migraines and seizures, and I went carnivore. My stylist has noticed less white hair; she says I'm about 30% white now and to keep doing what I'm doing.
Surprised you didn't mention risks associated with hair dye. NYT just ran a "Well" piece on it, maybe within the last few months. Since reading it, I only do completely natural hair dye.
I started taking low dose oral minoxidil for male pattern baldness. Within the first 6 months I noticed a dramatic increase in gray hair. I stopped taking it immediately. I'm accustomed to my thinning hair, but increased gray was alarming. I'm hoping the graying reverses. Time will tell...
I have been going grey ever since I was 10 years old most of my hair on top is grey now and I recently found a grey hair in my arm pit. I’m 25 years old now
I have had my hair fall out and also from stress, Stress has to be one of the biggest factors that plays on hair. I realize that we as humans have to learn to deal with our stresses in better ways then just letting things get to us.
I started graying while on accutane for a year at 31 but I've been off it for a year now and the grays haven't fallen out. We forget it's a cancer drug.
Re the comments on copper, I started taking copper because it's needed for collagen production and I did notice some strange stuff with my hair, nothing ground breaking, but for instance I have eyebrows which are mostly still brown but I have white ones as well. I found a couple which had white on the ends but at the roots they were suddenly brown like a switch had been turned on halfway through the growth cycle, so I think there is something to the copper thing.
Most of my family went grey in their 20/30s but they were all smokers. I never smoked and I have some grey but you really have to be close to me to see them. My hair has gotten darker over the years. When I was younger I had a mixture of blond, brown and red in my hair. Now it’s mostly dark brown and a bit of grey sprinkled in lol. My gram took an iron supplement back in the early 2000s (she was in her late 70s at the time and her hair got darker, she still had mostly grey and white but I noticed in the back it was almost brown rather than grey. I had an aunt who was battling cancer in 2018/2019 and after chemo her naturally white blonde hair grew back a light brown/dirty blonde color and was curly. She had extremely straight hair before that. My dad (aunts brother) didn’t go grey as he aged but his hair darkened from white blond to a darker yellow, he was a smoker as well and his hair receded a bit but he never had grey (he passed at 51, so he didn’t make it to senior hair).
I've got a lot of grey hair, and since my natural hair color is dark brown, it kind of makes my hair look blond in some lights. I have a lot of streaking. I have also noticed that since I have reduced the amount of stress in my life that some of my hair has two inches of dark hair at the root, and six inches of grey at the bottom. I do want to try copper and zinc, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Great video, Dr. Ellis. I started going in my late 20s I’m 58 and I have not dyed my hair since last May I think I just may let it all go. I don’t necessarily think it makes me look older, maybe I just might be ready to forgo the chemicals and let nature take its course.
my mom started going grey in her 30s but she was a very stressful person. My dad didn't start going grey until he was about 65-66 and he is a very chill person. his started after he medical emergency with colon cancer where he was in immense pain for a short period of time. had a softball size tumor removed along with 16" of his colon. had a colostomy bag for a year then decided to have everything reattached so had to have another surgery. in the ten yrs since now at 75 he's significantly grey bcuz of onset of covid panic created and my mom having pancreatic cancer and dying a year later after having surgery and chemo. that tore him up emotional and physically. he was by her side every step of the way until her last breath. we all were. my grey hair also sky rocketed during this time too at only 47 then from like 30% to 80%. I now look older than my 75 yr old dad I'm only 51. I'm about 90% now it's crazy how fast my body change in just a few months. I was found to be dealing with an autoimmune disorder which exploded on me i guess from the stress of covid and watching my mom suffer through her cancer. I'm doing much better 3 n half yrs later and trying to see if can possibly restore some of the grey hair knowing the majority of it was stress related. oh I'm built and look exactly like my dad while my two other brothers look like mom side of the family. I too was looking like my late 20s in my early 40s until i got sick and then married at 41 lol
Hi Dr. Ellis, what a great video! I’m going to be 40 next week (but at least at the beginning of COVID was still getting carded for R-rated movies!); still, I’m obsessed with delaying my greying. It seems to be the one telltale sign that I may not be a teenager anymore. I have dark almost black hair. Permanent dyes are always an option, but I love the look of highlights, specifically balayage, which is hard to camouflage with all the stray silvers. My current stylist recommends holding off on permanent dyes (using the Demi-permanent options) for as long as possible. It still kind of sucks. Demi-permanent doesn’t take away from the greys at all. I have been trying Arey (both the supplement and the topical spray), but don’t know if they have made any difference. Time will tell, but hopefully science comes up with new innovations soon!
