At 1:04 if you played the first 3 G. O. W. games you'd recognise those moves.
He used it against the basilisk, Hydra and sceplia serpent near posiedon's temple.
Kratos still hasn't lost his step.
Oh damn how did I not notice that??
That’s great to see
And the Scylla too
El ordenamiento de los dientes de Nidhogg espantan
Fun boss with fun mechanics honestly my favorite in the game so far
Garm??
Sarcasm? This fight was annoying as hell.
@@DoobSac what? This is classic god of war. Huge, over the top boss fight killing some massive creature. This kinda fight is why everyone fell in love with god of war in 2005. This fight reminded me of that hydra fight years ago. This game is amazing. Even better than gow 2018
@@zacha8934 Classic god of war didn’t have jank and cheap mechanics. Neither did 2018 actually
@@yourunclejohn please tell me your L opinion changed
1:04 The exact same move from the First God of War game, during the first Hydra fight. 🤯
Also the hades fight
@@marhubyak yeah kratos does that alot actually
Damn. Nidhogg looks badass
Nidhogg: and this is why I hate my job
I thought Nidhogg was suppose to be a Dragon that gnaw on the roots of Yggdrassil, not protecting it.
Not everything follows the actual lore. Of course the author would change a few things like how Atreus(Loki) came to be in this one. And other things too.
@@theguywhowearsamonitor6411 there's a difference not being accurate & changing stuff that completely goes against what the mythology depicted. Nidhogg is supposed be a monstrosity that threatens the 9 realms.
@@reddishcarp1237 what you described is the same thing. There is no difference. Adaptations have always taken liberties when it came to the source materials. No matter how "accurate" its advertised to be.
@@reddishcarp1237 same as the lore that said Athena Curse Medusa, while in origin story, its not a curse, it is a protection. for a Woman who has been a victim of rape. Story can have different interpretation
Probably feeding on it like a parasite and is just protecting its territory, like a farmer protecting sheep.
Santa Monica knows how to make epic boss fights, so satisfying ! How the hell did they craft this game, i can't even imagine the work behind it
Finally many variety boss fights
Kratos be like: Good thing this ain't a Hydra
Nice fight, but I was expecting a cosmic-size worm. The canonic Nidhogg is effying terrifying beyond words (dwarfs Jormungandr by forty thousand to one) and no wonder why he is considered an apocalyptic beast.
Remember, Ragnarok happens WAY before its supposed date.
Thats possibly a reason as to why Niddhogg is so weak.
@@NaK-R on this canon at least, but not in the original myths.
@@NaK-R i wouldn’t say weak thats kratos she fought against
@NaK weak??? She was giving both kratos the God of war, and Freya the godess of magic and battle a hard time and several minutes of intense battle. Saying she is weak is like saying am elephant is weak for going up against a pair of 50bmg
@@Tau_Aquila well acording to the mythos. Niddhogg is supposed to be WAY stronger than Jormungandr.
2:07
What an absolute brute. Kratos still manages to hold off Niddhogg in place, in arguably the worst position.
He had his right foot between the crack of the wall and the ground, his right foot in Niddhogg's mouth, and has his hands very terrible positioned on Niddhogg's teeth.
Freya really did say “Opinbera 💅”
My petty complaint is the fact that Nidhogg is too small. It should be BIGGER than that. In fact, if I were to compare it to Greek gods in GoW, it oughta be even bigger than the Titans.
grateful for not making that decision, the camera itself bothers a bit in this fight, if they had made it bigger... I doubt I would like it that much.
Agreed 100%. I had this massive fantasy in my head that Nidhogg would be Jormangandr sized and we’d ride on it’s back attacking it while it writhed in pain and slithering in and out of the big realm between realm loading areas of the world tree (it’s home) or some insane old school GOW scale boss like that. This was fight was… ok I guess.
@@martinc8965doesnt matter, it would help capture the scale and it would be way more epic to fight a cosmic giant
@@alliii835 aahg, I don't know, after fighting against chronos in gow 3 like 3 times it became clear to me that, of course, I prefer the fights to be more frenetic than spectacular, for the simple fact that a boss who is more dependent Apart from that, the gameplay or the challenge that it proposes on most occasions in this saga does not age well, and the spectacularity that it presents goes away after the first impression. I honestly believe that the Nidhogg and Garm fight will age like fine wine.
@@martinc8965 thing is, pretty much every boss fight in this game was more mechanical than anything, which led to alot of complaints about the game’s lack of epicness, which i feel like wouldnt have been if the boss fights were more cinematic, for me personally, the berserkers and any of the post game bosses are enough for the challenge aspect of the game, other than heimdalls, that fight had to be challenging no matter what, but thats just me, and for the camera issue, they could have just made nidhoggs giant head visible, that would have been fine on camera and perfectly captured the scale of the creature.
Nobody likes a backseat driver, Freya!
Looks like a Skullcrawler
It’s based on how Nidhogg really would look when depicted in myths as a true Norse lindwyrm
It's just an incredible feeling when Kratos kills beings who've existed since times immemorial and are part of the very existence for the world they live in. In Nidhoggs case though it's a little tragic since they were played by Odin.
dear God how I loved this boss fight
Reminded me so much of the dragon in the first game
even having Freya join us after helping defeat it was amazing
and my lord not even talking about the music
I think this games attention is overshadowed by thor and odins boss but I think both Garmr and Niðöggrs boss fights are better and more intense
And you're right the music for this boss is absolutely magic
This was way better and acrobatic than the dragon in the 2018 game tho
The Nidhogg boss fight is basically the reskinned Basilisk fight from Chains Of Olympus
Loved how Freya run to help Kratos so epic!
