A more comprehensive tour of a Mudge room by Ben Boxer: • WORLDS BEST TECH DORM ...
I don't know how people can have such messy rooms
Especially when they know they are going to be filming it. Perhaps this is the cleaned up look?
i don’t know how people could be so judgmental for no reason
Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Thank you for this video. Really appreciate your effort
Thank you so much for this helpful tour!
oh my god this video makes me so dizzy
Same not kidding
Thank you for this video!! I am coming to CMU this fall!
lol been at CMU for 2 yrs, all i have been there was Newell Simon hall and hunt. Finally got to see what dorms are like. Miss cmu so much
Thank you for this. My Niece is applying here for fall 2022 and she changed her major last minute and decided on CMU and has no time to fly in for a visit. I'm sending her this link.
I can’t do communal bathrooms😔
Our RA was so disgusted at times that he designated certain toilets as urinals.
Residence on Fifth is really nice, imo.
AGREE!!!!!!!
thanks, this was useful information.
Overall it seems like mordenized Hogwarts dormitories.. I felt is when they had some card swipe (Password) to open the door..
And 7:53 resembles Gryffindor's common room.. Potterheads hit like..
I lived in that tower over 30 years ago. It certainly didn't feel like Hogwarts on the inside - more like cinderblocks. Sorry to ruin the illusion. Based on how some of the students behaved, it's amazing that it's still standing. And it basically looks "the same but different."
@@keithevans6450 lmao "its amazing its still standing" is crazyyyyy XD
The Walking Race in the beginning was awesome. I never thought someone could walk so FAST! Is that a requirement for getting in CMU ?
Yeah forget the cs portfolio… how fast can you twerk your legs??
Wish everything was a little more zoomed out and increase shutter speed to decrease motion blur
no Shirley, you're legit trolling Lexin
OMG I have the same Yuumei piano poster as you!
Very nice video!
Just watched some Cambridge (UK) dorm room tours, every student there gets their own room and ensuite bathroom... while kids here are stacked in tiny rooms and 5 people have share one bathroom 😂
Yeah
Can you choose your own dorm or are you randomly assigned to them? Also how hard it is to receive a single dorm in CMU? Awesome video, thanks a lot
If you are a freshman you make a list of your top 5 dorms and you are randomly assigned a living space. You can have your own roommate picked out or let them pick one for you.
There are student groups you can join, by your class year, and people tend to find roomies that way.
isn't there a standard single? I don't think I wanna share a sleeping room with others ...sharing bathrooms's fine tho
like the music
damn wheres all the tuition actually going cause its not going to dorms fs
I graduated in 2000, so that makes me a dinosaur, but I was in Hamerschag my freshman year. I thought that place was indestructable and would be surprised if it was not a freshman dorm. Schalg was a small step up from prison. Easy to keep focused on your studies though.
hahah Hamerschlag is still a freshman dorm, although it's recently been made into coed. was not sure if showing it in this video would have encouraged or deterred prospective students honestly LOL
@@lexin_ HAHA! Seriously?!?!? Hamerschlag Co-ED? WOW!!! When I was entering, the two worst dorms were Schlag and Scobel. I guess times have changed.
Yeah, you should have posted it with Schlag. Its the real deal. Like it or not, I am sure many students that get in will appreciate the sneak peak from your video.
2:43 Oh hey it's the CGP Grey music
i cant understate just how many times ive watched this video since applying to cmu
did you get in?
@@okikioluwakitansokoya8010 yup!
@@KpopStuffs congratsss
Can I ask what your SAT and GPA was? CMU is my dream school and I’m applying this summer and I’m kinda worried since I don’t have any good extracurriculars haha
@@looxizo4366 hi! my gpa was like 3.7 and my sat was 1330 but i ended up not sending scores last year 😭😭 honestly the numbers aren't super super important as long as u learn to write about urself well. just bc u don't have extracurriculars doesn't mean u can't make ur personal hobbies sound rlly good ! also if ur going into CFA like i did your portfolio will help too ^-^
Thank you for the video. I’m a parent and my daughter is accepted to CMU Tepper. She will be a freshman this fall, 2022. Please clarify below questions. 1. Can we use small electric/plug-in smoothie blenders in CMU dorms? 2. Can we use removable wallpaper to decorate dorms?
Lol parent moment
1. Probably
2. Yes
To live in them you have to be able to get accepted.. 😂
which isn't actually too hard... if i can get in (i did, CMU '24!), anyone can lol
@@gracegrace6528 Good for you!! What was your SAT score? Math and essay/reading section. Do you have any tips for getting accepted other than scoring academically well?
