I lost my husband of 9 years, to covid in 2021. He was my love, and second marriage. I had such anger at how he died and still do, but am trying to find peace. A week before he got sick, I stood out in the back yard, and started to cry, and said out loud to myself "I'm going to be alone here". Our souls knew..I miss Chris, and can't wait to see him again!

Oh angelsdragonfly -- My heart goes out to you for this very sad loss. Especially for the feelings of anger around it all, and the feeling of not enough time with your true love! Sending prayers for peace and healing -- and patience for the process. Such a tough road. May you feel the love you shared together still alive in your heart, and find some comfort in that. Love and blessings! ~Chara

I’ve been watching your channel for almost 6 months since my bf which was gonna be my husband one day passed away. I’m struggling everyday without him but my soul feels connected still, stronger I feel. I know he’s waiting for me and I know it’s not a goodbye. The depth of our love caused us to be telepathic while he was alive so I know when I get to him will be together ♥️

It warms my heart that you have the confidence that you WILL be reunited with your husband -- and my heart goes out to you as you wait for that joyful time. And yes, Swedenborg thought the Bible was our most important link to God -- his spiritual experiences did not REPLACE the Bible, they just provided some more information about our spiritual path! And he claims that every single experience was guided by Jesus Christ alone. Quite a claim! Happy to have you with us, and blessings to you on your continued spiritual journey!

True I knew there are marriages in heaven but I was blind to that truth cause I've been searching to make sure that what I knew about marriages being eternal in heaven was true and let's just say it took me a while and some frustration because people were lieng about marriages not being in heaven although there is. But then I came across to this video and helped me. I'll save this video. Also I realized that if God said there's no marriages in heaven then his marriage wouldn't be in heaven either. I think people really need to stop taking the scriptures in the bible literally since there's figurative language. I never took it literally because I knew that ungodly marriages don't enter the kingdom of God but only Godly marriages enter the kingdom of God and look the marriage of Christ is a Godly marriage. Therefore, I wasn't wrong about marriages being eternal in heaven it's just people are having a misunderstanding about the scripture by taking it literally and thinking that marriages aren't eternal in heaven when in reality they are.❤❤

Swedenborg has answered this long awaited question for me! For years as a pastor and a Bible student I knew there was marriage in heaven. I just knew it, but couldn't find anyone to help me understand Jesus' words about it. It took years, but it was worth the wait! I first realized there was marriage in heaven when my brother first came to my church where I was pastoring. He never went to church before, but he came one night after my grandpa, who was also my pastor, died. I stepped in my grandpa's shoes and started to pastor the church, then my brother came in so full of grief. We prayed with him till 1 o'clock in the morning. He had a great experience with God! He felt so washed and clean, then he opened his eyes and saw two female spirit beings. He said they were so beautiful. When they started to distract him, they disappeared. I didn't even believe in female angels or spirit beings until that night, even though my grandpa knew there were female angels. When I thought about my brother's experience I realized there is also marriage in heaven, but didn't know how to explain Jesus' words on marriage and the resurrection until God lead me to Swedenborg. I'm grateful everyday for you guys.
I've found that ultimately, if God doesn't give it to you, you're not going to believe it.

Gavin, thanks so much for sharing the story of your journey on this topic. Powerful! I think it's something a lot of people experience a kind of cognitive dissonance about, being taught there's no marriage in heaven, but having a different feeling or intuition about it. So glad God led you to these teachings that feel like a better fit for you! Yes, a change of heart/belief/way of thinking DOES seem to be a gift from God! Thanks for being here!

Years after my mom passed away I had 3 very real dreams of my mom. In all three my mom was young & beautiful as she was in her 30s or 40s. In one dream it took place at my grandmother's house where we went alot when I was young with my mom. In my dream my mom showed up & we knew she had passed away. But she came in so happy saying she came to tell us she was getting married. In each dream I never saw her so happy & beautiful. In another dream it was a phone call she made to me. Always telling me how happy she was. In my third dream my mom was standing at the top of white stairs wearing a white pleated dress with a gold , rope belt. She was walking down the stairs to me smiling & looking so beautiful. What does it mean that she was getting married??? P.s. I did listen & now know my mom was being excepted by the Lord. Gaining entrance to heaven. Thank you❤️🙏

My love passed away unexpectedly last June 6 months shy of his 50th birthday which we wanted to celebrate in Hawaii together with our children. We had no reason to anticipate his passing however he and I experienced some immensely profound occurrences during the 10 days leading up to our last moments together. We never before spoke of what we would want for our funeral which we assumed to be many years away. However we shared beautiful moments leading up, Nick purchased the film Ghost for me many months prior and it happened as we turned on the TV on this particular evening the film was halfway through so Nick suggested we watch it from the beginning on DVD, I agreed. During the credits and through tears Nick looked into my eyes and lovingly said you better not go before me which I replied Ditto..😭😭 Being silly. Days passed and we shared our songs for one another that we would dedicate and honour our love. The day prior to his passing we were sharing a beautiful moment together, all I can say is that I believe our souls knew what was to occur a mere 24 hours later but our human selves didn’t quite get the hint. I am ever so grateful for those moments which are etched into my heart forever. At the same time it’s difficult because in a way I feel we brought death into our space by talking about it. 😭

Intuitive Life, this is such a touching story of a kind of preparation - unbeknownst as it was - for what was to come for you and your husband. Such rich memories to tuck into your heart until you are joyfully reunited!
I am of the opinion that you did not bring death on yourselves just by talking about it. Death is part of the life-cycle, and our time of death is meticulously overseen by God. To me, it sounds like God was storing up grain for the winter, so to speak, filling your heart with moments of deep connection to be cherished in his absence.
For now, your individual journeys are taking place in separate realms, but your SPIRITS still dwell together. May you feel that with each warm memory, each sight of something he gave you, each activity you do now that you used to enjoy sharing together. Love is REAL, and it LASTS, and it will draw you together again.
There are many shows on our channel about the afterlife, if you'd like to explore. Or let us know if there's a particular topic you're interested in, and we could suggest a few, to help give you comfort and hope. Much love to you as you navigate this new phase in your relationship!

