I remember a Friday night during the Cuban Missal Crisis when the sirens went off. Very scary since we lived in an expected target area. They still give me the chills sometimes.
What they don't know is that first shot of the siren sounding had a second one in it. that rocket-shaped thing on the tower itself is another siren that was probably replaced
I remember in the late 60s when I was young, we lived near a siren in Minnetonka and I used to take my dad's shortwave headset and cover my ears during the monthly tests!
I wish St. LouisMO had these sirens in this video. We have these Whalen tower sirens that aren’t that very scary. Bring back The Thunderbolts! That would put fear into cities!
When I activated the sirens in Elmore with the weather warn software, the system failed to send data to the DTMF encoders, so I had to override the system.
Even though tornado sirens are a great resource… it’s really meant for people outdoors. Have multiple ways of getting alerts… for example: NOAA Weather Radio, Phones, weather apps, local media, etc. so when a tornado warning is issued, you still get an alert and you can take shelter! Every home, business & school should have a NOAA Weather Radio, the more weather radios out there in homes, businesses & schools… the more lives we can save
Agreed 💯 . It's not all that expensive to get apps n such for phones..I use a weather radar app for my storm spotter activities on top of NOAA weather radio on my scanner.
A growl is basically just turning it on for a second. Basically a very short test for repairs and stuff so the people nearby don't have to hear a loud siren blasting. Example of a growl: ua-cam.com/video/B27Kjs19f-c/v-deo.html
I know I'm late but it depends on what the city picks however the most common is: Hi-Low (or really any fast paste tone) = fire or jailbreak and stuff like that. and usually the steady tones are for the weather.
I’m been there is 20 sirens everywhere there’s like an I saw this one and could show you the video but I don’t I forgot with a channel name is and Thunderbolt siren and went for a really long and it was for no emergency
IM FRM MINNESOTA AN THAT NVR HAPPENS UNLESS ITS NECESSARY FRFR IM CONCERNED TO BE HONEST MY LUVS BUT I GUESS WE GOTTA GO WIT IT BUT BE BLESSED AN LUV U ALL...

I wonder who they send out to get these siren videos, very cool to see such a variety on a news network like this.
love when the sirens go off😁
The fact they got an attack option makes alot of sense
sometimes with these news articles i like to play a game called 'is the reporter wearing proper hearing protection'
What they don't know is that first shot of the siren sounding had a second one in it. that rocket-shaped thing on the tower itself is another siren that was probably replaced
Beat me to it.
yep looks to be a model 5 (or 2) sadly they are getting replaced but my city still has one 2 miles from me :)
@@Kansasavation Yup, that's a model 5. I didn't mention it at first because to non-siren enthusiasts it wouldn't mean anything

You're kidding right? Grew up in North county STL these played every first Monday for testing and still haunts my dreams.
1:12 nice to see they featured a 4/5 port federal signal thunderbolt 1000T on chopper level 4
Minneapolis
It detects tornadoes in the Midwest with the sirens go off and let people safe during severe thunderstorms.
MAYBE moving to Rochester MN next year. Can't wait to film more sirens.
A couple of the new Minneapolis MN Whelen Vortexes are shown and a part with one sounding
Thunderbolt siren is the best

Field’s 4/5 Port Thunderbolt 1000T 1:12-1:17
I wonder what that "Growl" one sounds like.

Growl is turning on the siren for a second
0:08 the bottom said 2001srnb
Imagine hearing this at night that be more scary
0:16 anyone notice that model 5 there?
I did!
I did
A tornado siren off yesterday
The siren in our city, use steady alert
what happens if the power grid goes down
theres a UPS on the PC that powers the WeatherWarn system
Newer sirens have a battery backup system, so in case the power system goes out, the batteries in the siren are able to power the siren itself.
I wonder what kind of tones mean what?

Wow. In Memphis it’s, ever Wednesday
I like the siren that goes WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
wait, they have a daseoc?!?!?!?
I saw a 2001 and a model five Tornado Siren sounding I have a Waylon Tornado Siren behind my house
Can I get his job? @2:17
Cool

It starts when storm chasers see trouble & we call it in to the NWS. Aka... we get their attention.
How do they ACTIVATES!?? 🙄
True
Simple typo
🤓
Dude the town controls them the town had access to all sirens
WeatherWarn with M-FSK tone selection
Our got off every day at 12am
“Activates”💀
Vortex
Model 2
2001 SRNB
Thunderbolt 1000
200 X 19,000 per siren= federal signal make money
They only activate them when testing them. Not when there's actually emergency. That wouldn't make sense. 😂
