Kyurem: *Has big fists but can’t learn Ice Punch
Wooper: *Has no arms but can learn Ice Punch
That because wooper is a good boy he has the big rip arms unlike kyruem weak baby Drago
@@dantheman4139 It's fine. Once that good boy continues to be unaware of the danger surrounding it then Kyurem would just ignore its Unaware with Teravolt and obliterate it to dust.
Wooper did stop learning Ice Punch in SV but I do agree.
I assume that wooper uses its tail to use ice punch
@@fishbot9902 no he's whole body is the fist wooper doesn't need arms that how strong wooper is
The difference of Black Kyurem without good stab vs Black Kyurem with stab was insane
Not to mention it being suspect tested a few months after its debut due to those aforementioned flaws. White Kyurem would have met the same fate if it lacked coverage and at least a spammable STAB.

Ultra Necrozma >>>>>>Black Kyruem/White Kyruem .
Sounds like a parallel to Aerodactyl, who unfortunately still lacks either Head Smash or Brave Bird.
Kyurem black is a shining example that even a Pokémon with absurd stats needs good stab moves to be viable in competitive.
Or in more general terms, stats don't matter if you have nothing to abuse it with.
Another good example is Luxray, with it usually having to use Thunderbolt despite having base 120 Attack. Or any Electric-type physical attacker, for that matter. And also any special attacking Rock-types, which have to rely on Power Gem, an 80 bp move.
@@christiancinnabars1402 Doesn't luxray get thunder fang?
@@nicholasaugello2534 Even so it's not as strong as wild charge which alone is a risky move. It's like the situation for flareon where it's strongest physical fire move is fire fang while flare blitz too is a risk for it being it's best move to utilize it's high attack.
@@nicholasaugello2534 a pitiful 65 bp with 95 accuracy on it tho
@@nicholasaugello2534Base 65 is not that strong enough. There’s also Mamoswine in Gen 4 that also lacked a strong physical Ice STAB (Icicle Spear which was base 10, and Ice Fang) but made it up with decent speed, attack, priority Ice Shard, and strong coverage/STAB combo.
It was honestly really bittersweet seeing Black Kyurem leave OU. I kinda like the idea of a box art legendary chilling out in OU
Edit: Zamazenta has arrived in gen 9 OU and I am proud of my shield doggo
zamazenta in gen 9
ZAMAZENTA being UU in Nat Dex be like
Suicune since inception:
@@HylianWindRider Ok fair, Suicine was technically a box art legend, but it's bst was meager compared to Black Kyurem and Zamazenta.
@@radvil yes, but it got banned from UU lmao
The fact that a _box legendary_ was in OU and not Ubers for 3 generations is still wild
Actually it has a higher stat total than most other cover legends (only tied w kyurem white)
He didn’t have a solid physical stab ice move
@@stonalisa3729 Well as all things in the world, many things let to it's decsend into ou. But not having a good move? The most ridicuolos thing i've seen
@@Dispencerhere It lacks coverage HARD
@@Dispencerhere considering that icicle spear was enought to make It to ubers
Yes
This thing really looks like a monster with the gen 5 sprite. Like all that power is almost forcing it onto all fours but it barely stands. And the glow of electricity. Wish we got this level of detail in newer games.
I love it when kyurem slams the ground so hard
There are sad subset of people think the 3D models are better
I dont understand them
@@KenBladehart lol
The 3D models are only really better in isolated instances, like Hoppip looks cuter in 3D (specifically) than in 2D. Maybe Pokémon Snap is what they mean but even then it’s debatable.
Gen 5 fans are the new genwunners.
Kyurem Black is one of the most extreme examples of the Rampardos theorem. Having all the power in the universe, but having a type and movepool that held it back from instant ubers status.
And too slow. If it had 10 more speed, it would be too much for OU even with the bad movepool.
@@BLUEBOYISLEDGE Oh its by no means bad, its just an interesting pokemon, being the only box legend that dipped it's feet in OU.
