MOTORCYCLING THROUGH AMAZING CHEDDAR GORGE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 жов 2024
- Ride through this amazing road with a stunning backdrop of cliff faces in a limestone Gorge in Cheddar, Somerset, England. A motorcyclist favourite & another bucket list route to ride. Pick the right time out of season as it is a very popular area with tourists.
The beginning of the ride after the tourist shops & Cave entrance youll experience the Gorge ride itself, this section is 3 miles & is spectacular. Initially it's a 20mph then 30mph speed limit through the Gorge.
Be on the lookout for wondering wild goats as well that roam the road!
I ride this 40 mile clockwise loop taken from the 'Bikers Britain' book by Simon Weir.

I am going to visit cheddar Gorge this year, travel from Luton 😊. Super video you made 👌🏻
I really appreciate you're kind comments Pablo, enjoy the Gorge! Let me know what you think, its short, but enjoyable to turn around then ride back the other way 😉 Daz
Never been but always on me to go to list, Cracking vid Daz keep it going
Can recommend the Gorge! Thanks Troopz your encouraging comments are really appreciated 🙏👍
Lovely run out
A case of quality not quantity in relation to the Gorge section as it's just under 3 miles so worth riding back down to get a different perspective 👍
👀👍 very good video.
Thank you 👍
Great vid again Daz. Love the Gorge, great road through and always good for a bit of dronage. If you ever go down that way again, there's a farm cafe at Priddy which is just out the top of the Gorge to the right. Great food, the waiter if he is still there is funny as hell. He insults you but in a good way. Great character. Hope you got to see the mountain goats hanging off the edge at the top? By god they got some balls on them, no way I could be up that high. Stay safe buddy
Thanks Tojjer, great info I'll be sure to drop by that farm shop next time. A few awesome bends on that short road I just had to go up & down it twice. No goats earlier in the day but they came down later on to play who blinks first when they were standing at the side of the road as I rode past 🤣.
Thanks Tojjer, I'll definitely drop by that farm cafe next time appreciate the info. No goats earlier in the day but there were later on after I'd done the loop & went back up the Gorge to come down again. I played who blinks first as they were stood right at the side of the road as I rode past!! I literally could have poked them in the eye 🤣

Hi Daz. At 08:15, that church is St Cuthbert's in Wells, not the cathedral which is seen at 08:18. Fun Fact: St Cuthbert's is where the church fete scene in the movie "Hot Fuzz" was filmed. Count the pinnacles if you watch the movie. The cathedral was painted out of all the outdoor shots in the movie.
Hi Hymek, thanks for the correction on that. I didn't know that's where 'Hot Fuzz' was filmed, excellent comedy that is. 👍
I live 20 minutes from the Gorge but can only have ridden it 5 times 🤷🏼 That breakie looked good.
I'd definitely consider making a point of riding through particularly if you live locally. Yes The Prison café was an interesting find, food was tasty 😋, thank you for commenting 👍
@@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips as you mentioned most of the Gorge is 20, plus you have rocks and goats in the road 🤣 The road you ride after the Gorge is brilliant though 😎
@@TheDervMan yes its a bit precarious seeing the falling rock signs 😱 . Not sure which is worse, a goat stood staring at u when u go around a bend or being taken out by a bolder!!
Great location for scrubbing in new tyres... especially if you live just up the road in Bristol. The Prison Cafe is at Northleach the location for the comedy series "This Country"..the square also has a nice cafe/ restaurant and clean public loos ! cheers Richard (Bristol Honda 500cbx)
Thanks Richard, you can certainly use the grip on the extreme side wall on a few bends. I loved riding up the Gorge, you are very fortunate to have it on your doorstep. I did see on the Prison website it hosts various meets & events, a great meet up location for a few bike buddies & then a ride out 👍
@@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips if you go back to Northleach, there's a lovely single track to Bibury. You'll find The Hub on this road which houses classic cars and bikes ( free entry) plus there's a cafe.Again there's another cafe on the Cotswolds airport between Bibury/ Tetbury ( another Bike meeting place) ( Details on their Facebook page). The road between Cirencester/Tetbury/Bibury/Burford/ Chipping Norton is a classic if free of cars.Hope this helps. Its a lovely area and if you have time explore the small roads around Marlborough.Richard
The airport cafe is called AV8
@@richardfews2113 that's awesome thanks Richard, always great insight to get local information on places to go. I think next time I'll research a place a bit more to make sure places like these you mention are included in the video.
how about stopping and going into the caves in the Gorge? Is it accessible to tourists?
@@telluwhat Its very popular come holiday season, the Gorge is almost 400 feet deep & 3 miles long. Its England's largest gorge. I haven't been into the Gorge myself I mainly went to experience riding the road through it at the top. Its a short road but worth the ride 👍
He should really have been called Cheddar George
That would have been more relatable. Fascinating how they can recreate a facial reconstruction from the skull.
New helmet ?
@@user-fv1576 I changed it a while ago, I'm happy with it 👍