My heart goes out to you for his sudden departure, Michelle -- such a shock and a heartache. As you may know, our channel is based on Emanuel Swedenborg's spiritual experiences and writings, and he learned that married couples DO meet again in the next life. Love is more real than anything, and if you two shared a soulmate kind of love, that will draw you together on the other side, like a force of spiritual magnetism. In the spiritual world, "thought brings presence, and love brings union." So your thinking about each other and loving each other will certainly create a reunion! Something lovely to anticipate... Before saying something, like thinking before speaking as to not offend others. But I'm getting that God knows us to the "T" and knows how to deal with us individually. And that's comforting to know for me. When I get overwhelmed I tend to want be somewhere where I can think without outside influence. Because I can sense and feel the energy of others. It's actually pretty easy to think of a deepening of their marriage love forever when you think of your own marriage. Well, as long as you and your spouse are both truly happy with your marriage anyway. I know that as the years went by, we both talked about how our love for each other was so much more, so much deeper than it had been when we were first married. It literally does deepen even here in our physical bodies so of course it will continue to deepen in our spiritual or angelic bodies.
I already know that my husband and I will be parents in Heaven and will probably have something to do with dogs and cats as my husband loved kids and loved dogs and cats. Every child that ever met him liked him within a very short time as he loved making them laugh. He was like that with all children, not just our own. Curtis, you knocked it out of the ball park with this presentation! I lost my beloved, and beautiful bride, over 26 years ago, who past from breast cancer. My daily tears of grief are a combination of the suffering that my loving bride endured, during her battle with cancer, combined with the fact that, as her husband and supposed 'protector', I was powerless stop her pain and suffering. With all her pain her courage, and ability to find humor in everything was something to behold, nonetheless! She used to say, "Honey you KNOW that there is no conjugal rights in Heaven, don't you?"..My reply to her was, "I told you before,..... you just give me 15 minutes in Jesus' office, I am quite sure that I will get that matter straightened out quite nicely"! She would just laugh!
Your timely subject of marriage, came as a god-send to me today, because my night, last night, was one of endless hours spent in tears, FEARING that I would never be with her EVER again, in a blissful way. She was a DEEPLY spiritual lady, with ALL of her four male family members being Ministers in the Church of Christ, and thus, she grew up with a SOLID Christian foundation that she shared freely with all those desiring enlightenment. Thanks to my restored hope that we will, once again, be reunited FOREVER, I now have the faith that I can go through my remaining days with a confidence that Swedenborg's words will DEFINITELY hold true! Thanks again, Curtis!

I’m glad there are no marriages in heaven, after being fleeced by two divorce settlements! 😜 In all seriousness when you love someone that love never dies, I still love my ex’s, & care about them. It amazes me when people say ”I don't love you anymore” they probably never loved that person in the first place, it was more likely to have been infatuation. For us to evolve spiritually we need to learn to love everyone. ❤️

And I think that's so powerful that you still have love for your exes! I agree with you - just because something didn't work out doesn't mean we can't still hold a special place in our hearts for those people and those experiences! I so agree and love hearing your thoughts about love.
Much better to be grateful for what we gained and proud of our courage to try to love someone! It's not easy and it's always worth the try. No effort to love is ever wasted. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insights with us!

Thank you for this episode. I have so many thoughts and feelings! It seems like culturally we are moving away from the idea of marriage being the ultimate goal of relationships. I wonder how that cultural shift effects us individually on a spiritual level. I guess I'm struggling with what our relationships mean here on earth if they fail, or if we betray someone, or someone betrays us. I guess the meaning is in what we learn from the experiences. It's just sad because you can feel like you've met the person that you want to marry, but then you find down the road that the relationship isn't what you thought it was.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +2

Hi Carrie, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I can relate to that struggle - wondering what our relationships mean, how to trust after being hurt or betrayed - where to put our hearts and effort. Every situation is different, and of course I don't know what you've been through and don't pretend to!
But I agree that we can learn a great deal from every interaction, and every relationship, no matter whether it continues or ends. I believe that loving another person, whether you stay together or not, is never wrong. It's always courageous to open your heart to someone else, and even if the relationship ends we can move forward but still wish the absolute best for that person in our hearts, and always try to wish them well. There's no shame in trusting and loving someone, though I know sometimes I have learned the hard way when someone truly respects my trust and love, and have become more discerning about where I offer it! Anyway, those are some thoughts from me, what do you think, Carrie?

The way the lord funnels love through the mind, body, and soul also reflects at least on a biological and neurological perspective how neurons carry information back and forth between our brain and pain receptors within organs. I think people in the blissful state of true love that obtain all three parts, especially the physical, are truly blessed. People also find compatibilities with partners in some aspects of these components but fail in others. Psychology plays a useful part in balancing the mind and body in this respect. I wonder if the lord still sends this love to us in this world if we commit adultery during the marriage or even if having done so and have never been married. Although I believe the scriptures have been misinterpreted by humans in this aspect. Also, what about people with incompatibilities such as being on the Asperger's spectrum through which they find it difficult to fit in with the conventional system of the society of their generation based on their neurology or with other types of disabilities such as physiological or sensory impairment through which they are unable or find difficult to find a partner, does the lord then only provide a partner for them in the afterlife?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  2 роки тому +1

Such a complex topic, Murtaza. Yes, it seems like we don't all get a fair chance in this life for a satisfying partnership -- for SO many reasons. But Swedenborg asserted that we WILL all have a loving partnership in the other world, when we are beyond physical bodies and neurons and biology, and living in a world of SPIRIT -- what we love, what we think, what we believe, how we want to serve. I guess we won't really know how it all plays out till we get there! In the meantime, we can all work on BEING the best partner we can be, whether we're in a relationship or not. Turn away from dark and self-centered inclinations, and turn towards generous goodness, whenever possible. That's what will turn us into a loving partner!

