And I love the phrase you give at the end of your videos that is so awesome somebody who loves America and is proud to be an American that's just amazing.
Adding a rolled up one quart freezer bag to the bottle will provide a temporary bag for the other items in case someone is short of pocket space when they need the bottle for water.
Interesting as you mentioned the space blanket as a casualty blanket. As your core temp drops, so does your ability to clot, not just to aid in shock treatment. Good video.
Using a nylon sock or such to filter out the sediments that may be there, especially after a heavy rain. There is one draw back, you don't get the full 38 oz.s, the filter displaces about 4 oz and the filter doesn't reach the bottom of the canteen so you don't get the water down there. There is a flip top bottle - 28 oz - that reaches down to the bottom but displaces 4 oz as well, so instead of 28, you get a little less than 24 oz. It is a good product, but would be great if the Co. could make the containers and filter so that you could access all the water.
Thanks for showing us everything in a practical and not a theoretical form. For me it is very important! As for the alcoholic fire starter, I think it is a very good idea to have ecological tartar starters with you, of course always protected against getting wet.
Nice piece of kit. Like the fact that you can filter 100 gallons not many other filters are that capable. Also like the extra large space blanket and the compass/thermometer combo. May have to get myself one just to have.
That is a nice looking canteen system and the parts which come with the kit will definitely be handy in an emergency. I have to look that up and order it and see for myself how good it is.
Stupid to have the kit inside the can, as who runs around with a empty water bottle? Better to have the kit in pouches on the side of the bottle so it always can be filled up..
I did not know what the little hole was for. Great info! Also the tip about the alcohol-based fire gel having a clear flame was awesome. Keep up the great work.
I've been told by some people on the internet if you take that folding saw like the mini saw that's all wrote up in your hands there and you could bind that to a simple branch it maximizes its capabilities and it doesn't bind as much as it's cutting through stuff.
Something people don't consider but simple rubber bands that are thick that you can get from the store could be amazing lightweight survival item as well as zip ties those are two lightweight items that can make surviving in a dangerous situation that much easier and I enjoyed your video you're awesome keep doing what you're doing.
How much do replacement filters cost? As for the kit items, if you've thought enough to purchase this item, odds are you have some kind of backpack or even a fanny pack. Just because the items arrive inside the canteen doesn't mean the designers intended them to be carried in the canteen...while using it anyway.
I like the concept, but wish that they would have kept the green color, perhaps have a narrow band of translucent material so that one could easily see the level of water. But they should have an exterior pocket for the survival items.
I would say use and buy a simple dry bag so when you're using the canteen and you have water in it you still have a container you can put all the items in.
A friend of mine who works in emergency management learned in cold weather training that people often lose their ability to tell how cold they actually are after too much exposure to cold. People who die from the cold apparently are often found wearing less than they should because they believe they are warmer than they really are. A thermometer would provide an objective measure for someone who is unaware of how their sensation of cold has been affected.
Does your green canteen use the same filter as the new clear one? I like your green one the best and I definitely want two or three of them as long as those filters gets chemicals out of the water. Out of all the filteration systems I like this one the best
No, not after using this filter. It's better than drinking water from your tap. Especially considering all the chlorine and chemicals in our water system. Thanks
Is priming the filter something you can do before you're in a survival situation? Because I'd hate to waste two canteens of water like that and I likely wouldn't do it or forget to do it if I was stressed
I'd personally rather prime it with clean water but honestly, I don't think it would hurt you if you didn't. Why not water your plants with the extra water? : ) Thanks
sootch00 thanks for the reply. I think you're agreeing with me. I'd rather prime it with clean water before I was in a survival situation so I don't waste water I had collected some other way that I wanted to drink but couldn't because I had to prime the filter
Always been like that. Break out a kit and the next thing you know is that you have pockets full of stuff on the way home. Cool kit though. Thanks for the review.
Okay. Now try and get that space blanket back into the canteen. I carry stuff in my canteen but don't like to. If I need the canteen, I no longer have a place to carry my survival items. Now they are easily misplaced or lost. I'm looking for a better solution.