@@BLUEBOYISLEDGE it's standard should be UBERS, and there's where it's bad
@@BLUEBOYISLEDGE I'm pretty sure its stats are self explanatory, also all box art legends are defaluted to UBERS for a reason. You don't need to defend B-kyurem this much, it's not your fault if it's trash in UBERS
@@BLUEBOYISLEDGE "The absolute state of 1100 ELO players" and then you don't know the difference between an uber and suicune, man I don't even know what you are arguing against
It’s absurd that Gamefreak didn’t give this mon any physical ice moves until Gen 8
I would’ve imagined at least ice shard in Gen 6, maybe ice punch
At least he got it eventually I guess
I didn’t even know he finally got ice stab. Which moves did he get
@@stonalisa3729 Icicle spear. While inconsistent, STAB is still STAB, and is still very strong on a base 170 attack Pokèmon. He got dragon dance in Gen 8 as well so he was pretty guaranteed to go to Ubers
Well to be fair it’s movepool is based off of kyurem base. Kyurem base having ice punch makes no sense since it doesn’t have any arms to punch with. Ice shard tho, it definitely should’ve gotten it
@@mr.krustykrust it could use it's head for punching. It's like how Alakazam can still use iron tail despite losing its tail on evolution
It makes me wonder how it’ll be if it returns in Gen 9. Since Icicle Spear is not a TM. Hoping Game Freak gives it Ice Spinner.
Crazy how all B!Kyurem needed was more STAB physical moves, especially Ice moves, and it would've had a completely different story in competitive.
Ice Punch for all sake would've been enough imo
iirc it also got ddance in the same gen it got banned but physical ice stab would've been amazing
icicle crash CB kyurem black
Should’ve also had Eq, just look at it
I will never understand why GameFreak didn't gave it Earthquake or Icicle Crash. Those are the only two moves it needed and that's it
And seriously, look at it and tell me it can't learn Ice PUNCH, you can't right?
Wooper and Gastly trolling.
@@shadowtitanx3962 Gastly can punch with its tongue. Wooper .... is a different story.
@@IschmarVI wooper IS the fist
Remember how long Beartic didn't had Earthquake?
It only just now learns it in S/V
I love that they wanted to make a physical and special based form for Kyurem... but Kyurem was already a special attacker and didn't add any substantial physical moves to the original's learnset. Classic GF moment
no Earthquake or even Superpower
@@goGothitaLOLWhat’s even sadder is how the box legends (not counting the Legendary Beasts) ALL knew Earthquake. Starting from Gen 5, they distributed it less among the main legendaries. So only Zygarde, Solgaleo and Necrozma know it.
@@goGothitaLOL or Icicle Crash, or ice Shard (which couldve be atleast occasionly usefull for white/base aswell since priority is always good to have), or Night Slash (which fits with its lore from bw1 for base kyurem)
or ice fang/crunch, or dragon rush for hone claws to make use of
@@IgnitedQuils just realized since Gen 6 there are more recent box-legendary with Close Combat (Xerneas, Sogaleo, Zacian, Zamazenta, Koraidon) than they are those with Earthquake
@@zyella277 Having Night Slash would have been crucial for Kyurem-Black in Gen 8 Ubers because of Necrozma-Dusk Mane
Apparently the problem with Kyurem in the movie was that the writers weren't aware of the nature of Kyurem's transformations until way too late into production
On b2 w2 announce I was like awesome we can get a dragon fire, dragon electric Kyurem but nope
lmao
Finally, after all these years.. *were still missing kyurem OG*
How did it feel to get shafted from Smash Bros?
W is for waluigi
@@TheOneTrueGesta Ask your mom how my smash bros shafted her
You mean Amoonguss
I don't see a white kyurem video
This thumbnail made me realize that Kyurem Black's iced and non-iced parts flipped sides at some point.
Oh wow, I never noticed that
It seems to be a thumbnail error, since Kyurem's iced arm is always on its left in official depictions.
The mismatched one looks to be its Pokemon Home iteration, but flipped in an image editor, giving that impression (Pokemon Home has it facing right, for some reason, while other depictions have it face left).
