  • In this video I will be giving reasons why I turn down these types of clients. When running a detailing business we are going to run across good clients and some difficult ones. The first topic we talk about is clients asking for discount out the gate. Has this ever happened to you ? If so share your story down below 👇 the next topic we talk about is clients that try to have us detailers use there products for a discounted price. How do you guys feel about that ?
    The last reason why we turn down clients is the distance. Unless you’re getting accommodated for your time then I personally don’t think it’s worth the time and gas. What is the furthest you dove ? For me I did almost 3 hours for a job comment down below I would love to hear it 👊🏽

    If they asking for discounts right off the back, they ain’t for me. Above all TIME is what is comes down too, that’s irreplaceable and everyone should be compensated for that based on your experience and quality of your work. Don’t ever let them bring you down. People don’t understand how much work, supplies and time goes into Detailing. Once you’re set and have an eye feel for your clients it’ll be easier to manage after that. Good work bro!

    Thanks for bringing up educating the customer. I hauled feed and equipment for a while, and everyone wants to give their two cents. Most of the time they mean well, but as an experienced truck driver I do everything I do for a reason. I explain why I do it my way, and that's final. It's my responsibility to get there safe, I'd rather lose a customer than lose my load by trying to do things their way.

    I think a lot of detailers shoot themselves in the foot. It is easy for me to say, since I have a decent paying job and detailing is a hobby/ side job. Set a minimum price. Account for all energy expended. If you are like me where you have a truck to load and unload, set your basic wash at 100 minimum. Interior cleaning is a minimum of 200. Try to set your prices where you are averaging 50 to 60 an hour. If you deal with a lot of hagglers, shoot your hourly where you are near 90 an hour. It is easier to bring the price down for reasonable people at the final point of sale. Meanwhile if a haggler talks you down where you average 70 or 80 an hour on them, you win and they feel like they won. I always quote high and then adjust the final bill on customer's attitude. It may seem shady, but I find it disrespectful for someone I don't know to try price negotiation on a service.

      Thanks for commenting on the video i appreciate it ! Yes definitely try to get 50 a hour minimum. When going through the shine supply training. We broke pricing down and it came down to charging 50-65 an hour. There is alot that goes into pricing time,product, gas and other expenses. For me I have a base price and if can go up if the condition is worst. For the people that haggle. They just ask for a quote and price shop. Then they alway come back. To book with us because they had a cheaper guy that didn’t do a good job. Now I don’t ever negotiate the people that do seem to always want more than what they paid for

    Not having your packages or prices set can make you shoot yourself in the foot.. i just learned this last week for a job i have tomorrow.. lets just say it went from $220 to $80 for a 1 step Polish and an in & out. This is a mistake I'll never make again but a mistake that had to be made... But I like a challenge and my goal is to finish this in 4 hours or 3 hours.... Truly $20 a hour...

      @m3finish  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes definitely you should last have website that has packages or some type of price sheet. Man I hope you did knock out that job in 3 hrs. For me a one step usually takes around 5-6 hours. Keep grind and thanks for dropping in on the comments 👊🏽

      @@m3finish let me tell you.. I did this in direct sunlight. Couldn't use my 5 inch pads with a rotary or orbital .. ended up having to do most of the car with a 3 in DA.... That was the worst part ... The in and out went smooth but the whole time Im telling myself NEVER AGAIN... it took me 6 hours to finish.... But yesterday I did a one step "exterior only" for $90 and they liked it so much they end up paying me $150... What I've learned is when it comes to cutting, polishing, and waxing is that this is very tedious, time consuming and it's an art in my opinion. I also learned that I must master my rotary because it really speeds up the job . I believe the key to it is your
      " tilt"; overall I enjoy each learning experience and I'm always ready to tackle more... This isn't a job to me it's a passion... Prepping is key also and I do all of my mobile detailing out of a 2008 Dodge charger SRT8... Very stealthy....
