    I really like the fact it adds a loop to any old amp. Imagine all the people that modded amps to get loops and master volumes. Now you can get that without molesting a vintage amp.

    • @yessitsme6884
      @yessitsme6884 3 роки тому +3

      For real, I have this nice little 20W combo with just enough gain but no loop. This wasn't even my main consideration for getting the Waza-TAE, but as soon as I used it with that combo and simply added reverb and delay from the TAE on top of running the amp wide open... oh dear lord I was in tonal heaven. After years of trying multiple schemes to get great tone at living room volumes, I finally have it... and it's so simple (well... except for the fact that you need a computer to tweak the settings, that's a bit of an annoyance).

    • @brpadington
      @brpadington 3 роки тому

      @@yessitsme6884 It seems like a really handy device even if you don't need all the features it offers. I have a 100w amp with a loop and a great master volume. Even I could use this for silent recording or something. Even just the effects are worth it in my opinion.

    • @yessitsme6884
      @yessitsme6884 3 роки тому

      @@brpadington Indeed, my "main" amp has all the power I need and an FX loop. I don't need the TAE for that one, but it makes for much easier practicing at home since it's much easier to control at low volume and it makes headphones practicing (or through small stereo speakers) possible. One thing I do wish it had was a passthrough for the speaker so I could use it for cab sim into the PA while still powering my cab from the tube amp. Would make it easier to do Wet-Dry too.

    I played through one today with my Two-Rock Studio Signature through a 2x12 cab. It's amazing what this piece of gear can do. The feel as you mentioned is something you have to experience yourself, and it feels amazing. I've tried different reactive loads on the front, and it's amazing how it feels different every time. Selecting the 4x12 reactive load, feels like a 4x12 but you still hear the 2x12 but with a bigger low end without screwing up the sound of the amp. I have no idea how they did it, but it works.
    The beauty of the effects (reverb and delay), is that they come after the amp, so the amp isn't affected by impedance or capacitance like with a pedal. It isn't Strymon quality, but hey, just put a strymon in the effects loop and the amp itself won't be affected by it. The amp can be itself at all times.
    I ordered one on the spot.
    I'm selling my Two-Note Torpedo Reload.

    Your explanation of all the features on this was excellent. This was definitely the most interesting product released at NAMM.
    Unless the box weighs a few tens of kilos, it must be using many inductor-gyrator opamp circuits for all the reactive load options. The size of the old fashioned magnetic-cored inductors was the limiting factor on the number of emulated loads in load boxes. An inductor-gyrator emulates the induction of a voice-coil using negative resistance. It's an interesting subject area.

I've been searching for a video where somebody uses a 57 Custom Champ through the unit to see if it really does what it's billed to do (not to be found, I think) ... I'll be running a 57 Custom Champ and an Custom Edge Deluxe through it primarily but will eventually get some high power amp tests through it as well. Nothing but fun in the future! Loads are measured in amount of resistance in Ohms. You'll see the "Z" a lot. Lo-Z....Hi-Z = Low resistance or High resistance. Why is it important to know? Look on the back of your amp. You'll see a rating in Ohms for the speaker load you connect to it. For example: If it calls for an 8-16 Ohm load, That's the speaker combination you can safely connect to it. Speakers come generally in 8 or 16 ohm ratings. Using a combination of these in parallel or series, or both wiring types, you can achieve a correct ohm rating, even while using more than one speaker in a cabinet.
    One should also note, that you should NEVER power up an amplifier, and play through it with NO load connected. What happens in an amp's power section, is that it is going to output some Wattage. Which is a measurement of heat energy. No load, and that wattage will stay in the amp, and cook it. Your speaker also has a wattage rating, say: 8ohms, and 50 watts. That means it is capable of dissipating 50 watts of heat regularly. That energy gets converted mostly into speaker movement, but some does need to vent out of the speaker coil. Look up electromagnetism, watts, ohms, series, parallel, and you'll understand more.
    So, speakers in different cabinets, in different wiring schematics, All sound different from each other! Yeah, it matters. Speakers move air, and that hits your ears all in a different way, depending on so many things. When Rabbea was talking about your load box being made for a certain speaker cabinet type, this is why it matters. Resistance of that speaker will also change based on it's temperature, the movement of the speaker cone, and how much power you send it. Slight changes are all it takes to change the overall tone and playability of that speaker. This is why, to me, the whole IR thing is so interesting, and won't get old. Everything is so different, and, it just needs to be played with.
    Rock on!
    thanks for the video

I can think pf so many different tube amp sitiations that could be "expanded" by this nifty box. Effects AFTER the tube power amp, just like a studio..mic and cab IRs. My only downside on this is the cost. 3x what I payed for my tube amp (JCA20H), and 1/2 of a Marshall head. I guess I'd have to buy/referb/hotrod a few more tube heads to bring the cost percentage down...(yeah, my G.A.S. is strong).

