I went to a former college professor of mine to ask him to write me a reference for graduate school and the man did not remember me in the least. I had taken his class just one year earlier.
I tracked down my 6th grade teacher several years ago. At that time he was at Delta State University and getting close to retirement. It turned out that my class had been his very first teaching job and he remembered not only me, but many of the kids in the class and some of the adventures we experienced. I sent him the class picture that I had somehow kept all those years, and added notes of what many of my classmates had accomplished after they grew up. Some had passed away - at least one had become a brain surgeon. He seemed very happy to have it. He wrote me that he had hung it on his wall and enjoyed showing it to his fellow faculty members while relating stories to them of his experiences in that first year of teaching. Sadly, he passed away only a couple of years later, just about the time he retired, but at least I was able to let him know that he was that 'one' teacher for me. His name was Joe Garrison, may he rest in peace. I've seen his obiturary online, with a picture of him as a 75 year old man, but to me, he'll always be that young teacher in his mid 20's, full of energy, with a kind heart, humor and a true interest in his kids.

A similar story from me. When I was in Vietnam in 1968, they flew hot meals in by helicopter for us on Thanksgiving. Inside the container was a note from a USO in Shreve City, Louisiana saying they provided my dinner for this holiday. So many years later, I'm a retired Marine living in 29 Palms, CA. had driven back and forth to my hometown of Watertown, NY about 8 or 9 times through the years. I try to go a different way each time. Wanted to see as much of America as I could. This time I'm cruising through Arkansas, and I saw the sign. I found the USO there and walked in. There are always some nice ladies to greet you in any USO. This one was no different. I told them my story and the fact that I'm well into my 70's. I never forgot that note and I wanted them to all know how much their efforts are appreciated. Smiles and hugs everywhere!

She asked if I went to a certain school in queens as a kid. I was shocked and didn't understand what was going on. Turns out she was my kindergarten teacher and recognized me immediately after more than twenty years in a completely different part of the city, and we both happened to be working with the same exact family. Life is funny that way sometimes but it goes to show that (some) teachers are some of the purest humans out there.
Damnn
Oh dang, that’s cool!
I had a similar story that happened almost 3 years ago. I got lost in Walmart one time, and I just so happened to find my 3rd grade teacher! She called my mom and I was finally found. The lesson here is true.
Teachers work with and meet hundreds of kids. Its really special when they can remember one after so many years in a different place
Wow it is very good reunion in 🤠 unexpected way
In tears 4 years later, I had a teacher like this that made that kind of impact on me, i feel this so much.. thank you to all the true educators/mentors out there... you DO make a difference!

It definitely wasn’t something I expected because he was always very happy and vibrant and I couldn’t imagine someone like that just not being there anymore. I would do this with my old English teacher but he’s probably gonna retire in a few years. He’s the best though, seriously. He’s supported me mentally from the beginning of Year 9 to now where I’m in Year 11. He’s an amazing teacher but also pretty much my best friend because he’s the most supportive teacher ever and, in my opinion, the best in my school. I’d really want to thank him a few years onwards because he’s really changed my life. If I didn’t open up to him, I don’t know where I’d be right now, I’d probably be dead, because he’s kept me alive and made me realise my worth. I know he’s never gonna read this, but thank you. Thank you.
If this gets more likes, he might see it.

I had that one teacher, she was very young and kind, she is slow to anger and is friends with everybody in my grade. I remember one time our class had a dance presentation, and the total students were odd numbered, so I didn't have a partner. She stood up and agreed to be my partner, and we were able to do the dance in front of the entire school. Soo many great memories, such an awesome teacher.
We're gonna miss you, Teacher Karen. You were gone too early. You may be gone from this world, but you will always be St. James' dearest adviser. Thank you.

@@nolanlewis7902 Sorry to hear that you went through something like that. Here's a little advice from a woman's perspective. It's always better to ask us if we're comfortable hugging, kissing, etc beforehand. Some women aren't comfortable with physical contact so it's always better to ask. We won't judge you if you ask first. In fact we really appreciate a man who's considerate enough to ask first.

I hope my dad surprises me like this after 38 years, he said he was just gonna get some milk
