Thanks for taking the extra time to make this very informative video! Great tips I will certainly use. I agree, as the homeowner i can take my time and do a quality installation using the IronRidge products.
Great video! I'm considering solar panels but my roof is 19 years old with quality lifetime shingles and it looks better than yours. I have 2 site surveys coming in soon and an independent roof evaluation tomorrow.
Dont use Henry's ever for Solar Its a consumer product M1 is a structural roofing sealant that can even bond in slightly moist environments. Have fixed Henry's related leaks far too often Henry's also gets brittle after 7-10 yrs. Horse Show of sealant on the flashing helps weep any condensed moisture, seals any deformation of the flashing. fill hole with a squeeze and leave a paddy of sealant over the hole for the lag to drag into the rafter. that's a lifetime sealed mount.
Thanks, I couldn't find a video that showed me certain things. So, it's a bit long and boring, but to the right person, it's the right video. Good luck.
Not sure how many years of life that tab shingle roof has left on it, looks pretty worn. Probably would have been a candidate to re-roof before mounting the rails.
This roof was for sure a candidate to to be replaced before installing solar, I guess its a good way to make the client call you back after 2 years to remove the panels and reinstall them again, "repeat client" Lol.🤑
@jybuis3939 yes for sure needs a new roof, but there was for sure 3 years life left it it. i wanted to build a carport and put the solar on that. But at the time I was trying to beat the net metering changes that were happening. So I am currently building my carport, then going to move the solar over, then do my roof. At the time, i didnt have the carport, I didn't have the time or money to do my roof, which ima do myself. Sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't hard at all. Just time consuming. But I get my kids involved in all these projects which is great.
Flashing feet suck! A lot more invasive and take exponentially longer to install. There are far better options that more than make up their increased cost in their labor savings. Then of course, you also do much less potential harm to the roof
Thank you. I'll be installing 8 panels on 14ft XR1000 rails in a few days. This was very useful. Cheers.

Nice job. Gives me confidence to DIY. ❤❤❤
That was great information, thank you. I've got a shed that needs 750 wats of craiglist panels.

Awsome presentation. Thank you, sir😊
2:10 isn't the white line the edge of the roof rafter? Do you need to move it over to the left by 3/4" to the center of the stud?
Never mind, I rewatched at 1:50, the tool is calibrated to find the center of the stud! Amazing!

When they installed my solar they missed the stud I’m trying to get them back to my home to fix it
Great info!

good work!
I'm glad it helped. It's a long boring one, but I wanted to share info i didn't find anywhere else. Take care.

Examples please?
