my class didn't even do anything, we all thought it was a joke
the teacher didn't even do anything, too
so we all just sat there, on those crappy school computers

and then the lockdown was lifted
later, we learned that it was an actual lockdown
and it wasn't an actual gunshot, it was something about a car?? ((i think they said the car locked up. i'm not sure, the brain has funny ways of filling in empty spaces))

since all the other lockdown's were pretty chill, and it was just practice

Tbh, u get use to it after a while. We go through what to do if we see the active shooter in the halls to notify the entire school, where to hide and how to hide, how to break windows. How to barricade doors, how to turn your scissors , pencils, belts, anything into a weapon. We learned how to swarm. Proper form for jumping out windows, how to run. Where to hide his gun if we managed to get it out of his grasp. We have assigned roles for who will be the people in the front to attack first.

I think that, if I recall correctly, they decided to write about a school shooting because one had taken place not long ago or right after they had the melody written

this is like post school shooting, the entire school is quiet and the shooter is standing there thinking about what they did
Personally I feel this song represents an inner conflict in the would be shooters head. Starting soft, amping up and suddenly calming again. I like to imagine the shooters having second thoughts right before. They'd brought the gun out near the end of the song and the class is panicking and for just a moment the shooter feels empowered by that fear, until all at once their illusion fades and they realize just what it was that they were doing. The music slows as they realize they'd already stepped to far. They had to shoot. So they did. Only, they shot themself, instead

the original is about a school shooter this version seems like a memoir or note left by the shooter before they went to the school . In a way it was a warning to the students even though they would never see it .
i feel like the original is during the shooting when the shooter is too blinded by anger to even notice how horrible what they've done is, and this verion is after the shooting while they're now sitting in the back of a cop car and regretting everything

I feel like this version has a story
She is his younger sister, and has been watching him finding the gun and experimenting with it over some time now. She realises her dad doesnt care about them, leaving his cigarettes laying around that her brother secretly takes and brings to school. She notices him getting more angry and she is always on edge, until one day he snaps at dinner, and runs upstairs. She gets out of the house, but has to leave her dad, because he is sleeping drunkenly on the couch. She runs as fast as she can, in her shoes, the only gift he had ever given her. She heard gun shots behind her, but she cant stop. She runs to her friends house, and stays the night. The next day they are rushed of to school, and she sees him going into his class with an extra large backpack. She goes to her own class, and sits there, quietly crying, waiting for the inevitable. Suddenly, it happens. The lights go out, and everyone looks around. They hear gunshots, and distant screaming, and the teacher makes everyone lock up and barricade the door, and hide under the desks. She sits there, humming the eerie song she made to the tune her mom sang to her when she was little,her friend crying at her shoulder. All is quiet, when they see a shadow outside the door, and a loud click.

The origional song was made because one of the giys neices was in colimbine. She didnt die tho
concept: this is sung by the friend of a school shooter. he knew said shooter had a bad home life, and was frequently bullied by other classmates. but he never had told anyone as he didn't want to seem like he was butting in. over the days he notices his friend becoming more hostile, and rude. he tries to calm down his friend but none of his attempts have worked
and then when his friend is like " stay home from school tmrw " and he doesn't, thinking his friend is joking. but alas he was not joking. the song takes place when the kid is talking to a therapist about the event, and talking to a police officer. The kid feels guilty, as if he could've stopped his friend. at the "oooaaaa" part he is upset about the amount of dead students. (if I decide to animate this it'd most likely show the students as angels singing that part)

As a pianist, I gotta say this is absolutely amazing. Many musicians struggle to find the ‘emotion’ of a song and play accordingly, but you have mastered this and it makes the song sound magical. Keep creating, musician!

The chords are: C#, G# Min. (I think), F min (again, I think), and G
The chords are broken up in a way that to play with the song you play the outline of the chord and add the middle note a half beat after
For example:
1 And
Outline Middle
Each chord goes for 4 beats
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and
And then there’s also a transition note. The left hand is playing normal bass notes (outline of the right chord) but on the and of 4 it goes to a A sharp for C#, a G for F minor, and there’s no transitions after that (at least in the beginning of the song)
I’m working on a video tutorial and I’ll link that here (not to take credit for the song obviously) but once that’s up it should be easier to understand.

