I battled this...."THING" on the virtual console, the developers really had some edge when they made the attacks for Zero!! Red blood cells coming out of the sides of his eye? When you beat him, the red part of his eye bursts out leaving a frightening image of a broken eye? Kirby games got balls!!! Don't even get me started with Zero-Two!!!
That's kinda the idea. To create a contrast. When you really think that Kirby lives in a Dream land, you can guess that hostiles like Zero or Magolor represent Nightmares. This is why I also argue that upon defeating Nightmare in Kirby's adventure, his energy dispurced & re-incarnated itself as the evils like Marx, Dark matter in general or The master crown. That's only if you really wanna get nitpicky over Kirby's story though.

I think the difference here is that your average kid would probably see 0’s blood as red beams or something (at least until the eyeball explodes). It’s not the most clear thing that it’s blood, but with Mortal Kombat, blood is very obvious, and a lot more common.

I agree when you say that it's not as creepy as most people think. Violence and gore are not surprising if you are playing a game such as Resident Evil or Dead Space. However, If you are playing such an innocent-looking game for the first time(specially when you are a kid) it will be A LOT creepier because its unexpected, even if it's not so violent when compared to most (adult) games we see nowadays.

I remember I beat all 3 forms of Zero. It was the best boss fight in the game for me. Getting all the Heart Stars was definitely worth it.

It really does. All the more reason for kirby to be forced to remove them from dreamland. Which is another little interesting way to look at it. Kirby is the one who has to keep dream land 'dream' land. Meaning wiping out the nightmares. Heck, he took zero down twice. Makes him look a bit dedicated really. He's like a bouncer in that regard.

Despite not being able to die, you need to find the secret treasures, Have enough beads (And prevent yourself from losing them) to get gold medal, have the skill to beat all the mini challenges to earn wallpaper and furniture, AND have enough beads to buy everything in the store AND MORE. Doesn't seem to easy now huh?

I've been seeing some videos with this boss having a yellow background with red and blue dots, and some with the blue background and black dots as seen here. Anybody know why that is? I've always wondered it.
The yellow background is for the boss rush mode called Boss Butch, all of the bosses have different backgrounds in that one.

I dont know why but zero's theme feels kind of unsettling to me. just something about it feels freaky. that combined with the actual giant eyeball monster bleeding everywhere makes this really terrifying
If this game ever gets a 3D remake, I'd like to see the Zero fight play out more like something out of Kid Icarus: Uprising. He seems like that kind of boss.