Thermometer seems to be beyond useless in a survival situation. If you are cold its cold, if you are hot its hot. Its just something added to the kit to make the contents list longer.
I would also say to add to that kit some water purification tablets and a couple Ziploc baggies also because they weigh next to nothing and they're worth their weight in gold
I really appreciate all that you do, I'm a huge fan and I try to turn as many people as I can to your channel. As far as reviews of gear, you are definitely my go to guy.
I built a survival kit in a mil canteen case with mil camteen, cup, stove homemade lid. I had a lot more stuff in the case than this kit has. It never got a second glance. This one is obvious and will draw attention.
Rusty Shacklefort Also, walk upstream as far as comfortable to check for dead animals; I’ve found several in creeks. One was an entire cow. Imagine drinking from downstream only to find the corpse afterward. Use bandana to filter sediment, too.
sub dawg If it were stainless steel it wouldnt be squeezable anymore. It would require a new way to get the water through the filter, all throught the mouth piece
Your videos are my all time favorites. Have you ever thought of doing an occasional cigar review? It’d be the cherry on top. Guns, gear and cigars!
Thanks Chadrick, I appreciate it. As far as Cigars, it would be a short list. I'm stuck on Partagas Black Label maduros ! Lol!
SensiblePrepper we all have our go to. Cheers!
@@SensiblePrepper where can you find these filter canteens? I can't seem to find this brand anywhere
And I love the phrase you give at the end of your videos that is so awesome somebody who loves America and is proud to be an American that's just amazing.

Interesting as you mentioned the space blanket as a casualty blanket. As your core temp drops, so does your ability to clot, not just to aid in shock treatment. Good video.
You should fill the canteen with the mouth pointing downstream. It help reduce the amount of dirt getting into the canteen.
Using a nylon sock or such to filter out the sediments that may be there, especially after a heavy rain.

Or cover it with a bandana and no dirt will get in.
Great setup. I love building kits like this fo day hikes and such. I really like the filter on your bottle. Thanks for sharing.
I always stick around till the very end for those bloopers and candid moments. Keep up the awesome vids Sootch!
Wow, that filters 100 gallons? Most filters that that filter out chemicals only to like 20 to 40 gallons. Thats awesome!
Thanks Sootch! Looks like you have a gorgeous place. I enjoy all your vids and especially your closing saying. Wish you and your family the best.
You are my favourite prepper! Just love your failures in the end! It makes you HUMAN!❤️👍🙏🏼
Thanks for showing us everything in a practical and not a theoretical form. For me it is very important!
As for the alcoholic fire starter, I think it is a very good idea to have ecological tartar starters with you, of course always protected against getting wet.
Thanks for watching!
I've almost given up on plastic canteens. I've already obtained 2 WW2 canteens. 1 stainless and the other aluminum.
Thank you for mention to prefilter your water before using the primary filter. Nice vid. Thanks!
Nice piece of kit. Like the fact that you can filter 100 gallons not many other filters are that capable. Also like the extra large space blanket and the compass/thermometer combo. May have to get myself one just to have.
Seems like its a very well put together kit. Thanks for the review.
Greetings from the Philippines!
Another great informative video. Keep them coming!
Thanks Karlo!
Filter seems to be great. I hope they sell the filter in a non-canteen setup. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Scott! I'm sure NDUR offers other filter options on their website.
That is a nice looking canteen system and the parts which come with the kit will definitely be handy in an emergency. I have to look that up and order it and see for myself how good it is.
I just ordered the kit and hope it is as great as you said.
Stupid to have the kit inside the can, as who runs around with a empty water bottle?
Better to have the kit in pouches on the side of the bottle so it always can be filled up..
Less packaging, lower retail cost. Not rocket science.
Always , always enjoy your videos and information
A no nonsense approach to survival and prepping
Keep up the good work brother !!
thought you supposed have mouth of bottle facing down stream so you not get as much particles in bottle looks good
Great video. The log beaking as I was cutting it would be my luck. Keep up the good work.
