OH.MY.GOSH!!!!! Absolutely stunning!!! Love the wallpaper you used, and the colors you chose were a perfect blend. I’m trying to get up the nerve to try blending on a piece that I’m just starting on. I keep telling myself it’s just paint, and I can paint over it if it looks like crap! hahahaha. Keep up the great work and your channel will grow by leaps and bounds faster than you can imagine!! Thank you for being so encouraging, Debbie!!! And you just have to go for it!I’m sure your piece will turn out great- and every blend after that even better!
Hi from Australia Taryn. Honestly, these nightstands are probably the most beautiful, elegant and heartwarming pieces I've seen in a long, long time! Your creativity is superb. It's clear to see that your artistic capacity is immeasurable. I'm sure you will become very well known in the 'artistic' world as life goes on. You certainly have found your creative forte .... or at least one area anyway! Your work truly uplifts my spirit whenever I see it. Thank you for sharing with us- It brings me so much joy. Many Blessings to you and your little family. Good luck, and keep doing what makes your spirit soar and your heart sing... it shows! With Unconditional love and light from Down under. Esther xx
Esther!!!! You sure know how to make a girl’s day! Thank you so very much for your kind words. I can’t tell you how much it means that you would take the time to watch my videos, let alone leave such a lovely comment. Thank you again!
Oh, Taryn! These are gorgeous! You know I always love what you do but these are next level. I can see why you want to keep them. They are not feminine; they are muscular. They actually remind me of the furniture in Beauty and The Beast. I love the colors and the shimmer. It looks like you even did some blending on the drawer handles. Artistry, Taryn. Pure artistry.🌸
Thank you, Deborah! They now, after you saying that, totally remind of of the furniture in Beauty and the Beast!!! And thank you, I’m going to tell him they are muscular- he won’t be able to argue with that! (And yes, I did a quick spray blend of silver and gold on the handles)
Just some ideas...you can dampen down the top of veneer that is coming up or bubbling and use an iron to steam it you can also use that method on gauges or dents in wood to expand the wood and get rid of the imperfections...
Yes, those are great tips! However in this case, the veneer was fully adhered, the problem was that the mdf underneath had gotten wet at some point and was swollen up creating little mounds in the top. And the other piece had gone all the way down to the mdf so any moisture would have caused swelling to that as well.
These pieces turned out so beautiful. It's so funny that I have a set if those tables and have never liked them. Now I wish I had your talent but at least I know that they can be better!
Julie! Thank you so much for making the rounds through some of my videos and leaving such wonderfully kind comments. I really appreciate it! And try your hand at your tables- it’s just paint! You may LOVE how they turn out. Or practice on something a little smaller first and then give it a go.
Hi Sarah, I can see why you're struggling to keep these or sell them. I think they are the prettiest side tables I've ever seen, I love how you blend your paints, it really enhances the wallpaper and that shimmer brings it up a notch....Take care...stay safe....

Oh my gosh I’m so glad I ran across this video because I have two end tables almost identical and have been racking my brain trying to figure out what to do with them! They are actually kind of big for an end table nowadays but they were originally from Wicks furniture and I really wanted to do something cool with them! Great ideas!
Hi Taren! Congratulations on 4 k subscribers 🎉🙌🏻🌟 You are so deserving and I know you will stack up many more with absolutely no problem❣️ I love to watch your videos....you are very good at producing your videos and your work is just beautiful and different in such a good way....you have established your style and I for one LOVE IT I just did a very ornate old mirror 3’ x4’ and used the color of the 9 drawer dresser I painted to go with itas the base....a beautiful slate blue and used a champagne antiquing gel which was a mix of gold and silver and made an antiquing gel with the slate paint and oh I wanted to keep it so bad.....the translucent antiquing gels over the slate blue was just stunning! The mirror was very old actually wood carved frame baroque style ( French Victorian style....4 corners ornate and leaves at top ....2 corners were completely missing....3 leaves on top and some of rope detail that went around whole mirror. I learn a lot from you and appreciate you very much! Thank you for sharing 😊kim
Kim, I can totally picture slate blue with a champagne glaze- that sounds stunning!!!! And I LOVE ornate mirrors- $10 is quite the steal for a 3x4. I have one in the shop that I refuse to part with because one day I’ll find a place for it 😂. Thank you for sharing your projects with me, I love hearing about them. Do you happen to have an Instagram or something the like that I could follow you on?
