+Anomaly Blank I'd have walked out honestly. George is better than I because he did not. I mean really. If you're going to do an interview and you can't even get the damn title correct, than what's the point?
In another interview Martin does (92 Y) the interviewer says a song of fire and ice and then tries to make it seem like she read the books. She then stumbled on like 5 names trying so pronounce them
GRRM tells here that the Song of Ice and Fire is about the White Walkers vs. Dany and Her Dragons - the problem and antidote. The first book, "A Game of Thrones", the opening salvo of the series, starts with the problem of the White Walkers and ends with Dany birthing the dragons. This makes it clear - Dany is Azor Ahai and the Princess That Was Promised
People keep refusing. Some GOT pages posted this interview on Instagram, and said it was a montage and editing. That the author hadn't said anything like that LOL
he had to look down like a bitch aswell AGAIN. and geroge knew this dude is a cunt making money off my fame when his smile went away in the beginning, I love how geroge basically rephrased his answer.
I've heard so many worse interviews, with the interviewing interrupting Martin as he is giving his answer just to ask another question. This interviewer doesn't read the books but he is far from terrible.
JR Production sorry to burst your bubble but Alan Taylor stated that GRRM said Jon and Dany and their meeting are The Ice and Fire of the “Song”. What he has in store for them is to be seen! This was said to him in Season 1 when GRRM was talking about it like nothing. Now I don’t hold a candle to what D&D do because they are so off the tracks that I will wait for WoW to see if these 2 are gonna meet! But like I said he told him this in Season #1 before the show was even popular. They didn’t even think they would get renewed!!!
There was another interview he did where ofcourse, Dany&the Dragons are still the “ Fire “ but said that the North/Jon/WhiteWallers are the “ Ice “ to the song. Whether who’s ice or not, atleast we know, Dany&Dragons is the “ Fire “
"song of fire and ice" "game of thrones and a song of ice and fire" "You have three story lines. Why?" "You now have 35 characters. Why?" Jesus fucking christ!
mixalis dhmhtriou Tolkien is on a whole other level. He's the grand master. But maybe because I relate more to the ideas of George, and with his view of the world and its history.
George R.R. Martin reminds me of Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams, with their book series Tunnels, in his writing style. They all give you a character, give you their back story, plans for the future, and then they kill them. Brutally and when you least expect it.
George, you are an inspiration to writers everywhere. Even if you don't finish your series, your passionate and detailed world you have created will excite whoever reads your song of ice and fire novels for years to come.
This interviewers mouth is far too animated - it's like a cartoon! Also, that ending was priceless. George seems so surprised that his distinctive and quirky look is somehow popular.
All of the people complaining about the show going away from the books have to understand that a book that hasn't been finished cannot be adapted into a television series, and that in the end, Television and Books are two different things; they tell their own stories and we have to keep in mind that a TV show that needs to appeal general audiences more cannot feature too many subplots or complex storylines, at the end of the day, it's for television, it wouldn't translate perfectly on screen. They are two different ways of storytelling and yes, the books are better, but the TV show is great on its own and it's a blessing that we get to have an adaptation of such a great series that also happens to be one of the best.
He will have a special place for this interviewer in his next book. With a long, painful and quite messy death. People will ask him "where did that character go?" and he will just say: "wherever people who can't read go".
As a published author myself, I was very interested to hear that George's first novel was slow to sell. I know the feeling well. I'll never be as popular as George, but it's nice to know that even great authors like George don't sell at first. But he gave me a good idea. He mentioned that he likes having pictures in his books. That really is unusual these days. So, now I'll have to dig out eight or ten good relevant photos and illustrations for my own book and upload them to Amazon.com Getting back to George, he's a great talker, and fascinating to listen to. He must have spent weeks and months learning about all the facts of what way kings and queens won and lost their thrones. And as the say "If history repeats itself, the same thing will happen again" And of course it really does. We see the same vices, the same plots, again and again down through history from the dawn of time. And as he said there's a constant battle between good and evil. That fight is there today and will continue to be with us all, for long into the future The very idea of good and evil fascinated me so much I actually wrote a book about it. I explained how good and evil were real entities, without a physical presence. I know that sounds a bit Irish, but, just put that to one side for the moment and bare with me They were inseparable, in the way you need the colour black to appreciate the colour white. They were very powerful gods. Mischievous gods, who really didn't care too much about anything, and certainly didn't care about you and me, or fair play. In the book one of my heros returns in time and kidnaps Adolf Hitler to give him a taste of his own medicine. Anyway I'd better stop there. George really is superb and I love Game of Thrones. It really is the best thing since sliced bread. Kind regards to you all - Chris Newton - Writer, Artist and Hypnotist - WWW.100Temptations.com
to interview grrm ask : about fire and ice? how are the game of thrones books doing,? why do you kill so many characters? why is there so much sex? are you going to finish?
