you could utilize homeless people if you had jobs that needed to be filled. Manufacturing for instance have done this for over a century. But why would i manufacture anything in america when i can go to china and pay 80% less to build the factory and 70% less on wages and 30% less on taxes? Things are complex and hard to understand but its not impossible. You start at the root. Where does money come from? The federal reserve. A private corporation. Its not even an american institution. Its an international buisness with several branches around the world. There are no votes. There are no elections. No laws apply to them.

Why should I listen to the people and do things they want to do? I could just do what I want to do and make excuses and blame other people for all the problems.

Allowing homeless to camp everywhere is not a housing program. The solution is easy; offer strict wraparound programs, institutionalized those who can’t function due to substance abuse and mental health issues, and kick out the transient homeless.

You cannot rehabilitate people while they live on the street. That's ridiculous. The solution is one that is wholistic. First you house them, then you offer treatment. Keeping drug addicts or mentally ill people on the street is nuts.

Based on Ms. Monroe’s plan, I would place these people in a place to live but with the requirement that they secure and maintain a stable income. Part of that income should be for rent, food, laundry, transportation to and from work. Don’t just provide free housing, help them earn it and transition back to self reliance. $15 per hour, is $30k per year. $1000 for rent can at least begin to create a sustainable housing project to help recover some of the costs. I think if the public felt this was not just a hand out, there would be more support for the project. 🙏💪🌏🌍🌎❤️🇺🇸🖖

Yes , the mentally I’ll , and drug attics are a somewhat lost cause ! She is right . Get help for the ones who want and need help immediately, do it ! Don’t talk about it . Forget about the Loosers who will not get better and have a death wish.

It's so obvious that the housing first model does not work. It will work for people who are willing and able to accept services, so that should be mandatory. If you accept a room/apartment, you will participate in whatever services they offer. Separate institutions are needed for severely mentally ill people. And separate rehab programs are needed for drug addicts or those with dual diagnosis (drug addiction/mental illness). That is what the money should be spent on. And we should stop voting in people who just want to "build more housing."

Repealing the 19th Amendment would solve so many problems.

Actually this is completely false - the housing first model is a tried and true approach to breaking the cycle of chronic homelessness and we can look to Houston for the data - it is disgusting that she suggests prioritizing “deserving” individuals (correct terminology - people experiencing homelessness - which she never uses). I agree we are misusing funding but she is completely out of touch with the humanity and dignity pieces of this complex issue. Another corporate talking head without a clue.