Why are so many articles related to marriage in Heaven addressed to happily married couples and especially to widows, and not to singles who fear missing out? And why are so many comments from married couples and widows, and not from singles who fear missing out?

I'm sorry you're feeling this fear of missing out, WQ. Swedenborg asserts that there is a partner for EVERYONE on the other side, because partnership/marriage represents or corresponds to the union of divine love and wisdom in God. Also, here's a discussion we did on that verse from Matthew -- Swedenborg learned that the Bible's deeper spiritual meaning is often veiled over by a misleading literal sense. Sex can be bad as it can be done out of ego and to take pleasure for oneself. But it can also be done out of love and to perpetuate life. ...And how could that ever be evil or impure?
This is just my opinion, but as far as i am concerned, it's one of the points where I have the least trouble thinking Swedenborg is right. Like many things, sex can either be a virtue or a sin depending on intent and circumstances. And it just makes logical sense that the "virtue" part of it would have its place in Heaven.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +1

Hyakkidour4n, what did Swedenborg say about sex that doesn't resonate with you? From my reading of Swedenborg, it seems he values sex as a powerful spiritual experience, when done between two people who love each other and want to share their joy! He even says we continue to have sex in the afterlife - and it seems it's even better in heaven than it was here, like all things, I guess!
As you rightly point out, sex can also be done from ego - for one's own pleasure, to dominate or hurt others, or from a place of selfishness. That is NOT spiritual sex, and has no place in heaven. Any trace of that perspective cannot exist in heaven, which is a place of love and truth. Swedenborg is very critical of these kind of interactions.
In the afterlife, Swedenborg says we have "spiritual offspring," so while there is a reproductive element of spiritual sexuality, it multiplies spiritual effects instead of physical.
Here are some passages from Swedenborg's book, "Conjugial Love" or sometimes translated "Married Love," that you may find interesting. FYI, when Swedenborg says "conjugial," this is not the same as "conjugal," although they have the same Latin roots! And "chaste" here feels dated but I take it to mean respectful and innocent - it's not meant to feel shamey, which is my first instinct when I see it!
#44: "...But the angels have this love of the sex because they have only [true married] love, and this cannot co-exist with the unchaste love of the sex. Love truly conjugial is a chaste love, and has nothing in common with unchaste love. It is with one only of the sex, all others being removed; for it is a love of the spirit and thence of the body, and not a love of the body and thence of the spirit. That is, it is not a love that infests the spirit.'
(Angels were asked if love in heaven is like that on earth); 'They are altogether similar, but far more blessed, because the perception and sensation of the angels is far more exquisite than human perception and sensation. And what life has that love unless from a vein of potency? If this fails does not that love diminish and grow cold? And is not that vigor the very measure, the very degree, and the very basis of that love? Is it not the beginning, the foundation, and the complement of it? It is a universal law that first things exist, subsist, and endure from the last. And so it is also with this love. If then there were no ultimate delights, there would be no delights of conjugial love.'
CL 44: [An Angel explains to newcomers in the afterlife] 'That there are no natural offspring, but spiritual offspring.'
And they asked, 'What are spiritual offspring?' They answered:
'Through ultimate delights married partners are the more united in the marriage of good and truth, and the marriage of good and truth is the marriage of love and wisdom; and love and wisdom are the offspring which are born of that marriage. ...no other than spiritual offspring can be conceived and born there. Hence it is that the angels do not become sad after the delights, as some do on earth, but cheerful. And this comes of the perpetual inflowing of fresh powers succeeding the former, which renew and at the same time illustrate them; for all who come into heaven return into the springtime of their youth, and into the vigor of that age, and remain so to eternity.'
Partners in a marriage represent the duality of God, which is love and wisdom, and are united spiritually. Therefore, they continue to create spiritual results from their union. Does that make sense? Let me know what you think!

Our channel is based on "revelations" received by Emanuel Swedenborg, so I can just say that Swedenborg seemed pretty low key about that. He said that people who have been married on earth will meet again, and they'll realize whether or not they are genuine spiritual partners, and if not, they'll move on and find their true partner. To me, it sounds like it's going to work out in everyone's best interests.

The fact that people took Jesus's response to the Pharisees as a clear-cut indication of marriage in Heaven shows that they just needed to look deeper into what Jesus meant by that. Just like all of Jesus's responses are in accordance with who is asking the question and the question they are asking, this too needs to be understood within the context of how the Pharisees were trying to trip up Jesus with regards to Old Testament laws regarding Yibbum.

    Hi
My child's father passed suddenly in a car accident a month ago today. I have had so many emotions since and your videos have helped me. I wanted to know what you thought about our story. So I'll keep it brief but basically we clicked right away in 2015. Our connection led me to do research to which I found the term Twin Flame. I fully believed that. Fast forward we went through some trials to which some wouldn't be resolved and it seemed like we couldn't quite see eye to eye. We got pregnant in 2020 and now have a son. He passed weeks before our son's first birthday. I normally would be very self destructive due to stress but I cannot do that as I now have a baby. I have been getting signs from him, especially the week after he passed. I also had a dream about him. We were not dating before he passed because I did not want to go through any more patterns, I wanted to move on healthily if we were to do so together. So he was dating someone. But I feel and others have told me that he wanted to be with me. I feel such guilt and wish I could've been more forgiving and in that I'm thinking the story would've unfolded differently and he would not have passed on that day....I guess I'm hoping he's waiting for me...for us, me and our son. Is that possible? His mother says we were too much alike and I think that may have been the case too. Sorry if this is all over. I have been watching your videos every night to get some hope.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  2 роки тому +1