@@christiancinnabars1402 oh dope, thank you for the clarification!
Kyurem-B is going to be amazing if/when it comes back to SV. Loaded Dice solves the problem of unreliable Ice STAB, now it has at worst 100 BP. Terastalization also means it can trade its Ice typing for Electric, turning the bulky Steels that used to wall it like Necrozma-DM into set up fodder (it lost Toxic in SV) and giving it STAB on BoltBeam.
Loaded Dice means it also gets a 100 BP dragon move in scale shot, which also raises its speed.
Icicle Spear was a TM and BK could only learn it as a TM. If Pokemon Home does allow it to transfer moves, it’s definitely going to run Loaded Dice.
@@IgnitedQuils Damn forgot about that. Still it can Tera Ground as Ground / Dragon / Electric has perfect neutral coverage.
@@Quix0tic707Plus terastalizing can get rid of its weaknesses so it could be more imposing
@Chris H Tera Fire is better overall, offensively, still perfect coverage, defensively, it drops the Steel and Fairy weaknesses and turns the match up on its head, simultaneously becoming neutral to Dragon while still having Electric coverage for Water types. I use it on Miraidon, essentially running triple STAB.
The only Pokémon that walls that combo is Mega Altaria, which no longer exists lol. No Dragon/Fairy replacement so far.
I think you could make a fun model set out of Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem.
Being able to take them apart and slot the parts together to make the different forms
I'm no toy designer but I bet you could do it real nice
You could probably do the same with Necrozma, Lunala and Solgaleo as well. Kind of makes me wonder which of the two model sets would be more popular.
@@cicada8981the anime had more of a focus on necrozma, solgaleo and lunala, so I’d assume they would be more popular.
I would honestly feel like the dragons would be more popular just because of the mystery around the original dragon
I had that with a digimon toy as a kid, where you could switch between Dino-beemon and Paildramon
Erm,, yes that's what B2W2 gave Us?? 😄
It wasn't Flamethrower Kyurem used in the movie but actually Dragon Pulse, at least according to Bulbapedia.
I thought it was Dragon Breath
It's really bittersweet, Kyurem-B was the most fun dragon to use in OU in generations 5 to 7. Shame to see it get Dragon Dance and the Ice STAB it wanted, only for it to be godawful in Ubers.
still no Earthquake
What did it cost? Everything
It's kinda wild to me how all three forms of Kyurem have no place in Ubers. Too strong for OU but no valuable niche further up
This is something I did always wonder, why is it a bad thing for a Pokemon to be bad in a more powerful format? Like, an unviable Uber is still more powerful than a good OU. Kyurem-B being in OU kinda shows it is a terrible legendary
@@FraserSouris Having a niche in OU is more fun than just being terrible in Ubers though. Reshiram, an always bad Uber's legacy is basically just "Reshiram was bad that's all" but Kyurem-B was able to get a real competitive history and was fun to use during that history.
It’s so crazy how the addition of just one/two new moves can completely vault a Pokémon into viability and Kyurem-Black is one of the main examples of that
Not giving it Ice Punch is a crime in itself
Finally after literally over a year your back to the legendarys
Also it’s funny how it’s the first and so far only box legendary to not be in Ubers also still disappointed how this thing doesn’t learn ice punch
It banned to ubers tho
@@Crusina later yeah
If it had a good physical ice move it would’ve gone to Ubers. But hey we have Terra blast now so he kind of does. I think he made it for home transfer?
Maybe Zamazenta will join it in Gen 9 (with the nerf to dauntless shield)
I thought it had one in icicle crash
It took three generations, but Kyurem-Black was finally in Ubers in Gen 8, after receiving Dragon Dance and Icicle Spear
You love to see one of your favorite Legendaries rise to become amazing
> Rise to become amazing
> It's C- Ranked in viability in Ubers and had borderline no competitive niche
yeah no, more like it ascended into irrelevancy
@@claudio6391At least White Kyurem didn’t outclass it in rankings. BK outclassed it this time as WK is D rank.
