    Hey soladeck you guys rock. It’s true your soladeck roof box has proven its greatness. Here in N California we standardized this great box (*with incorporated roof flashing). ....for most asphalt shingle installations and some flat tile( with secondary flashing underneath). But seriously your product is nearly perfect. Multiple hundreds installed. 0h yah.....Please move the interior upper romex concentric knockouts down about 1/4”.

    I find that lifting the shingles first with the flat bar then cutting your shingles with large scissors takes about half the time. In my opinion you should dress those nail holes you pulled out with roof mastic and the entire bottom of the metal flashing under the shingles with mastic as well. Very clean electric work, great demonstration. Thank you.

    Do you ever have to use conduit over the mc4 panel wires in order to prevent mice or squirrel chewing through the mc4 cable sheathing🤔

    Great video and use of different angles to show every detail.
    I'm curious about the step bit. Wouldn't a knockout set leave a better hole? At least that's what we used to use.

      Thanks, Don
      Absolutely. A knockout kits will work as well but you may find it cumbersome given the depth of the box. Now most often a step bit can be acquired readily or already carried with an installer’s tool vs a knockout kit isn’t.

    what did you use to mount that 6x6 gray junction box to the rail? You called them "chiclets" or "k-nuts?" This is at 29:05

    How far back are the PV panels from the 2 foot overhang ?
    Thank you for the videos.

      Sorry for the delay. Great question. Setback around the perimeter of the roof should generally be 12". You want to consider if you're too close the the eaves edge, the rain will shoot off the solar panels and miss the eavestrough. Other consideration are cleaning the panels and access. Always leave yourself enough room to navigate safely while maximizing the solar production.

    Can you connect emt to the bottom of the soladeck through the roof eave?

    • @raysolarmadeeasy
      @raysolarmadeeasy  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely you could. You either need to bend your EMT for the offset required or transition from EMT to flexible conduit to make a proper connection. Dont forget to consider bonding methods for your jurisdiction!

      The wire in x flex tube going from the soladeck device appears to be laying on the roof, should not be raised up off the roof by 7/8”?

      Hello Joe, You could have that option depending on your particular installation requirements.

      Wir sind uns nicht sicher, was Sie meinen und warum Sie es für teuer halten. Dies ist eine ordnungsgemäße und übliche Installation. Vielen Dank fürs Einschalten.( We are unsure what you mean and why you feel it's expensive. This is a proper and common installation. Thank you for tuning in.)
