Suhweet! I started building distressed mantles after I saw your video on building them, then I started incorporating concealment shelves into the mantle builds just like you’ve done here! I sold quite a number of them thanks to you. The one thing I did differently was leaving the French cleat system and making my own hinge system by drilling nylon bushings into the lower back outside corners as well as into the panel which lowers down. Then making steel pins to fit inside the bushings that go through the outside into the panel which then acted as a hinge. All I had to do then was put wood dowels in from the outside to keep the pin from eventually working it’s way out and presto a hinged compartment!

The cool thing about the RFID locks is that they sell RFID rings that look really nice. Then you have it on you at all times, never need to worry about a key card that is in the other room or in your other pants' pocket or a little one finding it.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

Great stash spot for not one, but two handguns! One for each hand, just like Bad Boys movies! On the ready in a split second to murder the tweeker trying to steal your 12 year old 46" flat screen. Or better yet your teenage kid stumbling in drunk after sneaking out to party with their friends. Don't even need a pass code, just a tap key. Don't even need to put a key in a lock, perfect for a toddler to open with ease. Nice!

Thanks Jeff! The cost isn't bad at all. Just depends on how you want to trick it out. The wood itself only takes a 6' 1x10 and a 6' 1x8. May be cheaper just to buy a 12' 1x10. So just depends on the material cost is your area. As far as selling again it depends on your area. The only place online that sells anything like it charges $300.

Very nice! Huge fan of the craftsmanship brother. Curious what this entire mantle would sell for just as it is completed in the video? What would it cost to build such a nice mantle or shelf with the hardware, magnets, wood and the whole entire thing?

I always install those locks before I put the back on., but this application, that would be tough

A great video, but how do you attach it to the wall? I watched your previous vids about distressing wood and making a faux wooden beam (excellent!), but they attached to the wall via a French cleat. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anything like that in this video?