Hi K D. You have been through so much, and my heart aches for you! To lose your twin flame when your baby is so little, and when there is so much unresolved between you two, must be very difficult.
I can't know for sure whether you two were meant to be, but I have always believed we should trust our instincts! I also believe that you will see each other again, and have the opportunity to resolve these things one day in the spiritual world. It seems very likely that he is still with you and always will be, since you clearly did love each other, and you share a son. I think you will always be connected.
Swedenborg believed we see our former partners in the next life and work through things, reconnect, talk about our lives, and see if the spark is still there. See this episode about couples who meet after death: ua-cam.com/video/V_iEjrqEA9s/v-deo.html (The episode is about married partners, but think of marriage as "serious relationship," or anyone with history, as you two clearly had!).
I also want to say that even if you two are meant for each other, you still have every right to find love in this world. It may be that you and he had something special, but that there is still someone here on this earth that you can grow and learn with too. Loving someone new doesn't take away what you had with your child's father.
And, please do not harbor any guilt. What good can that possibly do for you or for him? Take heart, because life goes on in the spiritual world, and he is on his own journey of spiritual growth and change just as you are. All we can do is our best!

I have been married twice. My 1st husband died and it had not been more than 2 people living together and caring but I never thought of it as love. I later married a second time However, the marriage didn't work out. We were married 8 years but it was causing my health to decline. And he turned into someone different. Therefore, divorce.
Since I have yet to enjoy a good marriage here on earth and it doesn't look like it may happen before the end. So is there a way I can find and marry that "someone" in Heaven. You may have answered this question as best you can.

Yes, there IS a way that you will be led to your eternal husband in heaven, Sandra. At least that's what Swedenborg learned! He acknowledged that not all earthly partnerships are the eternal kind, and of course some people never find a spouse here. But he asserts that the Lord's leading in heaven will bring everyone to their perfect match.
Here are a bunch of videos we've done about marriage, if you're interested in taking a look. And we switched up the terminology a bit ("twin flames," "soulmates") to include different mindsets about it.

Our hearts go out to you for your sad and shocking loss, Stacey. Here's a 6-minute video about Swedenborg's take on that passage that talks about no marriage in heaven:
"Did Jesus Say There's No Marriage in Heaven?" -- ua-cam.com/video/Nfy6JNC4BwQ/v-deo.html
In a nutshell, Swedenborg says that for partners who had genuine love in their marriage (even through tough times), the spirit of the deceased partner continues to dwell with the one still on earth, until they meet again. Swedenborg was shown that when we die, we ARE greeted by loved ones, family, married partner. All who were married on earth meet again, and if they are a genuine good match, they stay together. If not, they each find their true partner. So all is in God's good hands.
Blessings to you in this early time of loss and grief, and prayers of peace.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому

Could be, InitialPC! We share the works of Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18th century Swedish scientist-turned-theologian, who believed the Bible had an inner meaning. He wrote specifically that we do not have children in Heaven, though we can raise and teach those who have died and will grow up there. He talked about "spiritual offspring," which I take to mean that our unions yield love and powerful connection - but not in the form of actual new life. He believed all life had to begin in a physical body.
Here is a clip on why he believed life needed to begin in the physical world: "What's the Point of Having a Physical Body?" ua-cam.com/video/LXj8Q2VuPfs/v-deo.html
That said, Swedenborg was a human being trying to describe divine things - I'm sure he didn't get everything right, but our mission is to share his point of view. It's important we all listen to our own intuition and let it help guide us to what feels real and true for us, so we appreciate you sharing your perspective on all this! Either way, I think heaven will be wonderful!

How could be forget his wife of 32 years? Check out this episode - "What Will We Remember in the Afterlife?" ua-cam.com/video/ChnFC9N0jfc/v-deo.html
People will tell you to move on because they struggle to see you unhappy. But moving on is YOUR choice to make, and there is no rush at all, and in fact some people never do remarry or date again, and that's fine. That is about what's right for you and no one can know that but you. I'm sure they mean well, but I imagine that would feel very frustrating to keep hearing that from people. Don't let anyone pressure you - you do you!
Take your time grieving, mourning, remembering, and learning how to navigate life without your beloved husband by your side. That's a lot of time together and I think his absence must be very jarring. He will be there, waiting for you, so you two can reconnect and do the next stage of life (the afterlife) together!
Swedenborg learned that time and space are very different in the other life - almost not there at all. And so what may feel like a long separation to you will feel entirely different to your husband. The time apart won't weigh on him like it does for you, because for him time and space respond to his state of mind and being, and is not tied to physical conditions.
Here are some episodes that talk more about conditions in the afterlife, and how married couples reunite after death. I hope they bring you some comfort, Loretta! God bless and love you!

i for example have every reason to be happy with my life, but when one thing is missing (romance) it gnaws at me and i don’t feel complete even if i’m fufilled in other areas that serve others. so if romance and, yes, the physical aspects of sex that we want to experience, aren’t around in heaven and it makes me very sad and incomplete, whats god going to do?

What happens when a couple is married more than once? Do you have to be married in heaven? One of my mom's friends was married to a not so nice person for over 50 years. She told me that she will never marry again after he died. She since has past away and I am wondering if she is married to her husband she had here on earth or is she a free spirit. Not sure if I would want to be married in heaven, I want to be free to explore the universe & meet God & Jesus.:) And see my parents. :)