@@IgnitedQuils tbh in the Ubers metagame, fighting for -C or D is basically two 5 year olds fighting about who is better while being on the same team as Lebron James. The Ubers meta game is so centralized around the top threats that even a B rank isn't good. The meta game just doesn't (or I guess didn't because there's a new generation now) suit either kyreum well
@@claudio6391 oh yeah I forgot it was ranked C- 💀
it's banned from the teir where it was actually viable and it's damn near useless in ubers. getting "buffed" was the worst thing that ever happened to it.
If it's added in Gen 9, under snow with an assault vest Kyreum-Black could be so bulky + with Def and SpD investment it could be unstoppable since its attack stat in already so high it doesn't necessarily even need attack investment
I don't want to burat ur bubble but it wouldn't be strong enough.
Chien Pao is a way better immediately threatening offensive ice type.
and Kyurem B without Atk Investment will fall short in this gen.
Power creep was insane.
nah, ice is a bad defensive typing (and tera removes the snow def boost) and av means you don't have recovery, which especially sucks with a rocks weakness. also uninvested kyub without a boosting item really doesn't hit that hard
Just give it loaded dice and call me in the morning
Unless they add some broken legendary with snow warning, I don't think snow will be ever played in UBERS
@@nerdyfalco408 they don’t have to add a broken legendary with snow warning, they just have to add a broken Pokémon with an ability that deals more damage in snow and have them be super fast 😂
I like this choice, Kyurem Black was always a peculiar pokemon in OU, broken in stats and ability but held back by typing, moveset and meta.
Kyurem Black!! If only it had a solid Physical Ice Attack when it released, that really held it back
Uber level Legendary Pokémon in OU are some of my favorite legendaries of all time. Kyurem B, Hoopa U, and Giratina O (which was tested in OU for April Fools one year lol) are some of my favorite examples.
I also love Zamazenta-C for being tested in OU as well
Reshiram should also be tested for OU. Its a weaker chi yu with slightly better coverage. If ou could *almost* handle chi yu, I think its fair giving reshiram a try
But luckily it did not happen because it was too good at 1v1 stuff and its flaws were not that big given his surprisingly good defensive profile. I'm glad Finchinator doens't take the mayor decisions because if he was we would genuinely have a stall meta.
@@CheesyCore Reshiram is also much, much bulkier than the fish, along with having reliable recovery in Roost, and could run Wisp far better than Chi-Yu since it's much bulkier. It'd be too much.
cheesy core Reshiram is a slightly weaker and slower Chi-Yu in exchange for beyond Mew level bulk + survivability and freaking Mold Breaker. It also gets a no-drawback version of Overheat, so...
@@CheesyCore the most reasonable Competitive Pokemon take in the UA-cam comment section:
I love how reshiram is completely outclassed by zekrom yet zekrom's fused form is completely outclassed by reshiram's.
Reshiram and zekrom are completely separate pokemons that have distinctively different roles to fill
@@CheesyCore yes but ı just love the irony of reshiram and kyurem black having the same problem.
My absolute favorite irony out of this whole thing is that Kyurem absorbs Zekrom to become stronger... only to still be weaker than just normal Zekrom.
It's a whole Ginyu bodyswap-type conundrum. Except in this case, instead of Kaioken it's Electric STAB.
@@christiancinnabars1402 well technically it becomes stronger than kyurem when in absorbed zekrom. Nobody said something about becoming stronger than zekrom
Its purely selfish
@@christiancinnabars1402 Damn shame, the kyurem forms should have had abilities which give them free fire and electric stab
17:15 shout-out to Daniel Walker for getting not one, but TWO good placements in VGC with this Pokémon. Forgot that James Baek had a solid placement with Kyurem-B as well lol
Ah yes, a very Pokemon that should learn Ice Punch, but for some reason didn't. While Pokemon with no hands like Gastly and Wooper can learn Ice Punch.
With the release of loaded dice, icicle spear is gonna be insane on kyurem black
I’m sorry, but I can never forgive Kyurem Black for “out-Haxorusing Haxorus”
But can it outpizza the hut?
