What a great song and what a great mix - "even" the one in stereo. I'm absolutely thrilled.

It’s astonishing how this technique in mixing can take away the heavy lifting of eq and compression and create a much more dynamic output closer to natural hearing patterns than old timey stereo mixing.
What I found personally is that listening to mixes your way is less tiring for my ears while feeling way more immersed. The experience that this gives me i would have to describe as having a „freien Atem“. And from this point alone I think the „3D audio is a fad“ position dissolves itself. Thank you for your vision, great work and focus.

Object Bed mixing like this is often beneficial when beginning from or matching to a Stereo mix. You can also get some control over Dolby's Spatial Coding because you are not pushing beyond 16 spatial groups as all audio / objects are maximum 7.1.4 and 12 groups meaning less spatial loss once streamed commercially.

Great work developed by Fiedler Audio! I have been using Composer, and I think it is very practical for starting a mixing session in Dolby Atmos, compared to other current tools. On the other hand, it is important not to focus only on the use of PAN tools, it is necessary for Fiedler Audio to invest more in more complex mixes, especially exploring the use of plugins from other companies that already operate on the Atmos platform (for example: Eventide, FabFilter, Sound Particles, Nugem Audio), because it doesn't seem as simple to me to route a delay or reverb, as well as using a compressor (example: PSP auralComp from PSPAudioware or Spherix Immersive Compressor & Limiter from Waves Audio) or equalizer on a master track or Bus already configured in Atmos (example, 7.1.4). Therefore, it would be interesting for Fiedler to set up a more advanced session, in a more common DAW, such as Pro Tools. I reaffirm the excellent work of Fiedler Audio. Congratulations!

Hi Eddie, thanks for your comment. But I must correct you here a bit. The plugins you mention (PSP, Eventide, Farbfilter etc.) are NOT operating on the Atmos platform. They are merely multichannel plugins which can be fed into Atmos. If you use such a plugin on a lets say 7.1.2 bus you can always hook up a Dolby Atmos Beam after it to get its output into the Composer. Mastering Dolby Atmos mixes is an entirely different topic. Anything you want to have included in the ADM file needs to happen before the Composer. Anything you hook up after it naturally only serves for monitoring.
The mix tip series here is currently treating the topic of how to transition from an existing stereo mix to its Dolby Atmos version since this is very important for many people. Very soon also other topics will be shown here.

In fact, I'm just starting out on the Dolby Atmos platform, I still have a lot to learn. In this sense, the instructions posted here are of great value to me. However, I think the transition between stereo and Dolby Atmos needs adjustment. I would venture to say, it is necessary to configure a new MIX BUS due to a different distribution of audio signals. Thank you very much for your kindness in responding to me.

Hi ... I have the essential version installed and I'm using Reaper. I'm using a 7.1 wav file of a 3 minute music video. When insert the beam vst all seems well but the Dolby Composer ... that plugin starts up but all I see is a long PR message about the Dolby Atmos Composer. I don't see anything like I see in your videos ... Can anybody help to get it working ... Please ... Thank you ... Gary

Hi Gary, I guess what you see is the start up tutorial which is shown to the user the first time you use the plugin. On the bottom of the plugin window you find controls to step through or close it.
