Haha, definitely not fearless- these colors terrified me on a piece of furniture. But I’m glad I did it! I’ll be a little less apprehensive next time I want to use these colors.

I Taren....I have to laugh bc when I saw fall color inspired in your title....I was thinking probably not going to like it 🙈 I am just not a fan of fall colors.....then I saw the owl and I was oh no! I find them creepy...😉 When I first got married 39 years ago this month I used to visit my in laws place in Florida and his Mom had this huge ceramic owl on the wall in the bathroom....I used to take it off the wall and put it in a closet and would replace before we left! But I am being honest when I say I really enjoyed watching you blend and blend into and extend the decoupage on the inside door.....really shows your talent.....you are an artist in every sense of the word! I think the piece turned out really nice! I really enjoy your videos....Have fun on your trip and thank you for sharing 😊kim

Fabulous!! You are an excellent teacher. Could you have added a bit of the lighter color to tone down the darker one on the branches? Or used it to add a high light? I paint with oils on canvas. Wet on wet style. Your creations are very inspiring. Thank you 😊
Thank you, Laura! Yes, I would have added a lighter color for highlights, but the original artist didn’t have it on theirs so I didn’t add it to these. I’ve wanted to try oil painting for some years now and I never find the time. One of these days!
Your creations are exactly what I love! Layers of color and pattern. Gold and gilding. Decoupage and transfers and papers. “I am not an artist” is not really true. One becomes an artist by taking that journey, experimenting and refining the skills, finding the medium and allowing one’s own creativity and imagination freedom. Love it! I am a big fan of pumpkin fall colors (and flavors!, Lol!). Just one note that could be better. The placement of the owl should have gone to the right. You placed your piece of paper all the way to the left of the inside door. Which put the owl to far left. He is flying into the crack of the door. When you have "movement" you want it to be moving into the page not off the page. So much work to fill in the "missing" scenery. I get that, I use to do extensive Photoshop work filling in "missing" parts to fill a desired area. But be mindful of your subject, in your case the owl which is the star of the show.
Yes to all the Fall flavors! And I understand what you’re saying about placement, however I placed this with intention. The owl was more flying towards you, not in the direction of the crack- If it was a profile image of him I would completely agree. And I wanted to fill in the tree on the right side to practice painting. A lot of the things I do are so I can gain additional skills and take folks along with me in the process.

Only thing that threw me off was the stark difference between the white shelves and backing compared to the rest of the piece. I wonder if you had painted it all first??🤔 but, overall, an awesome stunning piece! Honestly! Great job!!
Thanks, Michelle! I actually love the inside being such a contrast while still staying on theme. I think it would have been too much to have it painted as well since everything else was so “extra”. But maybe it’s because in person I can really make out the owl and forest print on the shelves and back and it’s hard to perfectly capture it in a photo. Or maybe you are right 😂.

Haha! I don’t know about being the decoupage queen, but the 10 lb is quite a bit like the tissue paper you use for gift wrapping. Very thin and pretty delicate. The 18 lb is quite a bit thicker- not quite as thick as newsprint, but getting there. It’s much easier to work with, but there is more of an edge in the finished product.
Stunning, as usual. And I absolutely LOVE the owl. And pumpkin. And all things Fall, although technically we might get Fall weather sometime in November if we are lucky. LOL Excellent piece of art and it inspires me to keep pushing and keep going and maybe one day I'll be half as good as you are at this thing. :) --- Lee

@@elegantupgrades I'm located in the southeastern part of Tennessee. Our Summers have gotten longer and longer over the years. And hotter and more humid, as well. When I was a kid we would have nice Fall weather by the end of September or first of October. I remember going trick or treating and it would be freezing. By the time my kids were old enough to trick or treat, it still felt like Summer most years. Some years it is still hot here on Thanksgiving, which is so weird and disheartening. Especially for this October baby --- Fall is my favorite season. I'm still set on finding the perfect "it's Fall all year" location and moving. :)
I don’t blame you for trying to find the perfect Fall location. I had hot hot summers where I grew up, but thankfully not a lot of humidity. I can’t imagine trying to paint with humidity either 😳
Once again hot mess to stunning! I’m having soooo much trouble with radial blends on the sides of a large dresser. I keep watching your videos and many others but you make it look so easy and mine not so much. Have a great visit with your family! Keep doing videos and I’ll keep watching until I get a success.
Large radial blends are incredibly difficult! It takes a LOT of patience for me to do them. You’ll even notice on this piece it’s a vertical blend upwards. I pick my battles with blends.

I don’t blame you for trying to find the perfect Fall location. I had hot hot summers where I grew up, but thankfully not a lot of humidity. I can’t imagine trying to paint with humidity either 😳
Once again hot mess to stunning! I’m having soooo much trouble with radial blends on the sides of a large dresser. I keep watching your videos and many others but you make it look so easy and mine not so much. Have a great visit with your family! Keep doing videos and I’ll keep watching until I get a success.
Large radial blends are incredibly difficult! It takes a LOT of patience for me to do them. You’ll even notice on this piece it’s a vertical blend upwards. I pick my battles with blends.