You are so talented! Love these tables. You have a great eye and are so artistic. Might not be able to see the shimmer the best on camera but you explained it very well! What a great idea to add it to the poly! What a cute little guy you have! Thanks for all you do to help us newbies try to learn!
How beautiful!!! Job well done! With the products you use, have you ever had the topcoat turn yellow? I’m afraid to use a liquid topcoat because of past bad experiences.
Thank you, Elisa! As far as topcoats go- the water based polyacrylic I use doesn’t yellow over time. However, if you have a piece that has the potential to bleed, it can look like the topcoat is yellowing when it’s actually coming from underneath. If I’m worried about bleed-through I will use a primer or I will seal with wax so it doesn’t reactivate anything. Oil based polys tend to yellow over time so that’s why I try not to use those over paint. You know some or all of this, but it’s just been my experience. I hope it was at least moderately helpful.
Thank you, Bonnie! I haven’t done any canvas paintings or anything. But so far I’ve tried three or four landscapes on furniture which has been a fun thing to try out and learn.
I picked up two side tables in the french provincial style that look very similar to these. How can you tell if it's real wood vs particle board or MDF?
The easiest way I’ve found is to look at the back, bottom, or inside the drawers where they didn’t put any finish and check for wood grain, veneer, particle board, mdf, etc.
This isn't " modeled" after the French Provincial style. It's in the Queen Anne style which itself stands alone as a stylistic development . " French Provincial" can be used to describe any of the styles produced in the outlying provinces, and generally associated with the 17th - 18th Centuries . Whether the piece is in the Louis 14th, 15th, 16th or 18th style or even the Empire (and sometimes beyond ) is a matter for determination based on a number of factors that can be relied upon using a little applied study and knowledge. FP isn't specifically a stylistic term despite being widely mistaken for one. This is due in large extent to manufacturers in the past turning out most " French Provincial" furniture in the very popular curvilinear style generally referred to as Louis 15th. ( some quite attractive) Genuine French Provincial furniture was rarely ever painted , as they were made using available wood species commonly found in the countryside, namely the various fruit and nut trees. They rarely if ever had marble tops, inlay work or ormolu hardware. There are books available that illustrate the development of furniture and furniture styles ( and their architectural cointerparts) that are very much worth reading and consulting.
I'm curious about these horror stories you've heard elohel. For the most part, I believe people who remain polite and apolitical have comments that emulate them. I have seen some furniture channels with a few comments lamenting painting over wood; but that's the extent of controversy I have seen, and it was still pretty mild. I just saw your etsy page, with the HQ images, and good lord, they are good. The Thanksgiving looking piece is my favorite, so far. I've been looking for places in my mom's or aunt's home where it might fit; I'm not sure it would though... and I don't have my own home ;_; I live under an I5 overpass in Los Angeles (not really, but close enough).
I’m in a group with other UA-camrs and they screen shot some pretty awful stuff people say- it always gets removed shortly thereafter and that person gets blocked so they can’t do it again. I’m always blown away by them, my people are always so kind. The whole painting wood thing just cracks me up- but even then I’ve only ever received one comment about that, thankfully. The Etsy page is fun, I just had my first sale on there a bit ago. Shipping was a little stressful, but I’m learning how to use that platform and any additional knowledge is good, so I’ll continue until I’m comfortable. Would your mom or aunt mind just showing up to their house with a new piece of not-so-subtle furniture in it? I just think that would be something amusing to witness. And I hear overpasses are the way to go in LA- they certainly are here in Portland. I’m sure you’ve decorated well. On another note, I’m curious if you’ve tried flipping anything yet? I know you were worried about not being able to sell at a reasonable price point.

I don't have anywhere to really work on stuff; the garage of the house I live in is filled to the brim with 2 cars and eleven billion boxes of old hoarder garbage.
