    Great interview. Pleased to see Michael has come over from the dark side. As a gay man in Newcastle upon Tyne I absolutely loathe Stonewall. They're cowards. Never ever have I seen a representative of Stonewall be interviewed despite numerous media outlets inviting them to their studios. Instead Stonewall issue press releases. They're afraid of being challenged because they know their man can be a woman and vice versa is 100% shit and they'd be shot down in flames at every turn. Kudos to Julie and to the LGB Alliance. ❤

      Well said. I'm another gay man. I much prefer to avoid social media and all of this nonsense, but it's rather difficult. This rainbow nonsense and alphabet soup garbage never represented me, and, innocently enough, until a few years ago, I'd assumed the distinction between gay people and 'that lot' was perfectly obvious. I now challenge this nonsense at every opportunity.

      Bindel believes being a lesbian is a choice that all hetero women should make für their health, I'm not twisting that at all.
      It's so interesting watching bigots agree with each other and hiding their differences from each other.

    It’s going to be very tempting for a lot of people to become single issue voters at least until the trans activists stop the bullying.

    • @jeffswingdancer8302

      People in society must stand up. A significant number of the activists have cluster B personality disorders and there is no way they will stop on their own initiative. Because so many people are afraid to stand up to them, we are experiencing the tyranny of the minority.

      The trans issue is singular in that you could vote for a party that has a major policy that you disagree with, if you find the majority of their policies preferable to those of the alternatives parties. With trans, it boils down to whether a party will espouse that which they know to be patently and inarguably untrue, to the detriment of the electorate, with a straight face AND admonish those who do speak the truth. It is frightening that Starmer could be PM having said that it's 'not right' to say only a woman can have a cervix. Sadiq Khan has suggested it endangers people to ask whether women can have a penis. This is dark behaviour. Labour has shown it is prepared to try to suppress discussion of it's position and why? Because they know the positions are unsupportable.

      Bindel literally believes all women should "choose" being gay, she calls this "political lesbian", which is how she classifies herself.
      Someone that confused about sexuality becoming celebrated by fascists and mannists is a sight to see.

      Audre Lorde, May Ayim, Angela Davis are all the leading names of contemporary feminisms. All black. Fighting for migrants, the imprisoned, and the poor. You've been duped by conservatives.
      Bindel, who is white, is transphobic, racist, and tells straight women that they should be "political lesbians" like her is not really a feminist. She just has some popular bigoted opinions and other bigots with more power (see MAGA) can point to her and say "look even feminists agree".
      Bindel is the definition of a minstrel.

Two souls discussing the reality of the 'human condition' and it's contradictions and how we see things both as individuals and as a society. Both matter! Michael Foran (who I have never heard of before) and Julie Bindel who I have admired for decades for her sincerity and focus on suffering reduction both learning from each others perspective and showing mutual respect and even admiration.. A RARE soulful treat!

      Bindel stole that line from Audre Lorde who famously opposed TERFs and even mentions "misnaming" of black trans women in the speech itself.

    As a Scottish Unionist, I just hate the way the SNP have appropriated Saint Andrew's saltire, which should be the symbol of Scotland, to represent their political Party.🙄

    • @shelleyphilcox4743
      @shelleyphilcox4743 10 місяців тому +5

      @marieparker3822 On the contrary, do not cede the Saltire or allow a political entity to claim it. Continue to fly your flag because it represents people of Scotland and is above party politics. It is the symbol of history, culture and unity that transcends politics and everything else. Sadly, the St George's cross has been associated with party politics and was not properly defended as a symbol of unity for everyone, which was a grave mistake. Your Saltire is yours, all of you living in Scotland, not just the SNPs.

    • @mikesecondname
      @mikesecondname 10 місяців тому +2

      Me too Marie, I hate that the St George’s cross and even the Union Jack is just associated with vague and nebulous racism (without me being a football hooligan or a racist). I’m ethnically half Scottish but was born and raised in England (I’m from the Logan’s. The Scottish Jamie Logan, fire chief and toy maker 😊) and it has always bothered me that people like Ian Blackfoot hates me just because I’m English. I’ve always been one to say it’s up to the Scottish on the referendum but didn’t want Scotland to leave the union. So I guess I’m a unionist too. It’s nice to hear it from a Scottish person. It’s also pretty rare to get an SNP activist who can even talk about things like the Barnett formula or the tax issues in Scotland. I’ve spoken to too many SNP activists and voters who just blame Westminster without actually thinking what or why their problems exist.
      Phew, anyways that was a really big way to say, cool, I’m an English pro unionist, ‘sensible centrist’ too and it’s nice to see another person who doesn’t want complete devolution of the British isles.

