Milwaukee company manufactures tornado sirens used around the world

- Tornado sirens across the country have been sounding the alarm more than usual this severe weather season. You might not know that a lot of that noise is made in Milwaukee -- by American Signal Corporation on West Bradley Road. via.fox6now.com/5pc4u
Fun fact: American Signal Corporation actually used to be called Alerting Communicators of America, or "ACA" a division of Biersach and Niedermeyer, or "B&N" for short.
oh so it used to be called aca
Congratulations, you know a lot about sirens.
and before the Alerting Communicators Of America was the main subdivision of siren manufacturing for B&N the company just used the main company name B&N when they first started to make sirens such as the B&N Mobil Directo
Everyone’s talking about the fact that there’s a modulator in ASC’s testing room, but can we appreciate how the news station used an ACA Hurricane as the background photo for the opening to the story?
What about the Mobil Directo behind the guy when he was talking?
@@20v552 they made that. Mods were made by fs
Those beautiful ASC T-128's 😍
The Thunderbolts are being replaced because of them 😢😢😢
@orlandoarguello9153 yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Sharkpuppetfanlmfao no it inst
People need to understand this is PART of the system, not the whole system. Outdoor sirens are meant to warn people outdoors only. Inside a building where you can't hear sirens, you need a weather alert radio. Once you get the alert, go to your local media for details.
This is old useless technology. People don’t even acknowledge these sirens when they sound anyway.
@@TheJakeman789 You sure bout that? I've been in situations where my phone was on silent (or dead) and I wouldn't have known about a tornado warning if it weren't for the sirens going off. You never know if that severe thunderstorm if gonna spawn a tornado.
@@CorollaChronicles he loves to hate on tornado sirens, just ignore him
Please don’t get rid of the old sirens!
unfortunately as much as they do have a fantastic history or design they need to be replaced with the newer ones since the older ones can't make the new signals
@@skywolfx76 If you use a slow pulse width modulation you can get two different signals. for example pwm the sound oscillating up and down is warning and the sound saying the same speed is all clear if you use a multi tone siren you can get 4 different warnings.
@@zumacool-065 oh really? That's pretty good at least
Not old sirens
Dose are tornado siren
2:01 Why’s there a Federal Signal Modulator?
WAS THE MODULATOR MADE BY ASC THIS WHOLE TIME!? HAVE IT BEEN A LIE THIS WHOLE TIME!?
@@amvwhelen4220 I doubt it. These companies buy each other’s products and reverse engineer them.
I never learned what to do during a tornado, until my parents and I moved to a place where it’s tornado season in spring fall and I think summer. The sirens where I amb are kinda creepy sounding. And every time my weather radio goes off whether they’re testing it or whether there is a tornado alert, it makes me literally jump, because it’s so loud.
You must be really near one then
1:59 THEY KIDNAPPED A MODULATOR!
The took my balls
Just build Or fixing the sound
I was gonna say that
@@ququtornadosirenandcrossingrai asked
No! It's an ASC I Force.
Sometimes you forget how big tornado sirens really are. They look way smaller than they are.
That's because they're up in the air.
Especially an ASC T128
P50s are massive
Oh yeah they are Huge! Doesn't seem like it but a Thunderbolt Is about The size of a Truck tire. And P-50's You can literally Sit inside of them they are HUGE.
@Pandora Even Better lol!
Fazing out the physical alarms??? That's quite stupid if you ask me.
Me who adores sirens:
Activating sirens sounds fun!
Im from NY but I had business in the Mil last year and the city was doing some sort of seasonal testing of these sirens and it was ominous as hell. In WW2 in Manhattan where I'm from apparently these things would go off all the time. Because the buildings are in such close proximity in Manhattan the sound bouncing off the buildings from the sirens had to be horrific.
1:59 Federal Signal Modulator..........Interesting..........
*hmm interesting. Looks like they were looking for some inspiration for their I-FORCE siren*
I force came first I think
Show me sirens Modulator was invented during 1992 i think.
@@CazicTheProtogen no, the mods came in the 90s and are a successor to EOWS sirens.
ASC likes to get competitor sirens and compare them to their own.
Please keep the old sirens!! I love the ACA Hurricane
Yes
2:01 why os there a modulator there???
Very odd
Why not?
Nah jk I have 1 in my room it’s scary just looking at it but still $3,000 is not bad for a model
ASC likes to get competitor sirens and compare them to their own.
oH ok
It is important for people to understand that tornado sirens are an important part of a community warning system in the event of weather, environmental, or nuclear disasters. They provide warning to people who are outdoors away from television and weather radio, without relying on a smartphone to be fully charged or on someone's person. They are still the most practical solution to notifying people who are outdoors. The cost is significant, around half the cost of a new car, but their reliability and usefulness has been proven over more than a hundred years of use. New systems do not rely on the electrical grid, but use battery backup and have optional solar charging. Additionally not all people have smartphones that can deliver the emergency alert tone; many people are turning to flip-phones for more economical and less intrusive personal communication.

It should be all around the world for civil defense purposes
But I NEED TO SAVE THE DARIEN IL HURRICANE BEFORE IT GETS REPLACED
@@ianssirenproductions Come on. You can do it man
@@Acoustic_Theory yes, but the state should pay for it.
my favorite sirens are thunderbolts and ACA accelerators also ferdal signals
You mean ACA Allertor
Thank you I would like to know on how those are made
Seems a bit suspicious that a Modulator is in the back next to an i-Force of similar size.
Asc kidnapped it lol
It used to be called ACA but now it's ASC
They Have T128’s or T135’s from ASC in Fort Sask, Alberta in Canada for Tornado Warnings!
How are most of the sirens made?
0:16 a T-135/P50
Yep
Bruh don’t make sirens digital. There’s nothing like a good mechanical siren. I wish they could recreate the old sirens that we love, like, p50, in the same way

Hey mommy we tried playing around with tornado sirens
I wanted to go to the federal signal company in Chicago,....but IDK if they have guided tours anymore, or ever if they did or not?....
Did you find out if they have tours or not? My son's birthday is coming up and he would LOVE to see where sirens are made... we are a few hours away from Chicago so it would be an effort to get there. I would do it if I knew they were doing them though.
2:00 Why does ASC have a Federal Signal Modulator in their testing room? lol
competitive electronic siren marketing, resulting in asc acquiring a modulator to test against their i-force line.
Yea i was confused
To use parts?
they are asc i forces
why is there a federal signal modulator in the testing room
to test against I-forces to compete against FS.
Nice Compulert!
I wanna try that
1:59 why does ASC have a Federal Signal Modulator in there???
Probably a donation from Federal Signal, so ASC can get an idea for the I-Force
that was the first time i saw what was inside a modulator disc aka stack of mentos

If they are cheap can I have one

Cool
New tornado siren
I saw an ASC-t 121
That’s about the most retarded thing one could possibly do is to replace the mechanical sirens that have reliability worked since ww2 for digital ones that are susceptible to malfunctioning electronics and EMP’s. 😞 the whole point of the sirens is to work in the worst possible environment or times imaginable. Electronics are not going to get ya there when they are fried.
They probably make Whelens as well
No. No they do not. Whelen is a separate company

I always tell people the new sirens are not as useful. Those speaker models just cannot reach the distance and volume as an old analog chopper. I've got Whelen Vortex R4 just a few blocks from my house and you can hardly ever hear the damn thing. Useless.