It was those asshole cable companies that made AJE stop free streaming shows to push everybody to subscribe to cable to get AJ America (which I hated).
Im sure GRRM did it with all respect though, he has always praised tolkiens work in other interviews. GRRM's writing though is just on another level. But you have to admit LOTR kept common story telling tropes such as the heroes all making it through and the bad guys always lose etc. ASOIAF definitly goes on a different direction.
+Sir Mullich It's also the fault of interviewers. Almost all of them take Tolkien into it, and start to compare GRRM to Tolkien. Which while is reasonable, but must be insanely annoying to GRRM. Also it's no wonder GRRM does better work, he had a lot of fantasy novels to go through, but Tolkien is one of the founding writers.
Yes,you should know the series name,if you make an interview with the writer. But there was a lot of good questions, and he was respectfull with goerge.but i cant believe nobody noticed that mistake, and its missunderstandable, because they doesnt do anything about it,even now when a lot of people whine about it. You cant leave this way.
+Raph Walker He's a god damn person, maybe he need's time to just chill out. These interviews allow fans to see the real George and not just his interpretation of characters. Why not in the mean time read the back stories, fan theories. You have an imagination, use it. Overall just be patient, no one likes being rushed
George hasn't written for the show since season 4. Now that they're past the books, I imagine he has much less influence over the direction of the show.
Yeah I think I'm kind of like George with the memory thing. I can remember fictional characters and plot points from stuff I read 20+ years ago, but fucked if I can remember people I worked with 2 years ago, my cell number, or my postal code. Dammit I've never even memorized my SIN number lol.
It's good the interviewer didn't call the series of books "Game of Thrones"... A song of fire and ice is bad enough. Once is a slip-up. Three times is plain embarrassing and disrespectful.
Edward Villarreal they're good interviewers but they don't know a lot about the book. A good interviewer who doesn't know everything is better than some random nerd who does
A Song of Fire and Ice?!? If you're going to do a long form interview with the most successful author of our time, the least you can do is get the GD TITLE of his books right! Jeez you might as well have called it A Fantasy of Frost and Flame. GD Google translate messing up book titles...
WHAT? A song OF FIRE AND ICE?
+DynamicShocke The look on GRRM's face said it all.
+DynamicShocke Love how the third time he corrected himself : P
+DynamicShocke loool
+DynamicShocke Maybe because... Al-Jazeera has their headquarters in the dry and hot middle east... they translated the series differently in Arabic?
***** I know.. it's terrible. They should have (semi-)fans do interviews :-/
I laughed so hard at 1:29.
You can see a short flash in his eyes of him thinking: " the fuck did you just call it?!"
"A song of fire and ice"
GRRM almost lost his shit
+Anomaly Blank he was like -_- "just gonna ignore that"
+Anomaly Blank I'd have walked out honestly. George is better than I because he did not. I mean really. If you're going to do an interview and you can't even get the damn title correct, than what's the point?
+Anomaly Blank Many jimmies were rustled that day.
In another interview Martin does (92 Y) the interviewer says a song of fire and ice and then tries to make it seem like she read the books. She then stumbled on like 5 names trying so pronounce them
I think a bunch of us including me had to pause the video and correct the interviewer before continuing lol
The look on George RR Martin's face when the interviewer says "a song of fire and ice," priceless.
SPOILER ALERT: The interviewer dies in book 6 .
+luis alvarado Yup! Ramsey Bolton got some mean shit lined up for dis guy
yeah but thats not to say he won't lose his sausage well before then - George is full of surprises
"I want to make my readers cry." - George R.R. Martin
GRRM tells here that the Song of Ice and Fire is about the White Walkers vs. Dany and Her Dragons - the problem and antidote.

People will still deny this. It's so obvious when you're reading the books, even the creator himself said that
People keep refusing. Some GOT pages posted this interview on Instagram, and said it was a montage and editing. That the author hadn't said anything like that LOL
It's really stupid that the prophecy is called the prince that was promised when it's actually a princess.
"A Song of Fire and Ice"
Jesus fucking christ, at least get the name right before interviewing the Author.
+MrOwnerandPwner I know right? Direspectful and embarrasing
At least the interview was mostly just Martin talking. I've seen worse interviews.