It’s a Kyurem form. It can’t outpizza the hut
Been waiting for a kyurem video for ages, thank you for making this 🙏🏽 can’t wait for the kyurem white video
Didn't watch until the end yet, although I'm really hyped to see the TR43 being mentioned (it's the TR for Overheat)
Edit: YOOOO IT WAS MENTIONED LET'S GO
ah yes, the face Haxorus sees in it's nightmares
took 10 years but man finally got into ubers
And it's not good up there, sadly
@@RockHoward256At least it surpassed White Kyurem in the viability rankings, but agreed
People won't know the fear of Kyurem black with refrigerate + extreme speed in hackmons...definitely GOATED pokemon
Yay! Kyurem black is in my opinion the best of the fused dragon. Also weird it was in OU, but cool!
Surely when Legends Kyurem and BW3 come around we’re gonna get to see the Original Dragon, right?
…right?
Gen 5 should be our next remake but I think we may get gen 10 before that. The HGSS anniversary is coming up
Or at least a Gen 5 port to switch
@@stonalisa3729 I second this, since we did get a second Kanto remake (Let’s Go) before we got Sinnoh remakes. It wasn’t the FRLG “re-remake” I was expecting at first, but either way it did happen before DP got a remake.
@@bdt2002gaming there will no doubt be another Legends game but I don’t think they count as remakes and more like reimagines. I’m all for them honestly
@@stonalisa3729 If you haven't noticed, every gen is remade at it's 2x generation. Gen 2 is Gold/Silver, which was remade in gen 4, as HGSS. Gen 3, which is RSE, was remade in gen 6 as ORAS. Gen 4, DPP, was remade in gen 8, at BDSP. Gen 1 RBY is the only exception to this, having been remade in gen 3 as FRLG, instead of in gen 2, and again in gen 7, as LGPE. But every remake comes after the debut games for that generation. The way gen 4 released DPP and then remade GS into HGSS, or how gen 6 released XY and then remade RSE into ORAS, or how gen 8 debuted with SwSh and then released BDSP.
So in gen 10, after they release Pokemon Cash Grab and Pokemon Cut Corners, or CgCc, they will announce a remake of Black and White as Pokemon Grey. Not because its thematically Kyurem's game, but because they've sucked all life out of the franchise by that point.
Jokes aside, I would expect gen 10's second major title to be some BW remakes.
Great job again, would love to see Torkoal in the future:)
Moral of the history: If you want to succes in competitive Pokemon, you'll have to pay the dance classes.
How Incompetent was Game Freak’s Balancing Team ACTUALLY?
Seriously though, Ice Punch is too much, but giving Zacian everything and the kitchen sink is ok?
Now we need a history of White Kyurem in competitive.
Been waiting for this!!!
PLEASE do White Kyurem next! It’s my favorite legendary and it deserves love and attention
We all know if my boy kyurem got icicle crash in gen 5 it would be banned
Wow, we’re gonna need separate videos for regular Kyurem and White Kyurem? Holy moly.
Its cool to see an achilles heel where the drawback is not its abillity, great vid!
YES!!!!
HOPEFULLY BASE FORM SOON!
Ahh Black Kyurem.

It can’t learn ice punch.
@@beeorsomething2230 yeah it has hands but he has 0 combat skill

One thing's for sure, Black Kyurem has the coldest box art in the franchise
I'm glad to see one of my favorite pokemons getting on FSG.
Can't wait for White Kyurem's video. Good going FSG!!
I look forward to seeing how Zekrom and Reshiram pair with Miraidon and Koraidon.
And Kyurem, with both.
Reshiram will probably still be garbage in Ubers.
Zekrom & Miraidon are gonna have a field trip with one another
Heres a Suggestion: How Good was Kyurem Normal Actually
One of my favorite legendaries. Love this guy's design and the gen V animations is so badass
What a surprise!
