I used to work for Kroger technology as a remote IT support for the stores and fuel center. 95% of the time if the fuel pumps went down it was bc of the fuel screens. I drove my mach e gtp from Kansas City to Chicago and back, last week. First road trip. I was a little worried to start. It took 3 stops each way. I was much more confident on the trip back. It is very easy especially with blue cruse. Charging at home is so easy. Comfort was great. One stop was 6 miles off the hiway and I got a 62 kw charger had to use a bathroom in a shoe store and hang out for an hour. I should have just charged for 30 min and gone to another stop. Live and learn.
Nice to hear that you're happier than ever with BlueCruise. I was impressed with it when we took a Mach-E for a test drive. Conversely, I am growing fed up with EAP in our Model 3. Sick of it! With the most recent updates, it has developed a serious case or Tourette Syndrome! If we opt for a Mach-E, I think I'd go for the California Route 1 model. As for charging, I really hope that, among all the non-Tesla EV owners, you will be the first to get a NACS-to-CCS adapter, as your insights to all things EV are so informative and personable. My wife likes the comfort and interior of the Mach-E much better than our Model 3. There's only one thing I'm not keen on about the Mach-E: the subscription for BlueCruise. Just let me buy it and keep it, with whatever upgrades are later available OTA. I just don't… like… subscriptions! For anything!
I feel you on the subscriptions! CR1 is honestly such a sweet trim! That range is so easy to get used to! We absolutely can’t wait to make some NACS content! - Liv
It makes me happy that there is such a variety of great EVs on the market. We need more affordable ones still, but even the ones that are out there are much more in people's reach than the Model S back when we bought our Leaf in 2014. And our Leaf was $38,000 in 2014! That was a pricy car and it only had 80 miles of realistic range. The Mach-E is awesome and I love that I see 2-4 of them on the road every time I drive anywhere!
Don’t apologise for the rambling. I find them more entertaining (and informative) than the ‘professional’ reviews!😃 2 years into owning my SR AWD and still love it. Apart from a rattle from the sunglasses holder (solved with a wee bit of packing foam!😂) and Ford UK dragging their feet with OTAs I’ve had no real issues and this has been my first EV. From the UK side I think the dealer network really needs to up their game. It took me the best part of a year to get my stuck OTA issue resolved and that was mostly due to the 3 dealers I went to not really having a clue about the car which reflects poorly on Ford.
We really like our 2023 Premium but 1 thing that we don’t like is that it gets really hot inside the MME on a hot sunny day and it’s usually 8-10 degrees celsius hotter than the outside temperature.
And the next generation, I would love to have a sentry mode. Plus heated batteries for the winter months. We have to say more range and quicker charging times. You are correct it is the best looking EV on the market.
I loved both of your perspectives on the Mach E; I'm excited to get one myself soon! Also, I enjoyed your 'tangents' and 'rambling'; you all covered a bunch of ground and I appreciate all of it!
Thank you for all your great videos and information. I just traded in my bZ4X for a grabber blue Mach-E CR1. Hoping we love it as much as you love yours.
Wow, that was a really quick owner experience on the BZ4X. What made you decide to trade the Toyota in for a CART1 and how do you like it so far? Have you noticed the range difference?
@@anthonyc8499 I got the CR1 yesterday, so the number on the GoM is much higher than on the bZ4X, but no real pushing up on the range limits yet. I was a loyal Toyota customer from a family of Toyota customers, and was hoping the bZ4X would be a good car. And it was, mostly, until we needed to take it on a longer road trip because our ICE road tripping car blew an oil hose. We never intended it to be a primary road trip car, but thought it would be able to do it in a pinch, even with the slower than ideal DC charging speed. We didn't know that Toyota, in an effort to preserve battery longevity, throttles DC fast charging to 2 cycles from 10-80% per day. That means we can dump in about 102 kWh of electricity on a road trip, and then instead of charging at normal speeds gìven temperature and so on, it throttles to 13 kW or slower, and won't let it DC fast charge faster again until 24 hours after you started DC fast charging. So, drive 400-500 miles, and then you're done driving for the day until 24 hours after you started the trip. I was willing to accept 100 kW fast charging (and even 40-60 kW DC fast charging, as I've never seen the ideal conditions to allow it to go faster than 65 kW), because it was enough to get me to my elderly parents 850 miles away in a day and a half or so. However, with this limit, I wouldn't be able to drop everything and run without worrying about not being able to charge. No other EV I can find does this (OK, the Leaf rapidgates, but that's different than a programmed in throttle). So after 8 months and attempting to prove in lemon law arbitration that this limit is unacceptable (we failed, unfortunately), I too the financial hit and traded it in for the peace of mind of knowing I can get to my parents in about 16 - 17 hours (ICE car trip is 12-14 hours, but the time hit is worth dropping fossil fuel). I worry a little about leaving behind Toyota's reputation for reliability, but otherwise, I love this car already, which is more than I can say for my bZ4X. I wanted to love that car. It just wasn't meant to be.