I'm about to turn 49 years and still not turning gray hair, i would like to know what could i do to prevent my hair to turn gray in the future? Does He Shou Wu (Fo-Ti) would work to prevent it?
My ex boss’s friend had premature gray hair during his early 20s. He went to see an experienced traditional Chinese medicine doctor, prescribed some Chinese herbal medicine, and completely reversed the gray hair
Hi doc, nowadays there are some hair toners and/or shampoos to reverse gray hair.. the ingredients stimulate the production of the melanin, so to say.. do you think it is fake or not?
Tea mask on my hair once per week for a few hours works for me - I am 54 for your reference. The idea is to remove the buildup of hydrogen peroxide in hair follicles, since we won't produce enough catalase as we age.
Hello, Just stumbled across this video. I’m curious, my hair will start to turn gray and then all of a sudden will go back to its natural color. I’m 53 and still have the greatest amount of my hair as its natural color. Although there are certainly few strands of gray hair in there. I was just curious as to why, the strand would turn gray and then go back to. It’s natural color.
Your eye makeup is stunning! I would love to see how you apply it. I have hypothyroidism and once in a while I throw out a solid white hair it happens on my head, and eyelashes. I take vegamour grow ageless gray delay vitamins. I have actually seen on strands of hair where my hair went from being pigmented to not and then back again to growing with pigment.
I've noticed something so odd at the k-12 where I teach in Hawaii. A large number of my middle school students are getting a noticeable amount of gray hair and all of them are of mainly Samoan descent and some with Hawaiian/Samoan descent. I am so curious as to why this is. Genetics? Diet mixed with their genetics? I feel so bad that 6th/7th graders are having to deal with this, but most students are pretty nice and don't tease them.
Hi. I'm almost 72 and just started going gray this past year. I would say about 15% of my hair is gray. I'm CLOSE to taking steps to dye it since I am NOT a gray haired personality.... My sister started in her early 30s.
I got my gray hair when I was 26 even I wasn’t married at that time, stressed me so much, there is no instant safe products for root touch up except hair dye.
Hello Dr. Ellis, great video. I had always wondered what was going on with my grey hair. I started turning at 21 and am now 65. My grandmother turned all silver in her twenties as well. Since I grew out my silver hair 6 years ago, no offense silver sisters, I just can not get use to it and have tried to color it back to a light brown. My silver (white) does not take to color any more. Is there a reason? Thank you for your time!!
I'm 35, on some strands that I plucked (I know), the strand of hair was gray, then brown again, then gray... It means it went back to being brown. Saw this several times. Does this mean it is linked to defficencies ? I have had a chronic B12 and iron defficiency for about 15 years^^
I had my first gray hair at 15 years old! I’m 64 now and embraced my gray hair quite a few years ago. I have long curly gray hair and am told that I look more youthful with the gray. Yes, silver sisters unite!
I’m 36 and I think im like 36% gray already 😅 I have cousins that went like 30-40% gray before their 30’s. So it’s true Doc, genetics always gonna win at the end no matter what.
I'm 79 and still have almost no gray hair. I have hereditary spherocytosis and hereditary hemachromatosis so have always high high levels of iron (ferritin) which may be part of the reason. I have also been taking a number of supplements including zinc, selenium and a full spectrum vitamin B supplement for over 30 years.
Dr. Ellis, I've seen recommendations to increase copper consumption to reverse enzyme loss due to cortisol, but if it's norepinephrine and not cortisol that plays that role in enzyme loss, is there any correlating mineral/chemical that would reverse the damage by norepinephrine?
I think it's genetic and life style. I have a few white hairs being blonde. That being said I taught college PE classes and 18-22 year olds have grey hair prodomently dark hair girls. I've lived a Vegan non processed life style and I do supplement with greens etc. But it's okay to dry your roots just get a shade that covers not your hair or it's too dark. I tried darker and looked brown which was dark ash blonde. My sister is brunette. It's semi permanent. I don't have to worry about roots quite yet. To wash their own. Maybe when it's all white at 80 that will be fine... My mom is dark blonde and really has a lot of her natural hair; she never dyed it. God bless ❤
I started greying around 27 and Im about to be 32, I colour my greys personally, im just not ready to go full grey, I also just feel like it doesn't look great on my skin tone, I feel like I would have to wear a skin tint or something to give me a little colour because im so pale!
I got my first gray hair at 19. Then decided to go to medical school and now at 29 I have manyy grays throughout. They definitely multiplied rapidly in school so I can anecdotally confirm that stress is a strong factor 😅
It's mostly genetic. I am 54 and i have a handful of grey hairs. My parents started going grey in their later 50s and 60s. My mom is 78 and has salt and pepper hair. My brothers have bad diets, they started going grey in their 40s.
