I have a okumo tpx330 reeI with 3 bearings bought for R160 as a combo with a 6 foot rod that I learned bass fishing on when I was in college in 2008.It was honestly abused and neglected by me for atleast 15 years replaced the handle after it snapped in half and have had to strip it down to clean and lube it a few times. Accidentally stepped on it next to the dam a while back and though it's the end of it now but with some tlc it's back up and running to do another few decades. Don't have anything bad to say about it and highly recommend okuma reels to anybody that want quality on a budget
I’ve got the metaloid, cedros, ceymar, itx and now 3 months ago got the inspira. The inspira for ultra light fishing has been extremely fun! I’m very impressed with the drag and quality in the Inspira. The ITX is a beautiful reel as well, on our channel you would have seen us catch the 5-6kilo shad in the beginning of this year on a 2500 ITX and 5 ft 6 power plus.
@@untraceablefishing Thanks, it was a cannon. Yes, I heard about it, Jacques and I need to get the details. Where do we find the details on the comp? @ChriSurf23 I can definitely recommend the ITX 3000 since I have 2x of the 2500 and 2x of the 3000. I haven't tried the penn pursuit yet.
Great video guys 👍 love the longer format of video🎉 big fan personally of Okuma. Their high end range is as good as some of the best reels out there but for maybe half the price 🔥🔥🔥 With the tomcat though , I did buy a fresh Tomcat for a trip to Marshstrand haga haga a year or so back I did land an 8kg Silver/4kg black/2kg Galjoen/2kg Pignose on the Okuma Tomcat during the weekend but by the end the of the weekend the reel was not working anymore . Upon opening the reel the handle was incredibly stuck to the main gear literally impossible to remove so it made repairs very difficult but anyways I got it done sorted it out and it was working fine for another odd month or so and then the graphite area around the bail arm broke completely during a cast so I feel theyre slightly weaker because on the other hand I have a few revenger pros for quite a few years now and I firmly believe they're probably the best in their category in terms of value for money . I don't have a bad thing to say about the Revenger, caught so many fish on them , Incredibly easy to independently service as well. Alot of big fish caught on those reels Ive Seen my friend land a 6,5kg grunter quite comfortably on a size 30 revenger pro .
Thanks for the comment buddy🤙🏻👌🏻 Okuma have come a very long way. Value wise- they can’t be beaten👊🏻🤙🏻 The revenger, for its price- is in a league of its own! It’s a pity about the tomcat- we really love that one.
Thanks for the feedback, good to hear real world experiences. I must be honest though yours is the first negative report on a reel that has sold well, there can occasional be problems with all reels bur agree the Revenger for the money is a top choice
@@untraceablefishing honestly Okuma is the way. I even have a 8ft drop shot one piece rod from Okuma. It's the Raw Plugging 2 ounce version but I can easily cast out a 4 ounce and its now lasted me more than 2 years and I put that rod through work. Ive caught all sorts .
@@donczns yes I was told the same by Neel. I honestly was really enjoying the tomcat . I had the 14000 version with the Dual Force Drag . I'm not even heavy handed on my tackle etc this was definitely one of those unfortunate scenarios. With that said ..the tomcat hasn't put me off Okuma at all. They're an amazing brand ..
Nice video! I got into Okuma reels because I could not justify the price of the other "big" brands, becoming a firm convert over time ending up with the full range of Ceymars, Ceymar baitrunners, Azores, Epixor and some ITX reels - the ITX reels are hands down some of my favorite ultralight reels. I live in Australia now, Okuma reels are often more expensive than Shimmis! I still buy the Okumas though from SA, cheap as chips!
I can only imagine they are cheap as chips if you’re importing from here🤣🤙🏻 They make absolutely amazing reels- we have been so impressed with what we use! I am assuming you once lived in SA?
@@untraceablefishing moved to Aus about three years ago. All I can say is that man we are spoilt for choice in South Africa when it comes to fish variety! I was shocked when I got here (south west australia) as to how small the variety of fish species was when fishing from shore (fresh and salt). As for the price of reels, an 2021 model okuma ITX 2500 here costs A$199 (R2400) at Billimoria it costs R1399! Same for rods, I am having family bring over some Assasin and Okuma Precison rods when they come to visit purely because Assasin rods are eye wateringly expensive here and we dont get okuma grinder rods here. South Africa has a lot of problems, but the fishing and the people are amazing!
@@MrGroenslang yeah bud… We are truly blessed with what we have in this country- it’s a pity it has fallen apart like it has though🫣 But it helps if you’re earning Australian Dollars and converting to rands to purchase I guess! Can't wait for next weeks. Any chance of doing a reel comparison, more on size comparisons ( rock & surf) since each manufacturer has their own coding.
I actually caught a 8kg carp on my fiancée pink okuma fin chacer that i bought for her if i recall it was R200 and i was super impressed with it. Not i have only okuma reels from an avent to a cedros 14000 and i must say i love her little reel more then all my "fancy" reels😂😂😂
I’m looking at a 3000 size reel and I’m stuck between the itx and the Penn pursuit - what do you guys recommend ? I like the power handle on the new pursuits but I’ve never tried out an Okuma reel
What would be your recommendation on choosing which okuma inspira reel size for a 7ft rod (mainly estuary and river) and for a 10/11ft rod for GT shore fishing?
The Ceymar HD or Inspira ISX will outlast the FX by far, nothing that wrong with the fx besides they wear fast and the anti reverse doesnt handle salt water
Well if it's an okuma reel you are looking for I would say take a look at the cedros. I'm a daiwa/ Shimano/ penn guy myself...but I do own the cedros in 4000 as well as the 8000. Hell of a reel for the price and what you get. Robert in NYC.
okuma flight surf 12000...supplied with 2 spare reels , neither of which has a line clip and both do not have enough space to load enough line for surf fishing !!!! my complaint to okuma was unanswered !!! dont buy their products !