      SNP have a yellow background and black lettering, no saltire in their logo. When people who support independence go on demos/marches, they fly the flag of the country that they wish to be independent, others of differing views can still utilise the saltire..
      Re GRA reform I did not then and do not now support SNP collective stance on self I.d. and in fact, would like to see GR and equality acts reviewed and clarified to reflect the fact that Sex Matters, despite what people identify or present as, for the rights of females.

    • @scotswumin5502
      @scotswumin5502 5 місяців тому

      @shelleyphilcox4743 many Scottish citizens wish to dissociate from the Union flag for a lot of reasons - I've seen the flag of St George held high on independence marches alongside the St Andrews saltire. These are representative of, at the very least, disaffected individuals with (amongst other issues) governance, from Westminster, bias from media outlets and empire association . On the subject of gender reform and sex based rights for women, all the Scottish based parties and SNP with exception of Alba it seems, appear to have fallen under the spell of trans activist narratives. I realise I'm coming into this discussion now at a time of general election on 4th July in UK, but any party that does not respect my sex should not expect my X

      I would not just prefer, but absolutely believe we need to repeal the GRA 2004. The act makes a fiction into law (similar to blasphemy laws, it privileges an ideology over biological facts). No one can change their biological sex so it is wrong to allow someone to change the biological sex recorded on their birth certificate. Thus, it allows for other laws and prescendents to set (pronouns, women being described as mentruators cervix havers, birthing parent). Note that this affects females more than men.

    • @miriamlana833
      @miriamlana833 10 місяців тому +2

      @@AngelaHavey if you want to make a legal sex change absolute impossible you have at first to specify "biological sex" in laws, which was yet done nowhere around the world. Otherwise you will have a flood of lawsuits for each and eyery case when someone says their sex was assigned wrong at birth. Simply saying "the sex of a person is the sex recorded at birth" does only work in authoritarian states like Hungary and Russia. Do you want the UK to become some only for that topic?
      I think "biolocical sex" is generally not specifyable in laws without making arbitrary assumptions, also has then to happen a new categorization of some cis people against their will.

      What do you personally want as a legal "sex divider", only the chromosomes? Other sex characteristics shouldn`t count? Good luck with the thousands of lawsuits which will follow that.
      The present sex assignment at birth is also arbitrary in that way, looks only at the genitals and then assigns (or has problems with that when they are ambiguous), it worked in a time before physical transition was possible, the GRA is only kind of after-correction of that.

    This was an amazing interview. I think Michael is a sort of good representative of where a lot of us men had been and what we were thinking. Feminism needs to remain a core principle, it can't diverge into the silliness and pettiness that it had devolved into over the last decade or so.

      Being forced to share bathrooms, showers,or safe spaces with men is not okay for any woman of any faith or no faith! Who commits most of our assukts, sexual assaults, crimes and murders against women and other men in any country; its men!
      That men are the ones that act out with violent nature's in society is a statistical fact! Assuming it's safe to allow this statistically dangerous sex to be allowed in our settings where women and children are most vulnerable is pure maddness! It is proven to be unsafe! The evidence men are prone to be dangerous to females us recorded and goes back thousands of years!

      That depends upon the family.
      I just want women's bathrooms to remain exclusive and as safe as they can be for women and girls.
      Instead it's all become a crazy problem.

    Julie Bindel is a joy. She is a very serious woman, with very serious interests and opinions, whose charming personality is her biggest weapon when she takes up cudgels against those who seek to frustrate her political campaigns. Those who sit in the House of Commons would do well to emulate her combination of integrity and humour.

    It seems to me we all live in society together and everything we do has an effect on shaping that society, and affecting us all, sometimes in the same way and sometimea different. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, should listen fairly to each other, the issue being it should not be that anyone has disproportionate or unfair advantage or power in shaping that society, and an acknowledgement that where a particular group are disproportionately affected, there might need to be an agreed 'weighting' of the voice from those most negatively affected to achieve fairness.

    • @GlasPthalocyanine
      @GlasPthalocyanine 10 місяців тому

      Yes, but isn't that how we got into this mess? How do you quantify who is disproportionately affected? How do you 'weight' that? The weighting (in a democracy) is the majority. The majority of women are working-class, straight, mothers, probably grandmothers in an aging population . They don't owe their right to political representation to any other group that *claims* disadvantage. This is the fundamental flaw of minority identity activism and grievance politics. They don't actually want a fairer society where everyone is liberated from all kinds of oppression. Their goal has nothing to do with "social justice". They only seek to reconstruct oppression differently.

    Comically, the discussion starts from a viewpoint that you are correct, and those who don't agree are wrong.
    You end up with a discussion on how can we work with these wrong cultures.