@@AppleBottomJ 1570 SAT (800 Math, 770 EBRW - darn those two writing questions!) 4.0 GPA, 17 AP classes. My extracurriculars were pretty outstanding (international awards, etc.), I definitely think they made me stand out amongst the other uber-smart applicants. My essays were okay, I definitely am NOT a very good writer. I did take a pretty big risk on one of the essays, so don't be afraid to be unconventional or creative.
I think it's important to note that CMU is VERY focused on merit rather than other "hooks" like race, first-gen, low-income, legacy, gender, sexual-orientation etc. This is one of the big reasons there is so many Asians, white people, rich/middle-income people, etc. People get in because they're hard workers, smart, and passionate. Not because their background can make the school look better on paper.
It's also important to note that some majors are harder than others- the acceptance rate to engineering is 17%, however, only 1/3 of students receive unrestricted admissions letters, allowing them to major in ECE. This means that although the engineering acceptance rate is 17%, the acceptance rate to the ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineering) major within engineering only has a 5.67%, which is lower than most Ivy League schools and MIT.
Good luck! I'm happy to answer any questions you have :)
@@gracegrace6528 Dang girl! No wonder you got in.. you obviously devoted lot's of time to studying. I have the GPA but not an almost perfect SAT score. Any tips? I assume you studied multiple hours or you are naturally brilliant. How long in advance would you recommend studying? (studying tips?) Yeash, with all of those extracurriculars, too. How did you manage your time? What was a day in highschool like for you. Yes, too many questions at once.
@@AppleBottomJ haha no im happy to answer questions!
I didn't spend a lot of time "studying" exactly, just a lot of learning and homework.
The SAT isn't actually that hard, if you study the right way. I started with a 1430 PSAT in my sophomore year (no studying), then a 1460 PSAT junior year (no studying). Then in march of my junior year, I got a 1500 on my first SAT (again, no studying).
Whats the first song in the video?
Living In Stereo - Dj Quads
25 years laters still the same crazy
Does Donner have elevators?
anyone else not hear them when their talking in fast mode???
It's a shame that they don't reserve any dorm for graduate students.....When I was undergrad, my school reserved dorms for grad students, and when I came to this school, I found out their dorms were reserve for undergrads......poor me
so if youre doing a masters degree there are no dorms for you?
@@okikioluwakitansokoya8010 wtf seriously? where do they stay?
@@mohammedazzan7529 girl idk
Do you have a choice of which dorm you live in? Also laundry is free right
you can rank your preferred dorms but ultimately they are chosen by a lottery system, and yes laundry is free
@@lexin_ Thank you! Are you still going to be at cmu next year?
destroyer806 Yup, I'll be a senior in the fall
@@lexin_ I just got in through waitlist. Hence me watching your vids lol
Do you have any info on Henderson?
I don't personally know anyone who lives there, but the CMU website has a lot of good info. I think it's probably closest to McGill in concept where it's quiet and peaceful
Interesting
Done
rooms look like enlarged closets
i really hope i can get residence on fifth !! class of 2025 btw :-)
Haha i will be class of 2026, i have high hopes and I'm really excited for college :)
@@helenzhang9896 awww,, i see. thanks for letting me know!
List came out today, where did you end up?
@@morgannorris8793 you shouldn’t be thinking about college right now you have 5 years of school to go
@@txgirl995 she said class of 2025 lol
You forgot Hamerschlag...
and morewood gardens
I don’t think they changed Donner much. That ugly blue building still looks like it did inside and out back in the 90s
They definitely rewired everything. Everyone has microwaves and the student to washing machine ratio is amazing!
Jerky camera = intense nausea. let me go barf now.
Yeah Donner 3EAST!!
Ahh my mom works there
Wow that's so great. CMU has been my dream school.😇
高源 ah really that’s amazing! my sister goes to cmu and it’s really nice and welcoming! Im still young so I have to study hard! i believe in you !!!
@@luv2you125 Yeah thank youuu~🥰I'm a freshman majoring in Computer Science, and i heard that CMU is famous for CS. So im study pretty hard to make my dream come true😊Good luck to you and I'm sure u'll also do a wonderful job in your study💪🏻!! Best wishes to you!
高源 ah that’s so cool my sister is doing information systems! I’m not really planning to go to cmu im probably thinking of going to Korea or Japan to study! Since I’ve been there before and my dream college is thank you so much! im cheering for you!!
@@gao_yuan good luck! I understand the acceptance rate at SCS was like 5% this incoming year. It was rough. They don't do much in the way of aid, at least merit. Read all you can on the school, watch the videos on how the SCS students got in, and go to the CMU Website to read as much as you area able to understand how it all works.
SCS kids get recruited hard and they make the big bucks coming right out of college because companies know CMU kids are ready.

They get education.... we get garbage

This is so deceptively the university is so dirty and old
Yeah.
