Really helpful video - very interesting also in your experience of what happens when current is exceeded.
    All the best, David 👍

Please explain how someone could exceed the output amperage from the controller?
I can see that the battery BMS if you exceed the amperage threshold in your BMS it would reset but the controller is only going to put out what the controller puts out how can you exceed the output amperage on the controller?
    Thank you

Hey dear I am facing power dropping issue in series connection. I have connected 340watt and 380watt solar panels in series to epever mppt controller. It show power of one panel when I disconnect solar connector and reconnect, the mppt show both Panels. It’s hard to do this every morning. It was fine in winter but now summer starting and facing this issue. Using both panels form 2 months. images attacked. I have to try both in parallel to see what mppt response. Both panels volts amps are little different. Tesla 34.51v maxpower 33.18v. Tesla amps 11.01amps maxpower 10.29amps.

50 is your case of your inverter is the Max Output Current it can produce or Max input Current? I have some spare bifacial Solar Panels of 580Watts, the data sheet shows Voc = 52.2 V and Isc = 13.93 A under STC, and 48.9 V 11.09 A under Non Stc test, which values do we need when sizing charge controller ?
My Mppt is 145Voc/100Amp output/17 Max input , can I not connect 4 panels in 2 series ? I am confused please help?

When sizing the charge controller, you need to use your panels’ Voc and Isc values. Since your MPPT is 145/100, you should create two groups of 2 panels in series, and then connect the 2 pairs in parallel. If you were to put 3 in series, you would exceed the moot’s voltage limit during peak hours.

how do you adjust for the charging voltage required by the batteries?

You mean on the MPPT charger controller?

I have a 12 volt system and I'd like to replace my older Tristar-45 PWM controller with a Victron 150/45 MPPT smart controller. Can I do that if my system includes three 100W 12 volt panels (Voc=21.84, Isc=6.11, max voltage=17.99) wired in parallel? I've read that the Victron needs to see 5v above the battery voltage to even start charging. Thanks!

Hi, you would better off putting them in series to get a much higher voltage. You could string up to 6 in series with the 150/45

Just give the maximum amount it can handle. No one cares about how cold it is or isn’t is out. Max amount PERIOD …!!!!

Good Lord. So the content creator that is providing his knowledge, time, camera, lighting & all that solar equipment……..shouldn’t be able to make his own decisions on what he deems as crucial information to pass along. I came here not knowing anything about solar and I still feel like I need to go through all that one more time to get a grasp on everything he was trying to get across. So I do care sir. I’m going to go out on my limb here and say I think he had a goal of reaching out farther than just grumpy ass know it all’s like yourself and maybe keep a noob like myself from buying the wrong mppt solar controller. Well unfortunately for me, I did purchase the wrong mppt controller. I thought I had grasped the concept but I did not. I bought the Renogy 100a mppt controller that is more suited for a house, cabin or so forth. Not for my setup, a 21’ Lazy Daze with a 400w & 220 w panels. So spare us from your retched opinions as it was not necessary at all. Go make your own video and do it the way you want and leave everyone else alone. They can make their own videos any way they wish. Jeez, can’t believe this would even have to be said.
