Totally normal to feel this way! As someone who is also bisexual, being in a heterosexual relationship can for sure feel invalidating, sometimes even to yourself. The first time my best friend actually came over to my house I went to CRAZY extremes, stuff like making sure my entire room looked nice, staying up late the night before making them a gift (a little hollow knight made of paint chips to match the one I made myself) and I just, have always gone all out with them because I do in fact love them very much. Hi there! My cat died, and we had something special. When I was a baby, he always wanted to stay with me every night to protect me. Every day until he died, we stayed together. We were best friends. We were like siblings, though different species, so to say I was devastated when I knew he had cancer would be an understatement. When he died, I could still hear his purr and when I got home everyday, I would cry more and more until I couldn't. Now here's the problem: he died in 2017, I didn't go through the stages of grief, and about 2 weeks ago, I started crying again. I'm going through just one stage of grief after thinking I had moved on and not crying about him for about 3 years straight. Is there a possible reason/solution for this? I'm calling a couple people and I don't want to break in the middle of a call. Thanks!
I experienced something similar, years after my cat died I suddenly started grieving again. I do not know whether there is a solution, but it’s probably the best option to just embrace your pain. Your mind might have been busy processing different things back then so it might have tried not to overwhelm you and pushed your feelings away until there was space for you to grieve. That is just my theory, in the end I have no idea. But I would treat the pain the same as if it didn’t happen years ago. It’s the same pain. Embrace it, cry, talk to someone you trust and allow yourself to heal. Wishing you lots of strength :)

Time I explain. So I have this guy friend, I’m openly gay, I think he’s gay and he likes me. Was talking in a chatroom about friendship and stuff, and I mentioned that romance isn't everything and that friendship can be more important. Then somebody said "A romantic interest is more important than a friend by definition". I asked for some evidence to such a claim, and they brought up this argument: "When a friend finds a 'serious' significant other, they will not have much time for you anymore." (And note that this person isn't knowledgeable about asexuality and equates romance to => eventually will want sex, it's not merely about romance in and of itself) Honestly, I wasn't able to formulate a counter-argument to that. Any counter-examples I brought up were shrugged off as not being 'serious', but I still don't know what they meant by that. It doesn't help that a close friend of mine, possibly my best friend, just recently did just that.. Found a girlfriend and is now spending all of his time with her, can't get enough of her even after spending every weekend and most of his free days with her for many months. It makes me feel inadequate. It feels like my friendship, which up to this point I placed great importance on, means nothing to him. It makes me feel like my own relationship isn't "good enough", not 'serious', because my partner needs a great deal of quality "alone time" where he’s not bothered by anyone, and during semester he also completely immerses herself in her studying, which means that maybe we get to spend a day together once a month. I'm kind of a very romantic person, so part of me wishes for a relationship where that person is the focus of my entire life and I spend most of my time with them. But on the other hand, I really don't see it that way, that a romantic interest would be inherently so important. I feel that friends are people who I can rely on in my worst moments, who are going to be there for me whatever happens, who can understand what I mean without having to say much or explain in great detail, who would never lie to me for their own convenience, and they are also people I would trust with my life. Meanwhile, romance seems to be more of a hormonal reaction that says nothing about the person. They might be completely untrustworthy and I could still have romantic feelings for them. How would that make them inherently more important? Wouldn't you expect a relationship that is built on trust, communication, honesty, compatible mindsets, shared interests and so on, to be more stable and in the long term more valuable than a relationship based on hormones and primitive attraction? I'm a bit lost..

Ironically, I just watched the last video y'all did about stages of friendship and I thought to myself "okay so what does that make my best friend and I?" because it felt like something was missing, and then this video comes along the next day and describes our friendship exactly
So... I guess my best friend and I have something we need to talk about
Hi there!
My cat died, and we had something special. When I was a baby, he always wanted to stay with me every night to protect me. Every day until he died, we stayed together. We were best friends. We were like siblings, though different species, so to say I was devastated when I knew he had cancer would be an understatement. When he died, I could still hear his purr and when I got home everyday, I would cry more and more until I couldn't.
Now here's the problem: he died in 2017, I didn't go through the stages of grief, and about 2 weeks ago, I started crying again. I'm going through just one stage of grief after thinking I had moved on and not crying about him for about 3 years straight.
Is there a possible reason/solution for this? I'm calling a couple people and I don't want to break in the middle of a call.