I was playing this song at different speeds and I thought that it would make for a good story. Before I write it though, I just want to say that the harmonies at 1:59 are AMAZING!
Anyways, here it is:
0.75x speed: You are hiding in a classroom. You can hear screams and people crying outside. Your best friend's mental state has been slowly degrading over the past few months. You didn't notice. They told you to stay home today. You didn't listen.
1.25x speed: You hear the yelling of a person rapidly approaching the room. The door shakes as someone starts pounding on the door.
1.5x speed: They are crying and yelling to be let inside of the classroom you're in and they knock frantically at the door. You hear them cry out as a gunshot sounds.
1.75x speed: The shooter breaks down the classroom door and begins shooting as people jump up from under their desks to sprint for their lives.
2x speed: You run down a hallway in a panicked crowd of screaming people. You do your best to dodge bullets and falling bodies.
0.5x speed: You hide in a janitors closet, listening to what's happening outside. The number of screams slowly dwindles down. After a while you hear nothing except for the eerie echoes of the shooter's footsteps coming towards your closet.
0.25x speed: You've been shot and left in a bloody hallway by your...best..friend? You don't really register what's happening anymore. Your vision blurs...where are you? What's....going..on..? Why.....

Here’s how I imagine this
The school jock and the weird kid we’re friends in elementary and middle school, but in high school the jock leaves the weird kid to be popular, leaving the weird kid alone and without any friends. The weird kid is blinded by rage for his high school years, and in senior year, the day before graduation, out of pure spite and longing for revenge, shoots up the school. He leaves a note in the jock’s locker with the lyrics of this song. The jock, after seeing his teachers, classmates, and friends die in the shooting, is driven insane. He is put in a mental institution. He repeats the words of the note over and over again, along with the words the weird kid screamed into the hallways during the shooting. “You better run”, “outrun my gun” and “you better hope you can run faster than my bullets.” The jock tells the other people in the institution about the shooting and the note. One of the other members of the institution, after getting out, peruses a career in music, using the jock’s story as the lyrics to his hit song.

someone brought a gun to school. they were the naturally quiet kid, the kid most people thought of as weird without even talking to them. little did they know he had been suicidal, and he heard the rumors daily that were passed as the words he spread to fake friends got twisted around and round. someone somehow found the gun. the principal came in and searched bookbags, despite the kid who found the guns plea that it was the quiet kid. the quiet kid gets sent to the office. he says this, mocking the fact that they're saying he was gonna shoot up the school.

You hear as everyone is screaming and rushing out of their classrooms. While running out of your classroom you realize that you should grab your phone so you re-enter the classroom. You search frantically for your backpack. “Hurry!”,your best friend says while he’s waiting for you. “Just go outside without me I’ll be there in a second.” Your friend hesitates but leaves. “Oh yeah my phone is in my teachers desk” you run to the front of the class hoping it’s not to late. “Yes!” You run out of your classroom but then hear banging along the lockers so you run into the boys locker room. You search for your phone in need of texting your mom and dad. “i love you” you text both of them. The door suddenly opens but you hear your ringer go off on your phone. You continue to hear the banging on the lockers as the noise gets closer and closer. Then someone spots you. It’s not a male. She looks at you while pointing a gun but then comes to a stop when she sees your face. “just do it, pull the trigger”, you say. She shakes her head implying no. Then you see a hand reach out towards you. Should I grab it? you think. You reach out but hesitate. You pull through. She takes you into the bathroom and she takes off her mask. “you are keeping me aren’t you” you ask her. “maybe” she replies. “I think I’m in love, never mind but we have to get out of here” she says.

It's so obvious how much work you put in for these covers. You have to have an amazing music background, or at least be very very talented. Even after a couple years of music theory and instrument/singing training, there's no way I could pull something like this of and have it sound so cohesive. I am thoroughly impressed, on both a theory and general music context, not to mention all of the emotion you end up putting in to these covers. I am very upset that it took this long for me to get a cover by you recommended to me, but I have now listened to them all. They are amazing, you are amazing, and you deserve so much credit for all of these
to make the topic a little lighter, here is a funny story of how my grandmother accidentally caused a school lockdown:
i was in elementary school (can’t remember the grade) and my nanny had come to pick me and my siblings up for something. she did not know that she had to walk into the front desk (this was before the school implemented these key cards where only staff can get into the school). so, there’s this little old lady walking around an elementary school with no idea what’s going on. i don’t remember the rest of it, but i do remember her causing the school to lock down.