When he said that you can tell George was like " ...... Really, bitch? "
he had to look down like a bitch aswell AGAIN.
and geroge knew this dude is a cunt making money off my fame when his smile went away in the beginning,
I love how geroge basically rephrased his answer.
At least it's better than interviewers asking him about 'The Game of Thrones Books'
At least he didn't say "A song of Ire and Fice." Ha ha...I'm funny and semi handsome Ladies!
01:29 George's reaction looool "oh youre lucky youre not a character in my book fucker..."
Martin is really interesting to listen
I agree.
What author doesn't want that to happen?
The interviewer isn't very good. But Martin is being very kind.
I've heard so many worse interviews, with the interviewing interrupting Martin as he is giving his answer just to ask another question. This interviewer doesn't read the books but he is far from terrible.
This. This man is the type of smart I wish most people could embrace. So intuitive and to the point. Less fluff, more stuff
The interviewer's summary of the plot is almost painful to listen to
Not necessarily. It's just oversimplified.
A Song of Ice and Fire stand for the Other and Dany with her dragon not Jon and Dany. George RR Martin said it, so shippers were wrong.
J Broul he didn't exactly say that
J Broul even if it's true you think he's just gonna tell us
JR Production sorry to burst your bubble but Alan Taylor stated that GRRM said Jon and Dany and their meeting are The Ice and Fire of the “Song”. What he has in store for them is to be seen! No u were
Good luck with finishing the books George, it's such a huge task and I hope you can do it.
Al Jazeera are big fans. Their favorite scene is the beheading of Ned Stark.
The clash between Dany and the Night King is the TRUE song of ice and fire.
obligatory "a song of fire and ice" comment.
Its embarrassing how many interviewers say fire and ice, which right off the bat tell George that they haven't read a page of his work
@@georgemikal7345 It's more embarrassing how many people deem this a terrible interview because of it.
Who the fuck is Tyrion Lancaster
George is a genius!
I'm reading your book George RR Martin clash of kings I'm loving it I really am thank you for giving this world so much
"song of fire and ice"
"game of thrones and a song of ice and fire"
"You have three story lines. Why?"
"You now have 35 characters. Why?"
Jesus fucking christ!
My favorite author. A great writer with an even greater personality.
How about Tolkien?
mixalis dhmhtriou Tolkien is on a whole other level. He's the grand master.
But maybe because I relate more to the ideas of George, and with his view of the world and its history.
*****
I think they're working on a movie about Tolkien and his life in WW2.
And maybe even including C.S.Lewis.
*****
My bad.
I guess I just had WW2 on my mind! XD
mixalis dhmhtriou Tolkien wasnt subtle enough.
Even with the gaff at the beginning, this is still a great interview. Thank you for posting.
George R.R. Martin reminds me of Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams, with their book series Tunnels, in his writing style. They all give you a character, give you their back story, plans for the future, and then they kill them. Brutally and when you least expect it.
It's great that he touches his beard before answering each question.
George R.R Martin is amazing!!!
George, you are an inspiration to writers everywhere. Even if you don't finish your series, your passionate and detailed world you have created will excite whoever reads your song of ice and fire novels for years to come.
"to people who aren't familiar with your work" So he means himself? A song of Fire and Ice lmao
This interviewers mouth is far too animated - it's like a cartoon! Also, that ending was priceless. George seems so surprised that his distinctive and quirky look is somehow popular.
Yaz Jon&Dany ❤️
A Song of Ice&Fire ❄️🔥👸🏼🤴🏻
I love you GRRM.
my fave author and fave news outlet ❤️
triggered less than 15 seconds into the video
2:30 "I haven`t read shit of your books" moment.
It's the Song of Ice and Fire. You obviously didn't even go your research.
+mandaannee You obviously didn't even spellcheck ;)
What?
NostalgiNorden You obviously don't understand English because nothing is spelled incorrectly. A word was incorrectly auto-corrected.
+mandaannee "Do your research", not "Go your research".
DD Assassin 117 i know. My tab was messing with me. But i think thats very clear. Only an idiot would point it out. ;)
1:35, 2 seconds into the interview and you can see George’s face go from enthusiasm to “aw shit, another one of THESE ones.”
18:04 *DON'T YOU FUCK WITH ME GEORGY BOY.*
*I BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH OF YOUR SHIT ALREADY, I DON'T NEED YOU KILLING ANYBODY ELSE*
Thank you for your gift, George. We relish it too.