Catherine Anne, great questions! Marriage in heaven would be a truly freeing and wonderful experience. Swedenborg learned that when we die, we enter the world of spirits, where we shed external layers, thoughts, beliefs, bad habits, etc - and become fully aligned with what we most love and value. In other words, we become more ourselves than ever before on earth.
That means your partner would do the same! And in heaven, the difficulties of this life fade away since you are made ready to accept more of God's love and truth in your heart and in your life. We just can access levels of being and knowing that aren't possible in the physical world. And many of our challenges, the struggles we face here as we battle hell and work to become better people, aren't going to happen so intensely in the next world. The spiritual work will be different, and overall more peaceful.
So with that being said, our marriages would also reflect who we really are, and what we really want. If a marriage in this world didn't serve us, it won't continue. Because the afterlife is all about the most genuine, authentic, and useful unions we can have!
Swedenborg does say we find our soul mates, but I think it's just as well that people do not HAVE to marry. No one is coerced. If your aunt or you truly prefer to be alone, you can and will be! But I believe Swedenborg learned that we can experience greater happiness in a loving union than we could alone. I also think you can spend time alone, doing what you need to do and growing or working on yourself, and then marry/partner with someone when you are ready. There's no rush! You'll have eternity. (=
Check out this episode, "The State of Married Couples After Death," ua-cam.com/video/V_iEjrqEA9s/v-deo.html for more on how committed couples reunite and stay together or move on in the afterlife.

What if you don't want a soulmate or you want more than one soulmate?
I'm not asking this question out of ignorance or anything, I'm genuinely terrified of the idea. I don't feel that strong kind of love towards other people (my love is all platonic: friends are family to me, I'm afraid of losing those people)... On the other hand, I feel myself gravitate to certain fictional characters, two in particular that I've felt for the past 7 years.
It sounds stupid, but I'm afraid of the idea of a soulmate that isn't them. I don't feel any sort of deep love or connection towards anyone but them... and it makes me feel broken or like a disappointment, for not having "normal" feelings. But it weighs more on my conscience to fall in love with someone that isn't those fictional characters...
I feel selfish thinking this way, but truly, the only things I want out of an afterlife is for all of us to be with our loved ones and to enjoy the interests that we have (my personal interests are Art, Writing, and Video Games) without being judged by others.

Hi magicdreemurr -- I think your last paragraph is not far off from the way it is. According to Swedenborg, our place in the spiritual world is determined by what we love and who we want to be, and LOVE is kind of like a spiritual magnet, drawing those with similar interests and priorities together. Our outer environment will match our core self. So in general, Swedenborg says we will all be just where we feel we belong, and nobody will feel they're in the wrong place. I suppose there's an infinite number of ways that the details play out, but in general, you'll be OK!

I have to ask a 2nd question. I have met someone I feel strongly for and believe is the one I've been looking for all my life. Due to circumstances only earth could present, we have not been together for a while. Whether we get back together here on earth or can get together in Heaven, this is my second question. He was married for 56 years and she died 18 years ago. I don't know if, for him, it was a good, happy marriage. I have a feeling it may not have been. Either way, and I'll specify that we don't get back together here on earth, would we still have the option of getting married in Heaven?? Since his first wife is already there, is he obligated to be back with her.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask.

I hear you, Sandra. Again, according to Swedenborg's spiritual instruction, after death we each will be led to the right person for us. He was shown that people who were married on earth do get together on the other side, and then it becomes clear to them both whether they belong together or not. If they don't, they move on and find "their person." So whether or not you get married to this man or not while on earth, you will find your true partner on the other side -- and it may be him! We can always work on being the best person we can be, the best partner we can be, to prepare ourselves for that eventual union. Sending prayers for peace and love!

I first found Swedenborg's website a while ago, and was stunned at how incredibly detailed his account of Heaven was, especially, when it came to marriage between soulmates or couples. But what puzzles me is that I've watched a lot of Near Death Experiences over the last 2 or 3 years, and noone has ever mentioned and described seeing married couples in Heaven. It matches what little is written about it in the Bible, but I'm interested if you know what the possible reason for this is since you believe it, or is this a question that can't be answered? God bless you 🙏 ꒰ঌ ( ^◡^)໒꒱ 💗⬆🆙

I agree that it is barely ever mentioned, but I do occasionally run across stories that indicate married couples being together in heaven, like this one, in which during an NDE a husband is able to briefly see his deceased wife in a home that is said to have been prepared by God for the two of them, and his wife said "We will see each other again": ua-cam.com/video/338myz3YVH4/v-deo.html
In chapter 8 of an NDE book called "The Message" by Lance Richardson, the author describes a scene in which the family members of an elderly woman are eagerly gathered to greet her as she crosses the veil, and her husband is pacing back and forth in anticipation. When she arrives, the group of family members part so that the woman can see her husband, and she rushes into his embrace. Would that happen if they their marriage love was not still active?
A possible reason for the scarcity is that in NDEs people are just getting a first glimpse of the afterlife, and a view the very outskirts of heaven. Maybe heavenly marriage is not someone that most people encounter in that brief view, since it's part of the more full and deeper aspects of heaven.
Does that seem possible? We are wishing God's blessings to you, too, Arneth!

