My golden retriever is 11 and his hips are so bad that he lost all his muscle around his hips. This week he can no longer get up or stay up to go potty. Do you have any tips on how to help him? He still has an appetite and we put him on painkillers to manage his pain

Thank you for your comment. Often if a dog is guarded about being massaged you need to start light gentle touch away from the area where they are sore. Behind the ears or lower neck are good areas and giving a popsicle with pumpkin or peanut butter helps a dog to start understanding you want to do something FOR them not TO them
