    Hi guys!
In this video, I will be sharing very special recipe with my very special friend Be. She is Vietnamese and such a master of Vietnamese cooking! So far I learned so much from her and can't wait to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine and give her more knowledge of Korean cuisine! She is such a great cook with a super fun personality, as you can tell if you watched the video that I filmed with Be in her kitchen!
In this video, she's teaching us how to make Bánh Xèo, Vietnamese Sizzling Crepes. It was super fun and easy as all Asian at Home is about. Of course, super delicious too! I'm going to make this Banh Xeo again this weekend by myself! I can't wait to taste this because since I tasted homemade version, I was dying to eat it again!!
Be gives us so much great tips of cooking Banh Xeo at home. If you want to know "How to EAT" Banh xeo, this video will be very helpful as well! :-D
So please don't forget to thank Be about this delicious sharing!!
If you want to know much more authentic Vietnamese recipes from my lovely friend Be, please visit her Facebook page, Love for Rice & Noodles and like her page!

I am Vietnamese and I make it all the time. My mom taught me when I was in my early teens and she also puts in sliced onions and sliced button mushrooms. There is also a vegetarian version and you put in sliced button mushrooms, julienne carrots, sliced fried tofu, sliced onions. I like to have the best of both worlds so I brown the meat and veggies then pour in batter. Alot of ppl eat it without rice paper cuz you can wrap it up using the green leaf lettuce. Another way is just eating it on a plate and you put all your herbs and fish sauce on top and eat with chopstick.

My cousin has banh xeo parties all the time LOL it's doable!! We put heaps of meat and other ingredients too because we focus more on the meat and stuff not really the crepe. And we've never eaten it with rice paper before, just wrapping it in the lettuce and then dip it in the sauce, this is new!

  • @linited

A flatter edged pan would help with getting that super thin and crispy edge. Best part of banh xeo. Normally I've had it with smaller cut pork pieces and shell on tiny shrimp/prawns so you can just eat the whole thing too. Wrapped in lettuce and dipped in nuoc mam is the best. Totally agree banh xeo parties are impossible haha. You end up eating other people's as you wait for yours. Yum!

I think this is one of the best instructional videos I have seen on how to make the Vietnamese sizzling crepes! Be's banh xeo is the yummiest looking I've seen on youtube so far. Her banh xeo looks crispy and so delectable. I was not a fan of banh xeo for a long time because I had to make it growing up...believe me, when you have to make it, the appeal is not as good as it is if someone else is making it for you. LOL! I did not know to wrap it up in rice paper until a few years ago and I think whoever thought of that is genius since eating banh xeo unwrapped is messy (but still super delicious, of course!) LOL! Also, my family used mung beans instead of shrimp (I hear it's what poor people use - hehehe!). Since they take a long time to make, we keep them warm in the oven as we're making them so we'll have a whole bunch to eat at one time.

One thing I wanted to point out, Be said Viets like to wrap everything in rice paper. Yes, it's true, but a lot of stuff is just wrapped in lettuce or greens...traditionally, the banh xeo was wrapped in greens so the use of rice paper was a more recent thing. We wrap fried spring rolls, fried shrimp and sweet potato fritters, all kinds of foods in lettuce/greens/herbs. I think we gravitated towards rice paper because it makes it easier to eat things like banh xeo and for me, fried spring rolls....but that doesn't mean that's how it was originally intended, unlike say spring rolls which were made to be eaten wrapped in rice paper. :)

I just put the herbs and lettuce right on top of the crepes and pour some of that fish sauce on. And eat it with a knife and fork.

Thank you for the lots of tips! I just made my first time this Vietnamese crape before watching your video. Mine became a disaster because I used a stainless pan. 😣 I wish I watched your video first but now I know. Thanks again!