@@offTheLeftEye I wish I had done a little more research about Swedenborg before I wrote my comment, I'm sorry
( eek.😒) for later on I realized he is not a Christian. I primarily really only was interested in his marriage in Heaven articles, so on the surface level he appears to be a Christian, but going deeper into his theology revealed his beliefs to be very different. That automatically makes me not take what he says as Truth in this knowledge he received from the visions and encounters he had with God and the angels. I don't believe it was God who revealed this to him. ...
If you're wondering, idk, these are some things that I read that are unbiblical : He rejects faith alone salvation but believes in a faith plus works based salvation. 'He believes the responsibility for condemnation is on the shoulders of the individual' .. He rejects the atonement of Jesus Christ .. He believes Muslims can be saved if they believe in Allah .. He rejects the Trinity and believes Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one person. He blames this teaching as the 'destruction of the Church' .. He believes the serpent was not a devil or satan but rather people's sensory perception.
This is heretical .. He's a false prophet and teacher..
Salvation is by grace through faith alone.. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16; Ro 10:9-10; Ro 10:13; Titus 3:4; Ro 3:23; Ro 3:26.) and the Trinity is the Truth. There is 1 God but in 3 persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Got Questions.org has really good article on that with many scriptures. www.gotquestions.org/Trinity-Bible.html As for marriage orf soulmates in Heaven, I've been curious.. but it's a secondary issue.
I love listening to NDE's, they're relaxing to me, but I don't always 100% believe all of them, to be honest... :) I think it would be difficult to know 100%, but with some I really do feel the Holy Spirit in the person. It's interesting, because from all of what I have seen so far, almost always animals and children are mentioned, but rarely if ever are spouses, family members like mom and dad and relatives, friends etc. There was this one who mentioned a bunch of very excited happy people waiting for them at the gate to welcome them into Heaven. They were people they didn't even know.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful response and the video you shared. I'm sorry if my comment was so long.. I actually feel very concerned for you.. With the Rapture so very near, salvation is so crucial to be part of the body of believers; the Church; The Bride who will be snatched and rescued up to Heaven with Jesus before 7 years of Great Tribulation starts. @offTheLeftEye Is it ok if I ask you some friendly questions, if you are willing and comfortable to answer them? :) .. I'm curious first to know if you have ever read the entire Bible for yourself? .. and how long have you been following Swedenborg's teachings ? .. and what was it exactly that made you decide and believe that Swedenborg's 'new revelations' were the truth over "traditional" Christianity?
Google says there are 8000 followers of Swedenborg's in the U.S. Would you say that's correct? Many websites describe his church as a cult, for the reason that the focus is so central on Swedenborg and His interpretations of his visions and astral projections. He believed that He was God's messenger.
The reason I was curious to ask you those questions is because as I was reading some more, I learned there are elements of the occult, mysticism and new age mixed into his teachings. His teachings are actually very confusing to understand .. but one thing is clear to me at least and that is there is nothing Christ - ian about Swedenborg's teachings. He's mixing evil and good; dark and light together. This is a doctrine of satan. In the Word of God, it warns us about the occult and it's practices in quite a lot of scriptures. www.openbible.info/topics/occult
Satan, Heaven and hell are also physically real. Swedenborg didn't believe that. The Word of God says: *"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." -1 Peter 5:8 "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever."* - Rev 20:10.
Swedenborg believed all faiths lead to God, however, the Word of God says salvation is only through Jesus Christ.
*"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."* - John 14:6.
A works based salvation is false. Jesus did all the work for us on the cross when He said "It is Finished. Salvation is by grace through faith alone and Jesus will get all the Glory. *"For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]."* - Ephesians 2:8-9
I read that Swedenborg believes Ephesians 2:10 is evidence for faith plus works salvation, however, this scripture is speaking about the new believer who is already saved and that he will naturally do good works through the Holy Spirit which now lives inside him. These works don't save him or maintain his salvation, but they will matter only in terms of rewards given out in Heaven at the end. But having said that Swedenborg said a person doesn't need to be a Christian to be saved! *God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us new people so that we would spend our lives doing the good things he had already planned for us to do.* - Ephesians 2:10
The Gospel message in the Bible is literal, and is simple enough that a child is able to understand it and be saved.
*"Now, brothers and sisters, I want you to remember the Good News I told you. You received that Good News message, and you continue to base your life on it. *That Good News, the message you heard from me, is God’s way to save you. But you must continue believing it. If you don’t, you believed for nothing. I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important truths: that *Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say; that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say.*
Swedenborg wrote about God's Divine Love. In John 3:16, it's written . *.that because God loved the world He sent His only begotten Son to die for us, so that whosoever should believe in Him will receive eternal life and not perish.* In order to authentically and truly know, understand and feel divine Love, one would have to also accept, receive and experience God's mercy and grace through the sacrifice and atonement of Jesus Christ and the blood He shed for us. This is Divine Love. ❤✝🎁
*"There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love. We Love because He first loved us."* - 1 John 4:8-12, 16-19
I'm sincerely praying for your salvation. Time is short, Jesus is coming back very soon! Jesus loves you and God bless you! ✨🙏 💗꒰ঌ ( ^◡^)໒꒱ ⬆🆙

