Those are the same poles I use. Stackable, cheap, and keeps moisture in very well (moss poles drying out within a day in the winter is the worst). Thanks for sharing
I'm utterly fascinated by the beauty of these rare plants! I've got 3 Thai Constellations that I grew from tissue culture - what a journey! As an artist on a budget, I can't always afford the real thing, so I've started creating realistic versions of any rare or expensive plant I like, without breaking the bank. haha
The easiest ways to tell between the two are large forms crawl, small forms climb…large form also has tighter internodal spacing and where the stem meets the leaf it will have ruffles
Been thinking about using these I just throw some cling wrap around the back half of my wire moss poles but as my collection grows these may become easier great video
Very timely video.. I was planning to chop my monstera tomorrow for cuttings. Loving your content from India. I will set up aerial roots on to moss pole tomorrow instead and cut it in monsoon time. Mine seems to be smaller variety. I thought that as roots grow bigger, fenestration pattern and leaf size improves. Let's see how it goes by next year😂
@@LeafyLuster Fenestration happens more when the top gets more indirect/sunlight, so it forces the leaves to divide sunlight to his bottom brothers and sister leaves. It is a myth that it does not handle direct sunlight, the older big ones can handle direct sunlight, if it can adjust over time and in moist environment.
There's definitely a difference between small form and large form from my experience. I have a Thai consternation and a regular green small form monstera, and I notice the difference between the leaf size
I agree that there are small and large form monstera. Interestingly though, I used to have a monstera that was supposedly a completely reverted classic Albo (so small form) become very big with huge leaves like a large form. The difference was it still had longer internodal spacing than the known large forms I've seen.
The only Deliciosa that is variegated is the ti. Borsigiana is the small form. And the Borsigiana is a climbing vine. Delisiosa is more of a self heading form. I've been growing both for 25+ years
So far I have 5 monsteras in my desperate attempt to get the large form . My last one I g had ave been told by the seller it is large firm and even as a baby has bigger leaves than my original monstera which is definitely borsigiana. I also have one which apparently is a mature borsigiana but has the ruffles . I’m praying my last one is large form as I’m running out of space 😂
@@LeafyLuster I planted two together to make space , then bought another 😂. How could I ever give up a monstera ? I just hope my latest one is large form so I don’t have to buy another 😂😂
I love watching your content! I always learn so much from you. I agree there are two types of monstera as I have finally found a large form after searching and trying multiple small forms. It seems they love to grow sideways rather than upwards when they are larger forms, I assume to hold the weight of their large leaves? It's so fascinating!
Actually I got a new pair of scissors as a gift because I couldn't find them anywhere. I can't believe you remebered this though. A few weeks ago I found the old one behind the fridge while moving some things around 😅😅😅 Now I have two pairs again.
I have 1 cutting of a lief and now I’m so scared that it’ll die. Mine is facing a north facing window but doesn’t get toooo much sun. The lief got brown spots. Help
I always thought that the borsigiana is the small form and the deliciosa is the large form and your vari looks like a borsigiana. the deliciosa vari is really rare, but the thai cons are deliciosas... but correct me if I'm wrong
As I said the moss is grown and harvested in the Netherlands, I live in Germany, so no ocean between us. Of course, it has to be transported by dhl truck but still better than importing it from New Zealand.
I would love to see some evolutionary DNA research on the deliciosa large and small form. I watched the video from Pretty In Green and he doesn't mention it, so maybe nobody has checked out genetic differences between the monsteras yet? It seems they just looked at appearance, but as plants can change so drastically depending on their environment... So, I don't know what to think!
That is not possible I guess. They are connected and if you water the pole to much, the excess water will flow into the soil. I use an empty water bottle wit a hole in the cap to slowly drip water into the pole. This ways I can control how much water goes in and I am also allowing the moss to soak up most of it, so it doesn't end up in the soil.
You could of course grow it as long as possible. It was just a decision I made for myself since I wanted to grow it on a moss pose anyway. In my case the ceiling is the only limit 😅
This is a fantastic videos! I have to ask about those unique scissors you used for the cutting, are they made by Yasugi or Sasuke craftsman brand? 🤩😱🌱🪴
I like this video. I have an Albo, watching and came across this. But just put the blue I also the strong accent, almost like Swedish/Danish/Finnish/Norwegian. Then the pronunciations also have strong Sanskrit/Hindu or German influences. Please enlighten me lol.
Hahaha you’re not far off 😅 I’m a Czech, raised in Germany. In school I learned British English. And afterwards on the internet I learned American English 😄

Couldn't have said it better, those are the only poles I can tolerate and work with 😅

Yes there has to be large verses small, in my experience. The short internodal spacing on large form is one of the main reasons that I Prefer it.
My favourite plant is Monstera and my favourite channel is Leafy Luster 💚
Been thinking about using these I just throw some cling wrap around the back half of my wire moss poles but as my collection grows these may become easier great video
Glad to see you used the Frischhaltefolie :D
I have a propagating addiction. I can’t help myself🤷♀️. I love watching the cutting grow roots then turn into new plants. So satisfying
I feel you, I'm addicted too!
I totally agree with you about the monsteras! They are completely different.
✌️🫶🌞

The "small form" can get really big with time too! Don't worry it'll also get fenestration 😉

I think in comparison to the Thai it is very obvious!

Yes of course, I agree. The small form can get impressive leaves as well!

large forms are crawlers, small forms are climbers.
Yay, you found your scissors! :)

yeah I think hers is borsigiana variegata, I can tel because of the spacing between the nodes, the deliciosa has it's nodes closer
I agree with you both, I have seen people with a large form Deliciosa Variegata before. Thai is for sure also "large form".
Environmental friendly, while you order it from across the ocean?
How do you think these come to you, by walking?
As I said the moss is grown and harvested in the Netherlands, I live in Germany, so no ocean between us. Of course, it has to be transported by dhl truck but still better than importing it from New Zealand.
wow reactive much @13BulliTs
What is your shop name? I would love to get a variegated monstera
I only sell locally here in Germany.
Can anyone recommend a UK based seller for those plastic moss pole? Ive been making my own out of wire mesh but I like the look of these plastic ones.
You should be able to find them on amazon or maybe some plant shops also offer them?
Stinks that I can't get some of that moss.
😅 I already told the owner of Sybotanica that they should expand their business to other countries.

As a Biologist myself I agree this would be very interesting. I should ask to sneak some samples in to the sequencer at work 😅😅

💚🤍💚🤍💚
See all those rotten roots? This is why your white leafs are rotten too.
That's entirely possible, although they weren't badly rotten.
Any rot
has to be removed and the remaining roots treated for rot if you want to keep the plant alive.
this is so sad poor plant
This is a fantastic videos!

Oh boy I got them as a gift for my birthday. I believe they were fairly cheap unbranded ones from Amazon.
