So what is hip dysplasia in dogs? It's a skeletal abnormality affecting the hip joint. Dogs with hip dysplasia have abnormal growth or development of the hips. While this condition mostly plagues large breed dogs, it can occur in any size or breed of dog, even corgis.
Hip dysplasia can occur from a multitude of factors, including genetics, nutrition, environment, exercise, growth rate, muscle mass, and hormones.
Treatment for hip dysplasia in dogs can range from surgeries to physical therapy to vet-approved supplements like Native Pet's Relief Chews.

I really appreciate how far you went to get Chibi healthy & on the right track. Chibi was actually my dog’s fave toy’s name. 🥰 I was wondering if your dog’s first symptoms may have also been not jumping up on the couch easily, or lifting themself up with the two front paws instead of back. My dog is 9 now so i’m extra cautious of these changes that have happened with time. She also sometimes wants to be picked up after 30+ mins walking. I’ve always blamed our training about the above, or my willingness to help her up even since young. Just thought i’d get your perspective given your experience. Thanks so much!

If you haven't already, check with your vet. Whether the issue is hip dysplasia or something else, your sweet pup will be much better off if you catch it young!

Hey. Thanks for a the information. Do you think it's a good idea to let my dog walk the stairs? I live on the second floor and in order to take my boy for walks, I gotta take the stairs. :(

It is better if you avoid climbing the stairs as this put extra pressure on her joints.
If you can carry her up the stairs.

My dog ended up with Hip (both hips) and elbow dysplasia after a larger dog ran him over as a puppy.... I have been paying for his Op, therapy, ect. on my own... the other owner ditched and ran away everytime she spotted us

So sorry that happened to your pup.

Sorry about that but it’s highly unlikely that’s what caused it. Hip dysplasia is a genetic problem related to poor breeding practices or, in some cases, overfeeding. Essentially dogs that are bred to be too large for their breed standards and grow too quickly are very prone to it.

Oh you are so pretty sweet dog, so sad she’s been born with this genetic condition.
