I’m honestly a sponge to these videos the combination of knowledge you’re getting from Don and Deano is top tier . I learn something from these every single time I say that very sincerely 💪🏻thanks .
i fish for 30+kg fish down here in south western australia, and i use varivas ocean record shock leader at about 220lb breaking strain. but its really informative to see other approaches in other countries so thanks for this amazing content guys!
I live perth Australia and use Black magic supple leader. Superb line to tie knots with. Fluorocarbon line i use icon as 100% invisible. Fluorocarbon line i always tie extra twist to prevent the knot slipping. Great vid guys.😃
I think a lot of guys go the budget option first (unless they are big spenders). I think it’s only when you lose a big fish, that your views change, and spending the extra money becomes an option.
I am a huge fan of Maxima ultragreen since forever. I have tried T-line and Kingfisher. after this episode, I would realy like to try the Areaty line. I like the JDB ultra tough braided leaders as well, but use them mainly off the beach or where the snags are less; as I tend to whine a bit having to re-ty braided leaders after loosing it in rocky areas. looking forward to visiting Bilimoria and Cintsa area in May.
Hey Henk Looking forward to meeting you and having a throw🎣🤙🏻 Maxima will always be a great choice- no denying that. Araty is such an amazing product, and I don’t think we will shift from it- it’s been a bulletproof buy, and a leader we won’t go without! I hope the wallet is fully stocked for when you visit Bilimoria🤣🤣🤣
I always use a double uni knot for my braid to leader. I can tie it easily and trust it. More wraps with the braid and less wraps with the leader. Always use a fluoro leader maybe its from bass fishing. I have 6 specific bass setups and use straight fluoro on my crank bait and jerkbait setups. Luckily baitcasters don't use a ton of line. Looking for a suggested fluoro leader lb for my new setup - Shimano Stradic 5000 Assassin Amia Zero 4 piece xh 11ft and 20lb JDB DNA braid. Fishing in Kzn mostly toti but down the south coast to Pumula and up towards bluff. I am thinking 20lb to 30lb leader but I don't want anything too thick as the DNA is very thin. Throwing Iron Candy, GT Icecream and Clone lures mostly
Let tell you guys a secret. Your first Bilmoria comp. It was first time ever fishing in the ocean, or as i say it "die dam wat die engelse gebou het". Im a vaalie as you guys mok me😂. Now im here in East London 10 years. That day i got 3 blue fish. Witch i think was not bad for the first try. It was funny when the first blue was landed i had to ask to a neighbor what kind of fish it was, the look i got😮😅... It was actually funny. But that is how you learn. Your videos help me a lot. Thank you for that.
Hey Johann That’s awesome to hear that we inspired you to get a line wet in the ocean🎣🤣 3 blues on your first outing is damn excellent- you should be proud!!!! I hope you’re fishing on the 7th of April🤙🏻
@untraceablefishing HI, yes I'm thinking about it, very strongly. It will be a bit off a challenge for me, I don't know these types of fish. And to be honest, I'm kak scared of 🦈 sharks. What will happen when I get one on the line. Boet, I'm running the marathon in double time . What Billmoria branch are you guys from.
@@johannschonfeldt1474 no man, you must not be scared of sharks- especially a spotted gulley. We aren’t at any branch bud, we operate out the East Coast. But visit both stores weekly, and have this Tackle Tuesday segment which we film weekly. I think fishing these comps is aimed at people just like you- it’s to target and try educate on these species🤙🏻🎣 Consider it, you won’t be sorry!
Really enjoyed listening to Don and his knowledge especially about the mono and fluorocarbon, he is right about a lot of the stuff, I have used Araty as a leader and landed a a big black tip kingfish on a live caranteen (stripey) of the bricks, but he was right it dose have alot of memory and Abit soft but ties good Knotts👍 I would say he was right also if it has any twists , nicks and grazes it's better to cut and tie a new piece👍 thanks guys, ohya please open a shop in Durban😁
Great content. But, maybe I’m missing something. Braid is spooled essentially for a longer cast but then if you add a leader onto the spool then distance must be compromised. I just use a 0,6 or 0,7 mono or fluoro for about 1m from the braid. Is my application wrong? I have used a braid leader but then chucked it in. Area I fish is mainly rocks.
No, your application is 100% correct. This is your drop- and you are correct there! If you use a braided leader (braid), you can push 6-8m and then again, use a mono/fluoro drop of 1-1.5m. Hope this makes sense🎣
Busy testing some 30lb on my lure casting setup, only one 3hour session so far, initial impressions no wind knots, fairly thin but not as thin as claimed, feels a hint rough in its finished, to me a good test is after 6 to 12months of abuse, thats what seperates braid from great braid, watch this space for an update.@@heinzventer5849
Totally understandable bud🎣🤙🏻 We use T-Line for sinker snoot and Araty for hook snoot. So we use a cheaper and more expensive set up. It may cost a bit over R100 for the hook snoot, but well worth it and you’ll have it for a long time!

Excellent show guys!
Glad you’re enjoying them🔥🎣❤️
Good old Granny knots double up working well😊
Good until you lose a big fish🤣
Great Video.
Thank you, Lyle🙏🏻🎣

Being budget conscious like Don , I started using Berkley Big Game as my leader material . Not perfect but it worked

It depends on the species targeted. Under say 2kg 20lb is fine, 5kg fish 30lb and 50lb for any gt or big mackerel
Thank you
I also switched from Maxima leader to Araty. I couldn't believe how much better it was than Maxima and it's almost half the price.
Maxima will always remain really good, let’s not take away from them. But Araty is really amazing stuff, and great value for money🎣

Keep it up really nice. Any chance of making a video with the best knots for main line to leader to trace and different option to make knots?
Hey Fisho
Give us a couple weeks🤙🏻 we busy setting up that we can really get involved and technical showing off these knots🎣
In my opinion T Line is the only line manufactured in South Africa and is one of the strongest. Been using it over a decade now.
No denying it’s good stuff- but try the Araty, you won’t be sorry🤙🏻👌🏻
No denying it’s good stuff, but give Araty a try… you won’t be sorry🤙🏻👌🏻
Thanks for some sound advice..
We try, everyone has there own ideas around leaders, but nice to discuss options and hopefully help some anglers find what works for them personally
Only a pleasure🤙🏻🎣

Hi Guys
Thanks for the info. Please can you make a cheat sheet so we can quickly refer to it re lines, braided leaders and the mono.

Hey Heinz
I’ll do so🤙🏻🎣
Hey Heinz

What is your take on Perlon braid?
@@heinzventer5849the Perline stuff is not bad at all. We have used it in the past, but prefer boss and Grinder as “entry” level braids.

I think we will get to the assassin rods in a couple episodes- we have a couple lined up before then🤙🏻