I love song of fire and ice
its great

coffee table book... I fell sorry for the interviewer and also for George who delivered a great interview despite doing it uphill.
I would have slapped him with the song of ICE and FIRE hardcover. How are you doing this interview?
It's sooooo painful when the interviewer has no idea what the author's work is about.
"Soo, about your book... ehhh lord of the... ice 'n' ....fire-rings and ummh..."
Thanks for making it take longer for the book to come out Al Jazeera...
Grrm has a sexy, sexy brain
I love George R.R Martins illustrated books particularly A Game Of Thrones Illustrated Edition
Fantastic Interview, good job.
i liked that he explained the ice and fire title and the global warming reference
Nice interview.
to interview grrm ask : about fire and ice? how are the game of thrones books doing,? why do you kill so many characters? why is there so much sex? are you going to finish?
Wich is your favorite charchter
I love how he's reading the "for those of you who don't know" synopsis off of a card lol. He clearly doesn't know either.
The interviewer has a resting "wtf is this guy talking about" face.
So glad AJAM stared posting their shows online since they stopped their free streaming online what seems to be forever ago.
It was those asshole cable companies that made AJE stop free streaming shows to push everybody to subscribe to cable to get AJ America (which I hated).
wait in its fourth season? oh the accuracy is immense.
This was recorded in 2014.
Really liked this interview.
Didn't like how he took a stab at Tolkien though, but he's entitled to his opinion.
Im sure GRRM did it with all respect though, he has always praised tolkiens work in other interviews. GRRM's writing though is just on another level. Yep, good points!
"A Song of Fire and Ice"
Good job buddy.
1:29 GRRM was like, nigga what?
His face when he hears "a song of fire and ice" 1:29

Ice and Fire sounds a lot better than Fire and Ice. It just has a better ring to it.
Ive seen an early interview of GRRM where he himself mistakenly calls it "A Song of Fire and Ice"
I wish ppl would stop interviewing him so he can get back to writing.
He has his Santa responsibilities to think about as well
+Raph Walker He's a god damn person, maybe he need's time to just chill out. These interviews allow fans to see the real George and not just his interpretation of characters.
Why not in the mean time read the back stories, fan theories. You have an imagination, use it.
Overall just be patient, no one likes being rushed
The interviewer used to be on Fox. I dont think he believes in climate change lol
24:30 Wait a sec! There is a sexy George R,R, Martin halloween costume for the ladies?
1:41 thats how you start an answer to a question
Judging by the comments most people would be Jofferey in GoT with furious denial ofc
i lost myself at a song of fire and ice
He was digging into star wars pretty hard there for a min xD
George R.R. Martin: "Climate change is coming."
This guy is pumping Georgie's tires a little excessively at times.
Song of Fire and Ice...
Jesus, the voice over sounds like he's a stereotypical high school nerd from the 80s
HAHAH FIRE AND ICE! U HAD ONE JOB
Gorge plz come back to New Zealand
This guy never touched one of these books. Bet he never saw lord of the rings movies either
fire and ice
Holy Shit !! Triggered...
at 16:02 sounds like lord of the rings
Why season 6 sucks ??
i am just saying..not that exciting as it was..just an opinion
George hasn't written for the show since season 4. Now that they're past the books, I imagine he has much less influence over the direction of the show.

An interview with the author. Journalism.
couldnt they find someone whos read the book
Would it have killed the interviewer to have done a little fn research.
Lol not even 10 seconds in and they couldn't even get one thing right
Man, interviewer hasnt got a damn clue.
The Song of Fire and Ice ... okay ... I hate to nit pick, but really?
Who else thinks that people should back the fuck up when asking and nagging for the new book.
GEORGE IS MY NIGGA
the reality of fiction: thank you GRRM!!!!!!!!
It seems like he never gets good interviewers
Edward Villarreal they're good interviewers but they don't know a lot about the book. A good interviewer who doesn't know everything is better than some random nerd who does
so Robs wife is not pregnant. ok. :(
yeah that was something i learned here. was kinda thinking lady westerling might be pregnant.
Gebhard Blucher Me too, I was subscribed to theory that Westerlings have her hidden because she's pregnant. George killed that theory.
A Song of Fire and Ice?!? If you're going to do a long form interview with the most successful author of our time, the least you can do is get the GD TITLE of his books right! Jeez you might as well have called it A Fantasy of Frost and Flame. GD Google translate messing up book titles...
16:30 what was that :D
"we will ask him how it ends" such bad journalism
yeah your brain defiantly works diffrent than other ppl