I did not know what the little hole was for. Great info! Also the tip about the alcohol-based fire gel having a clear flame was awesome. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Jeanette!
Good kit. I just wish that the survival items weren't stored in the canteen. It would be more usable if it had an outside pouch for the items
I agree but they do easily fit into a pocket or typically you should be carrying a small pack. Thanks
WE COULD ADD A M16 VIETNAM ERA ALICE CLIP 3 30 ROUND MAG POUCH ON OUR BELT NEXT TO THIS CANTEEN TO CONTAIN THOSE ITEMS, PROBLEM SOLVED?
Would've liked to see some kind of cordage and perhaps something to keep the contents in. Cordage for sure tho.
Nice but you will have to put all the contents somewhere or not carry water with you.
Very good kit, if it were me though I would add in a small knife. Thanks for the review.

Amazon reviews on this say the canteen leaks and is weakly constructed. Can anyone confirm?

Can't find ndur canteen anywhere. I find replacement filters regular and radioactive but no canteen
Would the whistle be good for warning bears of your location? As opposed to yelling Ho Bear!
Nice looking canteen. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
Thanks Kirk! God Bless You!
Don, do you have anymore of your Sootch moral patches left??? I tried to find them on T-spring but there's none listed???
awesome video sootch please keep them coming! maybe some more on edible wild food that would be great!!
Thanks Aaron. I'm working on wild edibles but not enough to make a good video....yet : )
I would say use and buy a simple dry bag so when you're using the canteen and you have water in it you still have a container you can put all the items in.
I think the only thing missing is a zip lock bag to store the items in after you remove them to use the canteen.
John Pagdilao Maybe put the items in the carrypouch and hold the bottle seperately
Technical question from a very amateur prepper, how useful really is a thermometer?
Grimtrek UK How else would you know if you are hot or cold? 😂😂
Very good point, thanks for clearing that up!
A friend of mine who works in emergency management learned in cold weather training that people often lose their ability to tell how cold they actually are after too much exposure to cold. Ian Trousdale hi Ian, thanks indeed that makes sence.
Your compass finds true north? thats a pretty neat trick :)
jsnsk101 Adjusted for declination, obviously.
Best thing about these is after I give something as a gift I send them the video.
Does your green canteen use the same filter as the new clear one? I like your green one the best and I definitely want two or three of them as long as those filters gets chemicals out of the water. Out of all the filteration systems I like this one the best
Ok found it on amazon so bought three of them so thanks for the info
Cool survival kit Sootch00 and always long live the republic bro.
curious...a couple of days later...do you have any digestional issues re: drinking the creek water?
No, not after using this filter. It's better than drinking water from your tap. Especially considering all the chlorine and chemicals in our water system. Thanks
Thanks for the demonstration.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
One way to attach this to MOLLE is to use the K-bar MOLLE adapter
Do yo think the britta water filter bottle will work? Because I have the individual water bottle with filter made by Britta.
Can you do a survival kit based on the US GI one quart canteen?
Good video. I went by the NDUR booth at shot show, nice people.
Great video! Hoping I can make it as far as you have with a survival channel! Thanks for the great content!
I think a bottle hand washing gel will work better
Love the music you're using!
I love the taste of creek water

I am Mongo I agree keeping items in your water container is only good if the container is for emergencies only
In Alaska I think that's the point, it was meant to be something to carry with you if you needed survival items in a pinch
Can you post links to the products you review in the video description?
Thanks for another great video. How does that compare the Life Straw bottle? I'm still new to prepping and trying to put kits together for my family.
Bryan Butterfoss life straw is Really hard to beat!
Brian Emery thanks for the info.
I don’t know if you know what 45 degrees means
Great video, loved the ending! Will this cover accept a canteen cup?
You can attach a green, bent, tree branch to the cable saw and use it like a bow saw.