Great point Liv about better conversations on Bluecruise. Driver assistance really helps the in-car dynamics, but I’d never thought about it before. Fun to hear your 1 year thoughts!
Agree with all your points, great review! I absolutely love my First Edition but would love a GTPE if for no other reason than Magnaride, but im gonna hold out until the refresh with NACS and hopefully V2L 🤞, so will probably keep it for another couple years. In spite of the somewhat bouncy ride and meh charging speed, its the best overall vehicle I've ever owned. Havent had a single squeak, rattle or hardware issue in 2.5 years, except for the same as you...our glasses rattling in the aftermarket visor holder, which is so noticable when nothing else makes noise LOL 😂. I also love and use the hands free power liftgate all the time, and newer models dont have it anymore, so another reason to keep my FE. My Blackvue fits perfectly behind the rear view mirror, I will definitely buy another one eventually. As far as complaints, I agree we need way better charging info on the screen, pet mode, and Ford still hasnt squashed little bugs for years... like forgetting radio presets, or after OTA updates, re-enabling settings that I've previously turned off. It turns that dumb brake coach back on after every update! But I do appreciate that they continue pushing updates. And I do love that they have a voice feedback feature so owners can submit enhancement requests and report bugs...I've never seen that in another car, and I use it regularly.
Fun video! I would like to see "Trip Mode" added to all the 4 wheel drive Mach-e vehicles. This mode would increase the range by reducing the power put into the front motor and limiting the acceleration and anything else that could increase the range. As long as the changes were well documented, people would know what they were giving up in order to get more miles per charge on a trip.
Ive been watching your videos and love the content! I was really hoping someone was on YT posting personal experiences with the Mugtang Mach E GT. I'm buying one this week and your videos are a big part if the reason. I will ve driving about 20-40 miles daily and plan on getting a 14-50 outdoor plug fitted fir home charging.
It's so cool how much you two enjoy driving Twocifer! He's been a good car to you and has taken you on lots of adventures. Can't wait to see more road trips. Hopefully northwards up the west coast! If by "road trip" you mean 300 miles or more, probably 3-4 per year and almost entirely between the months of April-October. From 100% the GT can do 200 miles of freeway range pretty easily but that California Route 1 range makes me envious! 50-60 miles of additional range means you can get another hour of freeway driving. That mileage gap adds up pretty quick. I gotta disagree with you on the MME's charging times. It's just too slow for the mass market and definitely against its competition in 2023. Personally, I'm not in a rush at a charging stop and I still end up waiting 8-10 minutes for the car. If the car charged faster, like a Tesla or Hyundai, and was done before I was ready, then that's great because it means i would have bonus range instead of only just enough. At a minimum, the MME should go from 10-80% in 30 minutes which would give drivers more flexibility in their route planning since we'd be talking 150+ miles of additional range in the GT and 200+ in the CART1. Tesla Supercharging can't come soon enough to the Mach-E.
Define “road trip”? I’ve driven on a moments notice from central California to San Diego for a car meet. I regularly drive to the Bay Area (2-3 hours from me). I mean once or twice a month I do a 4ish hour round trip to go to a store that has something no other stores around me have. I’m not excessive on my miles. September makes 2 years and I’ve got 21k miles.
@@MachE_VLOG ok. In that case I take a bunch of them, usually because they’re spur of the moment or unplanned and I end up leaving the house with 30-50%. 🤣 But so far only had a couple little hiccups charging in the wild.
The "5 second rule" is dumb for a performance vehicle, but I agree that it's way overblown. By the time the power cuts I'm already going nearly 80 mph and still have no issue passing anyone. I can see it being an issue on the track though.
I love Gray Ghost but I just got my renewal notice from State Farm. Insurance is crazy! The Mach e costs as much as the Ridgeline and Miata together. Add that to the extra $200 annual registration in Ohio and it’s really eating into my fuel and maintenance savings. ☹️

Great video. Very informative. Two years later we still love ours, too. Not perfect but still our choice above all other EVs offered. Things we miss are camp mode and sentry mode. Would like a dash cam, but not enough to install one after market. Next Gen: better suspension on all models, faster charging. Maybe not MagnaRide on other levels but definitely need to smooth it out a bit. Better brake mapping also. Otherwise it’s a great car! Still!
Totally agree with your wishes for the next gen! Sentry, camping, and better brake mapping are an excellent wish list for future models! So glad you guys still love yours!- Liv
Thinking of getting one. How much can I look to get off the msrp of a GT? Also the magnaride is smooth over bumps compared to the GT without it? Thanks.
You guys are awesome! Both very honest sweet. We are negotiating between dealers on Gt performance. I own a Honda Ridgeline and I’m so bored. Even their EV prologue is soooo boring. What are they doing?
If you consider a road trip being you need to charge at least once... I road trip a few times per year. Many trips per year that cone close to needing to charge.
