    These still have your sparkle and flair even if the piece is a bit more modern. Love them! They feel like springtime and have a romantic feel. Know what you mean about the hardware. Hmm. What about a small green or white knob that let's the escutcheon and paper take center stage?

    Pretty nightstands and I do love the color you chose. I imagine that this painting style sells very well, but I do love it when you push the limits using many techniques, colors, and materials to come up with a 'one of a kind' statement piece. Sadly, I have not sold any pieces I have painted because I just haven't bothered to market them. I wish someone else would take care of that part of my business plan so I can spend what limited time I have being creative....

    • @elegantupgrades
      @elegantupgrades  2 роки тому

      Yeah, the fun artistic finishes always take a bit more time to find the “right buyer” for me. They will have the most interaction and comments, but crickets when it comes to an actual sale. And while there aren’t any other nightstands similar to these in my local market, the simplicity of them does sell quite a bit faster. And let’s be honest- it’s nice to clear out space to make more room for something that will speak to me.

    • @ladymeropi
      @ladymeropi 2 роки тому

      @@elegantupgrades Thanks for your input. Good to know that the simpler the better as far as selling. I do love your work and admire your talent. I'd buy one of your 'Art' pieces, it is like buying a painting to add drama to a room.

But I tried taking every precaution and I’ve been constantly pulling the drawers out and pushing them back in and haven’t seen anything trying to come up so I think it will be just fine. I love your work!! Your layers and washes and extras are amazing!! I must say though- I am not a fan of this grey primer. I used it once and had bleed through just like this - after the entire piece was completely finished!😫 I just tried it again and same thing!! I’m going back to my shellac based primer even though it’s harder to work with.

    • @elegantupgrades
      @elegantupgrades  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you, Diane! While this is my favorite primer, you’re right, it doesn’t stop all bleed through. So in cases where I know it will be a problem I will spot treat with spray shellac. Then I still have no cleanup and the smell dissipates much faster than using it on an entire piece. I usually only have issues with it on really tough pieces like mahogany, but this was a weird case.

    • @dianealves8060
      @dianealves8060 2 роки тому

      @@elegantupgradesgood to know! I have an entire gallon of water this primer! Do you spot spray with shellac before or after? Does it matter?

    • @elegantupgrades
      @elegantupgrades  2 роки тому +1

      I’ll spot spray before on areas I know for sure will bleed, like if I sanded through a finish or something. And when there are times I know I will be doing 2 coats I’ll spot prime after the first where there is bleed through and then have a consistent finish on the second coat. I don’t love painting directly over shellac so I try to make sure the paint goes over the primer. Wow, I hope that actually made sense 😂