@@erikmartin2 there are differing opinions amongst Swedenborgian churches about how to interpret that. Dr. Jonathan Rose addresses that in a response to a similar question here (link begins at that spot) - "Marriage in Heaven - Swedenborg Live!" ua-cam.com/video/Q9vyvxOL3tc/v-deo.html
And for more on that doctrinal point, skip what I wrote below, and read this blog post from a Swedenborgian minister and scholar, Lee Woofenden: "Homosexuality, the Bible, and Christianity" leewoof.org/2015/02/06/homosexuality-the-bible-and-christianity/
Curtis also mentions gay marriage briefly in this episode, which is cued to that part in this link: "Spiritual Marriage" ua-cam.com/video/K7Nyz6EvR18/v-deo.html
On this channel, we believe that the most consistent message from Swedenborg's writings is that internal values always trump external appearances.
The truth is, Swedenborg barely mentions homosexuality at all, which is notable in itself. Jesus, also, did not speak out against homosexuality. Instead, Jesus spoke out against adultery and lust. So, rather than focus on external forms of sex, Jesus pointed to paying attention to how sex is used. Adultery is using sex to betray a commitment to someone. Lust does not mean just sexual desire (which is a good thing as a part of a loving and committed relationship), but instead means using sexual desire for selfish self-gratification, using people instead of loving people. Jesus was constantly working to steer people away from judging things according to outward appearances or circumstances, but instead look at the deeper things, like goals and intentions and motivations.
Swedenborg echoes this in his writings. He states that adultery and lust are the things that can lead a person in the direction of hell, because they are selfish and opposed to heavenly love toward others. (Swedenborg listed 4 kinds of hellish lust: the lust to deflower, the lust for variety, the lust of rape, and the lust to seduce innocents.) So again, a focus on how people are *using* sex.
He learned that God and heaven are not concerned with people's outer actions, but instead are concerned with their inner motivations and intentions. God is looking at people's hearts and minds, and all that they are dealing with. If a person is doing the best they can, no matter what external and bodily situation they are dealing with, to become more genuinely kind and useful toward others, then they are on a path to heaven. All people are beloved by God, and God is the only one that can know what each person is dealing with in their heart and mind, and help them to sort it all out after death.
If you read the stories about how Jesus acted, he always ignored the judgmental nature of society and the religious leaders who were wanting to condemn people for not externally living in a certain way. Instead, Jesus took each person as an individual instead of part of a "category", reached out to people that society considered in the wrong or outcasts, and looked at their hearts in order to see the best and most wise and loving way to help and heal and guide. And he spoke the most criticism toward those who self-righteously condemned others! Swedenborg emphasizes that it is not our place to make spiritual judgments about others, because we cannot know their hearts and minds.
Swedenborg's work called Heaven and Hell contains an illuminating description of non-Christians' eligibility for heaven! If interested, here's a link to the e-book! swedenborg.com/product/heaven-hell-nce/ or read on below:
“The general opinion is that people who have been born outside the church, the people called "the nations" or "non-Christians," cannot be saved because they do not have the Word and therefore do not know the Lord; and without the Lord there is no salvation. They could know, however, that these people too are saved simply from the fact that the Lord's mercy is universal, that is, it is extended to all individuals. Non-Christians are born just as human as people within the church, who are in fact few by comparison. It is not their fault that they do not know the Lord. So anyone who thinks from any enlightened reason at all can see that no one is born for hell. The Lord is actually love itself, and his love is an intent to save everyone. So he provides that everyone shall have some religion, an acknowledgment of the Divine Being through that religion, and an inner life. That is, living according to one's religious principles is an inner life, for then we focus on the Divine; and to the extent that we do focus on the Divine, we do not focus on the world but move away from the world and therefore from a worldly life, which is an outward life.” - Heaven and Hell §318.
Here are some other quotes that help drive this point home for us:
"Divine love and wisdom cannot fail to be and to be manifested in others that it has created. The hallmark (or essence) of love is not loving ourselves but loving others and being united to them through love. The hallmark of love is also being loved by others because this is how we are united. Truly, the essence of all love is to be found in union, in the life of love that we call joy, delight, pleasure, sweetness, blessedness, contentment, and happiness. The essence of love is that what is ours should belong to someone else. Feeling the joy of someone else as joy within ourselves--that is loving" (Divine Love and Wisdom, §47).
"All things to the very least are judged by purpose. It is purpose that forms character, it is purpose according to which they are judged in the other life. Purpose is the all in all of character." (Spiritual Experiences §2450)
“Those who do what is good for the sake of the neighbor or the Lord are in heaven.” Emanuel Swedenborg, Arcana Coelestia §9210:3.
“There is nothing that we cannot rationalize . . . . Our ability to justify whatever we please is not intelligence” (Divine Providence §318).
“The majority cling to their own dogmas, and are anxious only to confirm these from the Word” (Arcana Coelestia §4368.2).
“All dogmas, however false, can be proved to the point where they appear to be true” (Last Judgment §39.18).
And from the Bible about who God loves (everyone), and the importance of the quality of our life and works:
“God shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34).
“There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him” (Romans 10:12)
“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt” (Leviticus 19:34).
“Whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12).
Those who have my commandments and do them are the people who love me. I will love them and will manifest myself to them. I will come to them and make my home with them. (John 14:15-21, 23)

@@offTheLeftEye Hi, thanks for the very detailed response. Out of all those videos and papers, what I appreciated the most was what Curtis said, which I agree with. What I took him to be saying was that although a same-sex relationship is not the eternal marriage between masculine and feminine that Swedenborg describes as marriage, that the Lord may nevertheless be developing the love of marriage within someone in that sort of relationship to prepare him for an eternal state that looks much different from what his temporal state looks like; and that someone in such a relationship could easily be much further along in their internal love of marriage than others who are in opposite-sex marriage. To me from the broad context of what's said in Conjugial Love, someone who is engaged in shunning promiscuity, and in honoring the idea of commitment, must almost certainly be someone who the Lord is working within to grow a love of marriage. So that's why I appreciated and agreed with what Curtis said.
What is unambiguous though, is that Swedenborg wrote the whole book Conjugial Love about how the universe, all of creation, is in its smallest and greatest parts the manifestation of the marriage between the masculine and the feminine, which ties directly and essentially to the marriage between love and wisdom, which ties all of reality together and is rooted directly in the Divine itself, and that this is the whole reason why a marriage between a man and a woman which unites the masculine and feminine can unite love and wisdom, and can be made eternal by the Lord, creating a whole and complete image of the Lord from the masculine and the feminine being united as love and wisdom are united in Him. This teaching is why I became a Swedenborgian, because of the overwhelming self-evidence of the truth of it all.
So to the question of "Does the idea of same-sex soul-mates fit into what Swedenborg taught?" I think that has an unambiguous answer, which is that no, in the context of the Swedenborgian conception of reality, you can't reunite the divine image out of the masculine and the masculine or out of the feminine and the feminine. I don't think that's an answer that comes from anyone's delight in not being inclusive, or from judging externals. It's that that understanding runs counter to the framework that Swedenborg gave and the reasons he gave for why the masculine and the feminine exist in the first place. But it seemed like that question, which was the question posed, in most the above was talked around instead of addressed directly. (And to be fair Curtis warned he was going to give a cop out answer, and it's certainly not my place to say what should or shouldn't be addressed.)
I know that the book Conjugial Love is rejected by some who follow other of Swedenborg's works on the basis that they consider it not inclusive or they consider it sexist or dated, and even by some who are ministers and teach from some of the other books. And I certainly don't begrudge anyone their beliefs, or what teachings they find valuable, or what they choose to teach others. Still, I think if asking a direct question of what did Swedenborg teach about what eternal marriage is and how that relates to gender... that has an incredibly unambiguous, direct, detailed answer. And for any of us who consider this a sacred revelation, it seems like there is a responsibility to give the answer when asked, about what was taught.
And yes, it's true that Swedenborg didn't directly address same-sex sexual relationships. So while "what did Swedenborg teach about same-sex sexual relationships" doesn't have a direct answer, still, "what did Swedenborg teach about eternal marriage and how that relates to the masculine and feminine" has an excruciatingly clear, detailed, and unambiguous answer. And to me that answer is one of the most precious treasure that the Lord has provided the human race, which can be the case regardless of how many or few people choose to believe it.

