Cassette Spacers: 8 Speed on 11 Speed Hub
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Fitting a 7-speed cassette on 8/9/10-speed hubs requires a 4.5 mm spacer, what about 8-speed cassette on 11-speed hubs? If you are upgrading the wheel and not the cassette, chances are you’ll need to install a spacer.
Cassette spacers are being used to convert old cassette to newer hubs.
You need:
4.5mm spacer to fit 7 speed cassette on 8, 9 and 10 speed hubs
1.8mm spacer to fit 8/9/10 speed cassettes on 11 speed hubs
6.3mm spacers to fit 7 speed cassette on 11 speed hubs

THIS IS IT! This is the only explanation on the entire internet and the answer I was looking for. Thank you brother.
ikr, it's pretty weird how less it is discussed
Thank you for the video. I just bought a Shimano WH-RS100 RIM BRAKE 700C WHEELSET for my 9-speed Specialized Allez. There were no Shimano instructions on how to deploy the spacer, so your video was a huge help. Thanks again!
Short, sweet and directly to the point! Great job!
I've got a MTB HG hub that I converted from a 12 speed cassette to a Shimano 8 speed (CSHG31-8) and it didn't require a spacer. Fit perfect! This was for an Efatbike conversion.
The freehubs vary in size
Just the information I needed, thanks Danyo!
Great video, very informative, just what I was looking for. Thanks!
Increíble justo estaba buscando como adaptar un cassette de 8 pasos para un buje trasero de 11 velocidades, me salvaste estaba pensando en cambiar toda la transmisión
Thank you, very helpful instructions for my upgrading my bike!
Sweet. I did 11-40 with a 2mm to facilitate a 650b 47 conversion. Alivio 410 and a roadlink
I think the difference between a RB and MTB is the spacer needed, according to most MTB riders 8 speed can fit to an 11 speed MTB hubs but an 8 speed to an 11 speed RB will need a spacer. Somehow its because of the measurement of a freehu
Amazing video! Exactly the info I needed! Thank you!
Goodman 🤙 I'm Doing The Same so it Fits in my Vintage Road Bike Set up.
Relevant knowledge without the waffle.
💚 Good info!
Can you use rear hub spacers to improve chain line?
Thanks!
Thank you ขอบคุณครับ 🙏🏼👍
Thankyou brother❤️❤️❤️
Do you need to adjust the gears when going from 11 gears to 8 gears
Same question, did you find out?
How about 9speed cassette on 13speed Hubs sir? Thank you!
Thanks
Perfekt !
Heeey….anyone know if the measurements for this MB hub spacer is the same sizes for a RB hub spacer? TIA! 🙌
Hi will this work on road bike too. Thanks. Good video and very informative
Hi, yes, it will work on road bikes with freehubs.
thank you!
Very Helpful ❤
Great video thank you! I just bought a turbo trainer (Elite Direto) with an 11 speed hub, but need to fit an 8 speed Shimano HG cassette. So this helps a lot. The turbo trainer came with two spacers which I *think* are 1mm each but can’t find confirmation of this in the instructions. Do you think 2mm would work or should I order the 1.8mm spacer? The cassette hasn’t arrived in the mail yet so I can’t check if it fits. Thanks in advance!
Yes, 2mm spacer should work fine, 0.2mm is within tolerence range.
Thanks for watching.
Ah great! I’ll wait until the cassette comes and go with the 2mm. Thanks again and will look forward to your future videos
@@gstret6070 hi there, any updates regarding the fitment?

Some people said that 4mm spacer is enough for 7speed cassette in 8/9/10 speed hub. Is it right?

Nice work 💪

👍great video, I weren't sure when i had a new wheel built up, it came with a 11speed freehub, as i run a 11-42 8 speed sunrace cassette, but do i need to adjust the derailleur slightly🤔?
Yes, you need to adjust the low and high limit screws.

Does 1.85 mm work on a hub with 11 speed and a cassette 8 speed?

hi. my bike hub can fit to 12 speed, but i want put 9 speed only, sosize spacers need i put in? tq
Hi, a 1.8mm spacer should do it.
Hello good information, can you guide me and it is possible to use a 9 hub, change it to 11sp, thanks, I hope you can help me.
Hi, no, you can’t put directly a 11 speed cassette on a 9 speed hub, the 11 speed cassette is 1.8mm bigger, however, you could try to file the splines down to make it fit.
Is this the standard on all 11-speed freehubs? Because I'm planning to buy GUB hubs which is a 11-speed hub and I'm planning to put a 8 speed cassette in it.
Yes, you’ll need a 1.8mm spacer.
Hello, saw your video and I wanted to ask something. I have a claris groupset, and wants to change my wheelset. The ones that I have selected has only 9,10,11 compatibility, will my 8 speed casette work on it? Or I will need a spacer as you've said (1.8mm spacer?) Thanks
Hi, I would try first before getting the spacer, because you might not need a spacer with the 10 speed hub.
@@DanyoSports Thank you for your warm response, I will check it out 💪🏻
@@creativemullet8412Hi! I am looking to do the same, did you need the spacer? Thanks in advance!
Can I use 1.85mm instead of a 1.8mm? I can't find a 1.8mm spacer...
Yes, it’ll work.
I have 11s mtb hubs and my cassette is 10s should I buy 1.85mm spacer?

Don’t need to add some grease on the spacer bro?
Not necessary, but you can put some to prevent seizing.

Hi, you don’t need spacer for that.