Stress is a biggie, for me it's genetics as I am very zen :) At 25 I started colouring my hair and the grey would appear back 5 minutes later 🙃🙂🥰and I stopped 5 years ago. At 57 I have been using castor oil on my dark blonde light brown hair and it is depositing a caramel colour on some of my greys. I have been doing it for 7 months. I enjoy my grey hair, this was just an extra benefit from when I put it on my face twice a day and now I also put castor oil on my roots before bed. On hair washing day I will put castor oil all over my hair for a treatment the night before with a shower cap and towel for my pillow. Has this worked for anyone else? I also eat clean and no sugar.
Great information! I just started to get a few gray hairs at 50 (I am 51) and luckily they blend in with my ash blonde hair pretty well. I heard glutathione supplementation was helpful in reducing oxidative stress and delaying grey hair and starting taking it about 5 years ago i can’t isolate my slowing to grey to glutathione because I also lead a healthy life except for stress but I have much less grey than my siblings who are around the same age as me. However my siblings both have darker hair, I wonder if Caucasians with darker hair are more prone to go grey earlier or if the contrast in color is just more noticeable?
I started noticing some gray hair in my late 20s. I covered it up for years. Mainly because I liked to switch up my hair color but at 33 I decided to stop dyeing it and embrace the greys. It’s 4 years later and I have significantly more greys. I’d say I’m about 40% grey hair. Some days i love it. Some days I feel like it ages me 😩 and some days I want to switch up the color and do something fun but I do think no dye for so many years has made my hair the healthiest it’s been in years
My hair has been turning grey since I hit 20. I'm 24 now and it's gotten worse. My parents both got grey at 40. It has made me extremely depressed and stressed. I'm ashamed of my hair. I really wish they would invent something to revert grey hairs...
I’ve used Mayraki color restoring treatment and it really works, you get your original color back. But the plant extract in it leaves horrible stains on pillows and towels, so I’ve stopped using it. It might be worth using for people who wash their hair regularly (so you can apply it in the morning and rinse in the evening for example). My mom has great results with it too!
@@neloabrahamI think the Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract (the Chinese Fo-Ti herb) might be a big part of it, there are some studies done on it darkening hair color!
@karinvancaspel if it stains your pillow, then it is a dye. Lmao. You are so gullible. When your gray turned dark, did you pluck it and see the root? Was the root black or gray?
@@ArcticWolf-ys7kb I didn’t pluck it so I wouldn’t know. I’ve been trying Fo-Ti capsules now, figured it doesn’t hurt to try. But it’s not really kind of you to just laugh at me.
Im using Arey Grey Serum, and Just For Men Control GX Shampoo. I just started so I dont know if they are really working, but im seeing some good results. Id like to know your opinion of these products though, as im just trying them out.
I used Arey for about 6 months and do think that it made a small difference. I have had one white/grey patch since late 20s (zero impact there but also would not expect it) but was noticing more along my part, etc. I am in my early 50s now. It definitely added to my hair health. I switched my hair dollars to Nutrafol which also has helped my hair health. I do feel that my grey hair has slowed down overall.
By 25, I started noticing grays, as did every other 25-year-old friend I had. Because every single person I knew in their 20s was going gray (Gen Xers), I never thought of my 20s as premature graying. It was interesting that is considered premature?
Yes, you can reverse grey hair. I reversed MY DOG's grey hair, when she had a limp start from a puppyhood broken leg showing up as arthritis at age 8. I started giving her 500mg of NMN powder in her food. She had an ENTIRELY grey head at that point, and most of her neck. After three months, her limp was gone so I started taking NMN for vision and for general pains of life aging, at age 59. I had about 70% grey bangs and a decent amount grey at my temple undersides. Today: My dog is only about 30% grey on her head. And I have a hard time finding the grey on my head. My bangs only have a few grey haris left, I could probably count them. This is after one year of use. I take 1500 mg per day, my dog still gets 500mg per day (she is 45 pounds). So absolutely, without copper supplement but with NMN, you can reverse grey hair. And besides, I feel 35 again.
I'm 5 years dye free! I grew out the color cold turkey and it was a fun thing. I choose to be more natural, and tbh I think harshly colored hair over gray looks fake and awful. I get so many compliments on my salt and pepper hair, and young girls even ask me where I got it done. I tell them, it's just nature, au naturel! Gray hair rules!
Copper and selenium have helped me reverse gray hair in a couple of months 🙌🏼 I'm 46 for your reference 😌
Can you share the protocol? thank you
Would you mind sharing the products you use? I take selenium and copper, and have not noticed a single change.
I've heard that about copper before. I got some but then learned it can interfere with zinc absorption so decided to stop taking it. Glad to hear it worked for you.