I experienced something similar, years after my cat died I suddenly started grieving again. I do not know whether there is a solution, but it’s probably the best option to just embrace your pain. Your mind might have been busy processing different things back then so it might have tried not to overwhelm you and pushed your feelings away until there was space for you to grieve. That is just my theory, in the end I have no idea. But I would treat the pain the same as if it didn’t happen years ago. It’s the same pain. Embrace it, cry, talk to someone you trust and allow yourself to heal. Wishing you lots of strength :)

So I have this guy friend, I’m openly gay, I think he’s gay and he likes me. His friends used to be like REALLY homophobic and he liked his friends a lot but he still defended me :)
He keeps on giving compliments, but not like casual ones. And he complimented my RAINBOW shoe laces so like, big hint or what.
He tried to impress me and he keeps on trying to get me to hang out with him when I’m with m friends.
He jokes around that he’s gay and likes me which is out of the blue, amiright?
And he finds every chance he gets to casually just.. hang out with me and hug me or anything.
Plus I like him and he doesn’t mind me taking care of him when he was like, really angry and sad so 😳👌
Hope he still likes me when school starts again, I kinda want to tell him..
A guy I had a crush on and met through mutual friends invited me out to dinner almost every weekend, invited me to his house to watch anime, and let me meet his mom. I told him I had a crush on him 4 months later and he told me we only hung out so much bc his actual friends weren't available 🙃

Not gonna lie, i needed this a long long time ago. I truely convinced myself for years I wasn't in love with my best friend. But I was, and in many ways still am. But hey now that I can recognize the feelings I can recognize it in the future and act on it. Instead of being the 3rd unintended romantic wheel.

I have a friend like this, we both treat each other great and really like hanging out. We consider ourselves "each others therapist" cause were always checking up on each other. We even trolled on roblox (yes, i play roblox what ya gonna do about it) as lesbians 😊 And she came out to me about considering being bi, although she said she might be straight.

Was talking in a chatroom about friendship and stuff, and I mentioned that romance isn't everything and that friendship can be more important. Then somebody said "A romantic interest is more important than a friend by definition". I asked for some evidence to such a claim, and they brought up this argument:
"When a friend finds a 'serious' significant other, they will not have much time for you anymore."
(And note that this person isn't knowledgeable about asexuality and equates romance to => eventually will want sex, it's not merely about romance in and of itself)
Honestly, I wasn't able to formulate a counter-argument to that. Any counter-examples I brought up were shrugged off as not being 'serious', but I still don't know what they meant by that.
It doesn't help that a close friend of mine, possibly my best friend, just recently did just that.. Found a girlfriend and is now spending all of his time with her, can't get enough of her even after spending every weekend and most of his free days with her for many months.
It makes me feel inadequate. It feels like my friendship, which up to this point I placed great importance on, means nothing to him. It makes me feel like my own relationship isn't "good enough", not 'serious', because my partner needs a great deal of quality "alone time" where he’s not bothered by anyone, and during semester he also completely immerses herself in her studying, which means that maybe we get to spend a day together once a month.
I'm kind of a very romantic person, so part of me wishes for a relationship where that person is the focus of my entire life and I spend most of my time with them. But on the other hand, I really don't see it that way, that a romantic interest would be inherently so important. I feel that friends are people who I can rely on in my worst moments, who are going to be there for me whatever happens, who can understand what I mean without having to say much or explain in great detail, who would never lie to me for their own convenience, and they are also people I would trust with my life.
Meanwhile, romance seems to be more of a hormonal reaction that says nothing about the person. They might be completely untrustworthy and I could still have romantic feelings for them. How would that make them inherently more important?
Wouldn't you expect a relationship that is built on trust, communication, honesty, compatible mindsets, shared interests and so on, to be more stable and in the long term more valuable than a relationship based on hormones and primitive attraction?
I'm a bit lost..
Ideally you base a romantic relatioship on trust companionship etc then also enjoy sex..
I agree with you. I honestly prefer friends over lovers. And if you have to abandon someone just to date, then I’m not dating anyone, because friends for me are special.
@@shootingsmilla1239 Apply the other videos here on couples, good and bad partners, etc. But from experience I can say that things probably won't completely click into place until you've experienced romantic love.

if you trust that person, you both should watch the video together and after its finished, say out loud that all of this applies to you. Not directly to your friend, more like youre speaking to yourself ;) Your friend may get curios and ask who it is. then you look into your friends eyes and say "You"

I would like to say me and my Crush are friends but we barley get to see each other, we’re in the same class but she has her own friends. we do play together sometimes. I ask her if she needs help with things and always try to make her smile and laugh. I try to comfort her as best as I can.
