This is dope! I'm currently in the process of building grants stealth shelf from tkor. Would you be able to add magnetic child locks to this one too?
Yup, you sure could, I would just recommend using Soft Close, Gas Struts "Amazon link below" instead of using the hinges used in this build.
The Gas struts come in a variety of diff types ones that open and close softer and slower, and ones that are able to hold more weight.
Adding gas struts, those magnetic child locks, and adding either a layer of Pluck foam, or a cheaper option thick carpet, & I think you end up with the best that both builds have to offer. Another additional step to the build I did which I would also recommend, is installing a magnetic backing underneath the Foam or carpet.
Adding magnetic support will keep your items from moving at all and keep them exactly in place. You can buy something that's like a poster board except it's magnetic that is able to be cut to fit However your measurements dictate. Or a similar alternative that's cheaper, is just buying some bulk neodymium magnets.
They come In a variety of shapes and sizes, I find the square or rectangular ones that are around 1-2" Work the best. You could also buy some magnetic strip tape, and cut it to the sizes you need to hold your magazines in place, or if needing to hold the weapon just use multiple long horizontal strips or multiple of the smaller square or rectangular neodymium magnets, cut or placed to size, with around 1-2" of width in between each horizontal piece of the magnetic tape.
Just vary the width based on the weight of the items, heavier the item place the horizontal strips and or the square/rectangular magnets with less width between them, lighter items less width in between strips if needing to save money.
Personally I used a magnetic backboard, with carpet placed over top, which supported everything pretty good, but then I placed a few extra square/rectangular neodymium magnets, just to add extra strength and support. I used the Gas Struts in the link below on my build, and added a magnetic key lock but not the child proof kind, used one that's similar to a hotel key card I can keep in my wallet or wherever. Hope this helped.