    Im still misunderstanding how Boss made this rather impressive piece of gear and didn't account for the fact that just about anyone who works in a studio puts 2 mics on a cab at some point... I am so used to mixing my eq by simply mixing various mics. Why only one mic sim??? !!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY (they almost had my money)

    The fletcher munson curve refers to the differences in amplitude at which the human ear detect various frequencies from low to high. IE , it takes more more amplitude for the ear to hear low end frequency than high end frequency in relative amounts. Not a techni call explanation, just a basic bit of info. Worth looking into though. Especially for geeks that like to use RTA.

    Thanks for your video Rabea, very informative and wonderful playing and sounds :) I would love to see a "light" version of this with just the reactive load part to it (the left section). This would bring down the price and apply to those that just need a great reactive load to tame their amps and might have an existing fx loop and pedals. Cheers!

    This device looks great but: to go all this very considerable way, with stereo outs & then not have stereo effects loop, for me, is falling at the last hurdle. If it had stereo effects loop I'd buy it, as it is, it's just shy of the mark for my purposes & its price. Enjoyed the video.

    17:00 18:40 quite evident from the sound that the amp is running hotter than usual. That Boss unit is really tempting. 👌

    Curious as to which one you would prefer if you could have one unit and why? UA Ox or Boss TAE? I am on the fence on which one to go with. I want to connect either my 5150 iii el34s 100 or Bogner Uber Ultra to the unit and then run a Mesa 412 in the center of my PA speakers for wet dry wet. Kind of what you did on the UA Ox video. Everyone seems to point to the TAE over the Ox in regards to flexibility. I more interested in the sound. Don't care about flexibility if I can plug in and dial up a great tone with ease. Curious on what your thoughts are. Great video!

    I'd buy one if it had stereo speaker outputs for my Marshall 2x8ohm cab but it's mono power out only! It does process "customizable stereo effects" internally through it's XLR L/R Line Outs though (possibly USB too).

    that resonance-punch thing was titled in Rockton's taboo artist model as 'reactance' in the cab sim menu as a sole parameter...adding up the natural bounce of the speaker paper as the following, which in return bring up with the lower-field echo-like bump...so that is the keyword in also EDM business I guess...whaaaat

  • @k8sune

    A big question is: "Can it be used as a pedal-platform?". Can you use a preamp-pedal with its built-in power-amp/cab-emu to achieve desired effects in regards to live, recording, practice, etc.? For the guitarist-on-the-go looking to achieve optimal quality while on the go while using as little equipment as possible, these are things that can be a huge selling point. Please elaborate further (if time allows)!

    Rabea - I have the OX Box and use it mostly to play/practice silently at home. With some minor tweaking of the mics/cabs/effects I can get a sound that basically feels like I'm in the studio with the band tracking the album I'm playing along to... Do you feel like the Boss unit does a better job of reproducing the sound/feel of playing the amp live when running it through the XLR outs? If so, what's better?

    Hey Rabea - You are here and when playing Victory Amps (another video) playing VERY good and interesting stuff - use that and dont destroy it with with some boring metal standard stuff (regular metal bas drums etc). Compose unique like Debusy Stones Bach Steppenwolf etc. You do thing other dont - unique!

    @rabeamassaad honest question... I like, but do not play high gain music, and I don't need and FX loop in my chain... I also don't anticipate going down the wormhole of IRs. I DO need a great reactive load box, cab sim, and recording interface for guitar, along with some studio quality reverb, and the ability play and record silently through HPs. I am leaning towards the OX for this but the features of the WAZA are pulling me even though I don't think I would use them all...please help! I trust your opinion because I know you have used both o these products a bunch... thanks!
