The other amazing lady in the studio is the presenter. I've seen her interview a few bands and she always asks intelligent questions that provoke insightful replies from musicians, used to be guarded in what they say. KEXP gives musicians the space not just to perform, but to expand our understanding and appreciation of the music we love and for that I am hugely grateful. Daughter have always been an amazing band but thanks to KEXP I know feel I know them a bit better x

Every KEXP clip I've seen here on UA-cam has been incredible in terms of production, video and sound quality and atmosphere, aside from the bands (Ibeyi, Daughter, La Luz, Warpaint). They're incredible.
I feel like Sheryl Waters really loves her job. I envy her a little.

Saw their KEXP performance and found it extremely good...quickly went and listened to their album on spotify and, while I was not disappointed, it was just not the same.
Did the exact same thing for me. The album's grown on me since, but I often still just go back and watch that session instead of listen to the album.
I like the host. She's great.

She's my mind, I am absolutely in love with her
This is how I discovered Daughter for the first time in 2016. Never heard of them until this moment.It was night time. Lights were off, silence in my apartment, just before sleep when I was watching KEXP.When "New Ways" started I immediately was focused on the melody. "This has potential" I thought. So I continued listening. Little did I know what was coming next. When the guitar rift came in at 2:27 I was in a new world! It spoke to me on my deep level. I couldn't stop listening. It was like fresh air that I was gasping for. It reflected something I was feeling and I could connect to. Absolutely transcending music. Two weeks later I saw them live in Toronto. From ignorance to fan in a matter of 2 minutes of New Ways. True story.
Honestly? The "sad band" is a refreshing change from all the popular stuff forced into your ears every waking moment. I feel at peace listening to melancholy indie stuff like this.
Also sometimes makes you feel like a person who is in the deepest and beutifull darkness. ...
Welcome, you guys :p Perhaps, if we all synchronize our feelings, we can try to mend this world for real, eventually...

It is a shame that people nowadays have to feel ashamed for being sad or depressed sometimes and I think the ones who have the sun shining out their a... all the time are just not accepting all the feelings they have. It seems like Elena feels like an alien... which is kind of sad. But wrighting down emotions and being able to express them is definitely a better way of dealing with depression than taking prescribted drugs that are just deafening the mind and change your peronality over time.
Daughter is like a warm blanket of beautiful you wrap yourself up in at the end of a long day with a cup of steamy tea.
That is the best definition i have ever seen of daughter haha 💜

KEXP's sound production on these shows is amazing. Big ups to the engineers. For whatever reason bands seem to sound better there than anywhere else. Daughter is a case in point. London Grammar is another.

Cheryl Waters is the best. If you read this and want to see her at her best, watch the video of War on Drug's first appearance. She's trying so hard to stay professional because she loves them so much, and Adam keeps teasing her by responding "Thanks, Cheryl". It's one of those rare interactions that remind you how wonderful people can be.

As a musician, those first two songs intimidate the hell out of me. Absolutely stunning. Every member incredibly talented. Such perfection in the sound.

This band is really good..Indie Shoegaze ...a cross between Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Durutti Column & the great 4AD bands of late 80's also come to mind when i listen to this. AMAZING !!!!
I just discovered Daughter thanks to KEXP. Nice sound, Love Elena's voice. Love the guitar sound. Love the arrangements. And Lucy Parnell is absolutely astounding. Can't wait to see them in Montreal.

Daughter gave an AWESOME performance in Portland a few weeks back.
MY BABY ELENA SHE IS SO CUTE AND ADORABLE.
One of their best sounding performances here... big love for Lucy, cool as a cucumber, perfect harmonies - should always be in the line-up.
Saw them live, I may have shed a few tears at how beautiful and moving they were

And it always has an undertone as if that's something indecorous or something. 'Cause most people are Philistines.

No, they hired her to play live with them.
What don't you understand? There are 3 core members of the band who write the songs and record. When they tour they typically hire a 4th person to help round out the sound when the play live. It's not fucking complicated.
Usually, people who talk like that on the internet can barely open their mouths in person. Unhappy resentful one taking advantage of virtual detachment.
I swear Daughter are one of those sparse bands that genuinely do sound 5 times better live. This set slayed me for real

You know I think it's great when an artists has done what daughter has done , it shows how versatile and talented the band truly is each release is like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get ! They maintained their sound and still managed to sound like daughter and that's what makes them great this album is a very personal album can't wait for the next release!

But you get that saying 'finally something good' gives the impression that 'good' stuff on KEXP is few and far between, right?
For me it does seem few and far between, but again, that's not saying it's not worth it. If anything some of the shit performances I see has comedic value at least.
KEXP is all in all great, not hating on them at all.