She’s honestly useless fighter for the rest of the fight and really annoying. Thought she would be able to do more but they ended up making her useless
@@kaylademoura6165 atreus has the same problem.
@@dima_briefel the part where he and kratos destroy 2 valkyries
@@Sh2ft does he EVER use Bjorn but in that moment (except Asgard battle)?
Freya also uses her magic when plot wants it.
@@dima_briefel thats because he's still a kid and doesnt have much control over his power but he has insane potential
You can't deny those two work very well together. I wonder how their bond/relationship will be in the next entry, if there is one.
Damn Freya
Freya: “I have to break his hold on me! And YOU are in the way”
Nidhogg: “BRO IM TRYNA LEAVE-“
7:21
Agree it is the most assinine thing in the whole game like all they have to do was show Nidhogg trying to take Freya’s magic with her and problem solved but nah they got lazy and made Freya into such a vile character instead. Like she really is vile to animals. Dragons, oh Yeah wipe them all out cause my forest which I haven’t been in for who knows how long now has them. Woman didn’t even check with anyone else if the dragons were being an issue. Only thing they actively attacked people who weren’t on their territory was the flying boat scene and it was above their stomping grounds and they didn’t even kill the guy who sacrificed himself. Like I believe that Freya would have killed Jorm for simply existing if she could have
@@victory8928bro nidhogg is a literal dragon, it doesnt know how to talk, it just knows to protect yggdrasil and odin user that against her, poor dude
Ragnarok in god of war = kill the important charakters in the north mythos
remember gow 1, 2, 3? well he did the same he killed the gods that is important
This is going to effect the economy
Soundtrack at 1:07
I still don't know why Freya didn't just finish breaking the other runes instead of joining the fight. Kratos was more than capable of soloing Nidhogg. She did not have to die. 😔
Freya is alive tho
@@akki4188 nidhogg
So... Nidhogg, the dragon/serpent that gnaws on the roots of Yggdrasil... The same Nidhogg that devours rapists, backstabbers, and oathbreakers that find themselves too close to Naströnd in Niflheim/Helheim... The ONLY serpent that comes even close to the pure level that Jormundgandr is at... And it gets killed protecting some roots from being untied in this game?
... There's a lot of things that are cool about GoW Rangarök, but this utter dump they've taken on Nidhogg is not one of them...
In all fairness, it was definitely okay after their initial fight. It would have been fine. They only killed it by closing a portal around its neck.
But floaty portal lizard thing is cool
Not everything follows the actual lore. Of course the author would change a few things like how Atreus(Loki) came to be in this one. And other things too Adaptations have always taken liberties when it came to the source materials. No matter how "accurate" its advertised to be. Kratos being in the Norse realm is fine, but Nidhogg protecting the tree instead of eating it bothers you? LOL You little Crybaby k.
I could've swore Mimir said that Odin forced Nidhogg to protect it
@@Azerrz AYYYYE Azerrz fancy Seeing you Here in The comments Section
Does anyone think that Freya might be some kind of love interest to Kratos or should be I mean their moments sure seems like progress Of making chemistry and romance I mean Atreus sure seems to like her i’ve seen moments where she’s like a mother to him so yeah I think so
I litteraly jus fought this dude .. hopefully it grows it’s body back on the other side
The only thing on the other side is her head.
He should be larger than jorgmugndr
Seriously and epic battle, but I actually felt pretty terrible killing her since she was only doing her job.
Skullcrowler and warbat had a baby on steroid
the abbysal bow real care I see it
Would nidhogg just heal instantly if she escaped and then come back for a fight?
What's the axe ability throw the axe flying around?
Soundtrack in 2:22 ?
been looking for it myself. Ill let you know if i find it.
Edit: the name of the song is called "The Hidden Beast" that part plays in the second half
Es el sountrack de Freya buscalo así
Background music?
GOW Nidhogg > DMC5 Nidhogg
Im playing this on game plus but the energy is degrading
Man monster hunter aint got shit on this.
SHUT UP FREYA!
Nidhogg or Hedgehog!!! 💡🤔💡
Greek monsters more terrifying
Why did they do that tho
She literally tried to leave
Why did they still attack
That genuinely pisses me off
She tried to leave yet they still attacked why
Wait wdym?
@@raysreaver7471 nidhogg literally tried to leave yet they stopped her and killed her
Even tho they could have broke the branches with her still around
Freya literally did so to fight
They unnecessarily killed nidhogg
@@SSeryth i didnt play the game nor i know anything about Nord Mythology, but there is explanation in the video why, they need to kill it, just rewatch it
@@SSeryth if you played the game you would know that where ever the roots are she will appear and defend it with her life. Odin used that to his advantage to wrap Freya's curse in the roots hoping the beast to defend it.
If they let it leave because time moves differently where she goes the 2nd it dissappears the beast will come back. Time would have passe and she would be healed and attack immediately again full strength again.
For kratos and Freya that would take moments. For the beast probably weeks.
It would have been a cycle.
Odin with all his planning is banking on that to stop them from attempting to break Freya's curse.
@@siratlas9005 still even if she came back tf would she even do
She knows she’d die and the roots have already been broken
So she’d be wasting her time protecting nothing
If the roots are already broken then what would she be protecting
And second even if time moves differently that doesn’t change shit
They’d be gone and the roots would already be broken before she heals fully
They only took 4 minutes to break the roots
So
Fuckin epic
I can tell right AWAY...that's not..GOD MODE....
Habla