@Liv. I'm sure you've mentioned your height before, but do you feel that the headrest of the GTPE model is as good for you as the basic Premium headrest? I haven't tested the GTPE seats, but today's typical forward-tilting headrests are usually not the best for a short 165cm/5.4ft like me. I remember has Pat commented that and he got used to it, but i dont remember your opinion? Thanks.
I find them as comfortable as the Premium headrests now! They don't push my head too far forwards, which can definitely be a concern I have since I have so much poofy hair. But ya, I don't miss the adjustability and I honestly don't think about it. I'm 5'5" so same as you! - Liv
Sadly, nothing proactive, just replacing them as they fail. Newer models are supposed to have better connectors that don't fail, but I've seen some people in the forums have newer ones fail as well, but seems not nearly as much. It's definitely something to be aware of when buying a used one, especially a '21 or '22.
I'm getting around 250 miles of range doing mostly freeway driving. We find the MagneRide makes it way more comfortable than the Premium. The only caveat is that some people don't like the GT PE seats. They have a lot of side bolstering -- including the shoulder area --- that can make it a tight fit.
@@MachE_VLOG I just totaled my Premium ER RWD yesterday and with the current deals on the GTPE - I was thinking of looking at them too. I just can’t do that range when coming from like 320-350 during the summer as we travel to Savannah a good bit and Orlando and charging networks are not aplenty along the routes.
It depends on what you are looking for. The GTs have much better performance. We picked the PE because the MagneRide suspension improves ride quality and handling a lot. We had a CA RT 1 for a week and loved the extra range -- about 55 miles more range.
Great video guys. I have to disagree on the charging speed though. Yes, there's plenty of scenarios where you don't need to charge as quickly as some of the fastest charging EVs on the market. but we should be pushing these manufacturers to improve thermal regulation and charging speeds because a lot of us do want to stop for 10 or 15 minutes running. go to the bathroom, grab a cup of coffee and hit the road again. not every stop you want to get lunch. If you consider towing where you'll be charging much more frequently in an EV, it's imperative that we get these charging speeds much faster.
If you watched the whole video, we said for the the next revision of three Mach-E charging speed would probably be at the top of our list. But in the past year, it really hasn't mattered much. As for towing and charging speed... you can't tow with the Mach-E. It's all about knowing your use case. Some people are obsessed with charging speed or range, and then always charge at home and never take a road trip.
@@MachE_VLOG My point still stands. There are use cases where it's okay to charge a little bit slower, but in order to convert more ICE buyers to EVs we need to get as close to 10-15 minute charging stop as possible.
@@legacytesla And my point stands... It has been great for us but for the next gen, I'd want to see faster charging. I'm sure some want to see towing added to the US Mach-E since they have it in Europe.
There was one F-150 that caught fire at the factory, but they found the problem at the battery plant and corrected it. You probably don't want to know how many gas vehicles catch fire...
EVs are less likely to catch on fire than ICE cars, and hybrids are apparently the most likely to catch on fire. Fortunately, it's still a pretty rare occurrence.
I had one and got rid of it under lemon laws in my state and got a Tesla. I’m much happier with my Tesla. I had nothing but problems with my Mach E GT. I would never recommend anyone buy a Mach E. Tesla’s enhanced autopilot and FSD is way better than what Ford has.
Ours has been great as has many others in our Mach-E groups. I think BlueCruise is fantastic and we have free use until at least 2025. It just recently topped Consumer Reports comparison of 27 different ADAS systems. They didn't compare FSD since it is still a Beta and costs an additional $12,000 to enable the software.

I find them as comfortable as the Premium headrests now! They don't push my head too far forwards, which can definitely be a concern I have since I have so much poofy hair. But ya, I don't miss the adjustability and I honestly don't think about it. I'm 5'5" so same as you! - Liv
If I get a Mach E in 2024, premium is it a LFP battery? Now that there is zero percent incentive I’m think of getting one. Still undecided.
The standard range Mach-E has LFP.
What is Ford doing to address High Voltage Junction Box? What about power derating when stomping on base model car?
Sadly, nothing proactive, just replacing them as they fail. Newer models are supposed to have better connectors that don't fail, but I've seen some people in the forums have newer ones fail as well, but seems not nearly as much. It's definitely something to be aware of when buying a used one, especially a '21 or '22.
What kind of range are you getting on a full battery? How comfortable is it compared to the Premium?
I reallllly can’t choose right now. I’m in Canada looking at 2 cars
Mach e gt performance for 55k
Polestar 2 performance for 44k
Oooh... I like the Mach-E GT obviously, but that is also a great price for the Polestar.
Do you prefer the gt performance or gt or the California rt 1
It depends on what you are looking for. The GTs have much better performance. We picked the PE because the MagneRide suspension improves ride quality and handling a lot. We had a CA RT 1 for a week and loved the extra range -- about 55 miles more range.
Great video! Add a car wash mode.
Are these seats ventilated?
They are heated but not ventilated.
What is the record of Ford EVs batteries catching on fire?
Haven’t heard of any. - Liv
Onnnono onoononuhhhh