Good point! Thanks Grae
Please make more videos, preferably several a week. Your my favorite prepper. ☺
Thanks Samantha! I'll try to do better. Between this channel and the Sootch00 channel, I stay pretty busy : )
Great to see you brother! Thanks for the video,
Thanks for watching Eric!
Thermometer seems to be beyond useless in a survival situation. If you are cold its cold, if you are hot its hot. Its just something added to the kit to make the contents list longer.
what's the name of the intro song?
no cup? no stove?
Could the filter with screw on top fit a standard issue canteen?
I would also say to add to that kit some water purification tablets and a couple Ziploc baggies also because they weigh next to nothing and they're worth their weight in gold
Great video once again. Thanks for sharing, What was the background music?
Thanks BP! The music is titled "Knights Templar" from Epidemicsounds.com
Thank you for taking the time to reply. ATB
cool tune! great info, thanks Sootch!
It removes heay metal ?
What ! Brother Sootch , no poker knife ? There is room for a Swiss army right,
Great Vid ! The Fire Starter and Spork is Used For Cooking Your Grubs or Worms .
Good juicy Grubs! Thanks Alan!
Hey Sooch, how about a winter survival gear video thank you sir keep up the good work!
I just finished a Winter Survival gear upgrade for my Bug Out Bag on Survival Dispatch Insider. It will make it's way here at some point. Thanks Nuke!
could you do a review on pure2go filter?
Good video as always. Is that your house on the hill? Is the creek on your property?
Thanks! Yes, the creek is about 300 yards below the house.
Like your videos got 3 Mora pro c some Ferro rods fire cord guess what I'm doing on my days off
Is there not room in the canteen pouch to put the kit .?
Most of the items would probably fit other than the Blanket. It could go in your pocket.
A spork with a knife on it. Won’t that cut up my mouth? 😬
Those wire saws are designed to use with flexible limb as a bow saw, not holding the ends in your hands. Just sayin’
Enjoyed the video, looks like a decent baseline kit.
Thanks Daryl. It's definitely a good start.
I really appreciate all that you do, I'm a huge fan and I try to turn as many people as I can to your channel. As far as reviews of gear, you are definitely my go to guy.
I like the kit and you have a great detail video
Great looking kit!
Thanks Daniel!
great video.. just ordered a few for the family
Thanks Joel!
they should get rid of the wire saw & put some cordage in it.
I built a survival kit in a mil canteen case with mil camteen, cup, stove homemade lid. I had a lot more stuff in the case than this kit has. It never got a second glance. This one is obvious and will draw attention.
I checked on these canteens and they are no longer made. Discontinued. Too bad.
Seems like a decent little kit
Great review. 👍 Can go only 3 days without water but much longer without food. So, water is VERY important.
Thanks pardner
God Bless
Yes it is. Water is critical. Thanks Brother!
God Bless
Just replace the firejell with a carry on bottle of hand cleaner.
Separate spork/sporve/splayd comparison video please :-D
Lol! On the way
Awesome kit
Thanks!
Tip don't point mouth up stream and you'll get less sediment in it.
Rusty Shacklefort Also, walk upstream as far as comfortable to check for dead animals; I’ve found several in creeks. One was an entire cow. Imagine drinking from downstream only to find the corpse afterward.
Use bandana to filter sediment, too.
Thanks. Great review!
"What you looking at kitty?" >'*'< mew !!
not bad , you did a good video but the plastic canten isn't a great idea stainless would have been much much better
sub dawg If it were stainless steel it wouldnt be squeezable anymore. It would require a new way to get the water through the filter, all throught the mouth piece
yes good point , but still I would rather have one in stainless with a different method on pushing water though.. as a survival tool any ways
another good vid
Interesting but I will keep my stainless steel life straw and stainless steel canteen. I don't use plastic for food or water. Plastic is poison.
David Bennett agreed, plus you can't boil water also unless you have stainless steel.
Do you know of any stainless steel canteens like this one with the filter?
Derkman96 that's how I got my boobs
0:28 I THINK I SEE YOU!