It doesn't age you. Awful that this doctor said that. What's aging is not taking care of yourself, not exercising, and not eating healthy

I do get some low lights every 3 months to give my hair dimension.

nothing to embrace about greys. it just ages you and does not look good at all. I color it.
Agree, and not ashamed to admit I don't want my hair to be grey. I will gladly dye it for the foreseeable future.

Where do you buy it?

It was hard at times to keep going, but I’m so glad I did. I feel way more confident now and no longer am battling the silver crown that came through between colours.
How did you manage to reverse grey hair ?
I noticed my hair starting to go grey in my late 20’s early 30’s. So during 10 years I dyed my hair to cover it. One day going over my finances I tallied up my expenses for hair appointments for a year. I haven’t dyed my hair since, and that’s about 10 years ago. 💕
Best money I’ve ever spent! Takes ten years off of me and lifts my spirits.
Way cheaper than anti depressants or counselling.

How do I have more hyperpigmentation in my skin but loss of pigment in my hair?
I know right?! 😥

Which Vegamour product are you using?
Correction. Deficiencies are common in the developed world. Very common. Like 90%. Western doctors are not trained to recognize the subtle signs of functional nutrient deficiencies. That is why they use terms like “it’s genetic” or “it’s idiopathic” instead of correcting the underlying problem.
Good point!

Amazing
My gray hair seems to have a two-shade process, where some hairs head towards white/clear and others are some untinted dark color ... neither matching the brown that I used to have. It seems as if there are two distinct processes going on. I would have expected "death of melanocytes" to have a more uniform color.

I started noticing grey hairs at around 24, I'm 28 now and I'm embracing it!
Nobody asked. Vid is for those who didn't like going grey.

What lipstick are you wearing? It’s beautiful!
Baby lights allow you to extend time in between appointments to 4 months, instead of touching up roots every 2 weeks.
I'm about to turn 49 years and still not turning gray hair, i would like to know what could i do to prevent my hair to turn gray in the future? Does He Shou Wu (Fo-Ti) would work to prevent it?
My ex boss’s friend had premature gray hair during his early 20s. He went to see an experienced traditional Chinese medicine doctor, prescribed some Chinese herbal medicine, and completely reversed the gray hair
do you happen to know the name of that herbal medicine?
@@samk7717 sorry i dont :( and unfortunately the doctor already passed away a few years ago, otherwise i would have asked for his contact
Does anyone know why we produce less melanin in our hair as we get older but not in our skin?
Hi doc, nowadays there are some hair toners and/or shampoos to reverse gray hair.. the ingredients stimulate the production of the melanin, so to say.. do you think it is fake or not?
Tea mask on my hair once per week for a few hours works for me - I am 54 for your reference. The idea is to remove the buildup of hydrogen peroxide in hair follicles, since we won't produce enough catalase as we age.
How do you make the tea mask? Does it produce a reddish color?
How do I make it go grey faster? I’d prefer it over my salt and pepper hair
Hello,
Just stumbled across this video.
Straight to the point. Excellent.
What is your lip color combo here? Stunning 😍
I tried eating healthier and exercising more while taking collagen
I’ve always had gray hair so the maintenance and cost of dyeing my hair seemed like too much. I’m seriously considering it has I’m getting older 😅
Your hair is so beautiful and beautifully long
I started noticing some gray hair in my late 20s.
My mom has great results with it too!
give me the recipe she used to solved grey hair Permanently.
@@karinvancaspel reply
I’ve been using Arey pills for a few months but my hair keeps getting greyer so it doesn’t seem to stop it and much less reverse it.
I swear I thought you had posted a video about led therapy and how that could possibly help with greying. Is there any truth / studies to that?