@@erikmartin2 Hi Erik, this is Curtis.
I honor that you treasure the conjugial teaching, and it's a phenomenal one to say the least! We feature the book Conjugial Love quite a lot in our programming. I hear you saying that there is a responsibility to answer the question about same-sex conjugial couples in a particular way, and I appreciate your tone, civility, and thoughtfulness. Knowing that like with all of us, it's our limited best judgement, I'll give you our approach to what we believe is our responsibility in the conversations we foster:
In every situation that comes up on our channel, both in show content and responding to viewers, we want to be coming from a place of charity, possessing the right knowledge, and be deploying both of those in service of what will be most useful. So before we adopt any response as policy, we think "what would responding like this do?"
To come with a definitive statement on something requires more care according to the potential for harm that statement has. For example, if we're driving in the car and my wife asks "did we close the garage door?" and I think I probably did, I'll say "yes." But if she asks "did we turn off the oven?" the same degree of certainty that led me to say yes before may not give me confidence when the stakes are that our house might burn down.
To come out and say that we know God holds same-sex relationships as fundamentally outside the divine design would have a huge, hurtful impact on people who are unable to feel attracted to the opposite sex -- on their ability to trust in the Lord's love for them, and to be able to form a relationship with God. It also would push quite a lot of people away from our material and Swedenborg's works in general, which we believe provide important tools for a productive and healing relationship with God. We had better be really sure about that before we say it. But I don't think we can be sure.
I think the bush has to be "beaten around" to an extent because we don't have enough definitive information to take a hard stance on an issue that's so explosive. I agree with you that there are a lot of definitive statements from Swedenborg that a man and woman can make the conjugial thing happen, but:
"you can't reunite the divine image out of the masculine and the masculine or out of the feminine and the feminine." Swedenborg never says that. That's a projection. It's not an unreasonable projection given the overall sweep of Swedenborg's worldview, but reality is too complex to make a leap like that and say we know it to be absolutely true. To give an example from the physical world: " Newtonian physics continues to be applied in every area of science and technology where force, motion, and gravitation must be reckoned with. However, today's physicists, unlike Newton, know that his laws do not work in all circumstances." -encyclopedia.com. Because they worked in so many places, it seemed inevitable that they would be universal. But it wasn't the case.
We don't know what Providence is doing. God was able to completely rework the human will and understanding and the mechanism by which we receive life after the fall of the Most Ancient Church, so we don't know what God can or can't do and is or isn't interested in doing in Providence. So I don't see sufficient evidence to say we need to broadcast a definitive opinion on this topic in our forums.
All of the material you're talking about concerning the male and female dynamic in Swedenborg's works -- that's there for everyone, and we're very interested in preserving that. But we also believe it's fundamentally important to leave enough breathing room in our conversations to allow for our own potential misunderstandings, and to not drive people away from the potent spiritual teachings in Swedenborg's works.
We can't have a discussion about whether we are right or wrong because we can't know whether we're right or wrong. The question is: what use are we performing? We can't make anything good or true happen in anyone. All we can do is lead them to the Lord. Only the Lord within everyone's freedom can lead to goodness and truth, and we don't want to do anything that drives people away from seeking the Lord.
So we are creating that conversation by presenting Swedenborg's full view on male and female and not editing or hiding any of that. But yet not decisively shutting down a conversation in an area of Providence that we don't have enough data on to move, especially one that has such large potential to drive large numbers of people away from a personal, fruitful relationship with the Lord.
Thanks again for your care and thoughtful reflection on this subject and for taking the time to engage with us here!
[P.S. from Karin -- I find it really interesting that the union/marriage of goodness and truth is sometimes represented in the Bible by two brothers (Cain and Abel, Esau and Jacob, etc.), and the marriage of the human in the Divine in Jesus was represented in terms of a union of Father and son. So, it seems there is more than one way to represent the marriage/union of love and wisdom!]

I guess that’s great for those that have had the experience...I always wondered how some people seem to be destined for marriage while others aren’t. Perhaps it has to do with a persons genetic make up or character, I’m not sure.....I have witnessed lots of people get married and some stay married while others get divorced more than once and then get married again and again or even people whom I thought would never marry, did get married and had children. My mother has been married 3 times and I have never been married or had any children. Perhaps it’s a certain “ journey” that only some people embark on for a learning experience ? I’m not sure. 🌸🌸❤️🙂👍🏻

In Genesis, God gave 3 blessings to Adam and Eve.:1] Be fruitful, 2] Multiply and 3] Have dominion over the creation
They had to reach individual maturity then create a family and dominate the earth [build the Kingdom of God on earth.]
Tragically, they fell before reaching maturity were ashamed of their sexual organs and were chased from the Garden God could never bless their marriage and family.
Because of the Fall we now have to follow the course of restoration, through which we can return to the dominion of God. So, we have no choice but to walk this path.
This explains why at the time of the resurrection, we are still single in the eyes of God. Corinthians 7:29 says:"“But this I say, brethren, the time short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;”
God could never bless our marriage because we are from the lineage of the fallen Adam
We need to know how God plans to restore the lineage of humanity from Satan back to God and finally bless our marriage
God 's original plan was for us to marry here on earth, become one flesh for eternity.