For future projects for this year , i think we should see some of the following:
Bronzong
Rotom forms
Goodra
Escavalier
Heliolisk
The Tapus
Vikavolt
Incineroar
Chestnaught
rotom wash would be an insanely long video
@@iwx4021 wash would be it’s own video honestly
Darmanitan and Excadrill have been done
I think giving it Ice Spinner in gen 9 would be a dream come true for it.
Now you gotta do White Kyurem next of course
With the near removal of scald in gen 9, and the cascade of viability changes that caused, a video about scald would be great. We really didn't appreciate how much it mattered for so many pokemon, and seeing toxapex surf or alomomola liquidate is bizarre, after so many years with scald. In retrospect, it truly had a monumental impact on the entire metagame, akin to u-turn and volt switch, or even stealth rock.
I’ve been waiting for this.
Liked seeing it get Dragon Dance in gen 8, it was sorely needed to buff that awkward speed.
Do how good was gothitelle and conkeldurr actually next please.
Black Kyurem is my absolute favorite pokemon of all time. Thank you for covering him
i love your channel!! do magearna please!✨
Tfw You fall into OU for generations only for becoming Uber after gaining stab and becoming unviable there
Finally a badass Pokémon after all these times
I have been asking for this for awhile
Two ice pokemon in a row?
I looove you false swipe!
But it holds TR43, the TM for overheat!
I am eager for a video on the gen 5 Djinns.
Landorus, Thundurus and Tornadus
For Landorus, be prepared for another feature film
Honestly they should wait until after WK and regular Kyurem are finished.
The Loaded Dice item is going to make this thing go crazy if it ever makes it to that point.
Oh man, this one's going to be awesome and interesting
I was expecting the Kyurem video to include all of the forms, but oh well. It's somewhat bittersweet to see Kyurem Black finally belong in Ubers. On the one hand, it got the TLC needed to actually become an Ubers viable pokemon. On the other hand, it now faced steep competition from better ice types and dragon types once dynamax went bye-bye. Even Zekrom is considered to be somewhat better than it. At least Kyurem Black had its moment in the spotlight for a time.
Kyurem was so diverse competitively it needs 3 videos to cover
I’ve been waiting for this one for ages, Kyurem Black is my fave
19:59 HE SAID IT, HE SAID THE THING
Black Kyurem using its Pokemon Home sprite in this is unexpected.
TLDR: Uber monstrous attack stat held back by mediocre speed and most importantly it's Ice type that has been done dirty by this game for so long
I LOVE THIS POKEMON THANK YOU KEVIN!!!
No one knows how long I have been waiting for this video
Honestly I really liked Kyurem-Black in OU. It was flawed enough to be balanced but was still incredibly fun to use
and now we have Kyurem-Black at home (Baxcalibur), the gen before that we had Giratina-Origin at home (Dragapult)
Koraidon is just "cooler Kommo-o"
Shut up Redditor
Hisuian Goodra is Dialga at home
Black Kyreum after getting access to the weakest physical stab move in existence:
Aight, imma head out of OU.
Yoooo when home is released this thing will go straight to ubers, it's like a mega baxcalibur now with loaded dice icicle spear
funny how a base 170 attack pokémon wasn't uber every generation
but then again, we have someone with 165 attack who is basically unusable in any tier that isn't NU or PU
Shut up
Yes but slaking has a terrible ability that makes it near unusable
@@stonalisa3729I think they were also referring to Rampardos
0:32 actually, that was dragon pulse, even though it looks a lot like flamethrower lol
One of the coolest Pokèmon designs of all time. What an interesting case too, a box legendary that managed to remain balanced in OU. I wonder how it would’ve been in gen 8 if it had icicle spear, but not dragon dance ?
Yoooo finally! Latios next please?
Why doesn’t it have ice punch? Seriously, look at its arms!
Sometimes I think game freak sometimes genuinely just forgets to give pokemon certain moves, like in the keldeo movie when kyrem used flamethrower, I bet the animators and gamefreak just thought kyrem learned the move and didn't even think about it not having it. Like physical ice stab in gens 5-7.
im still pissed Aerodactyl never got head smash or brave bird
I really like your work on these videos, however, will there be a time or series that is focused specifically on VGC content?
The other boxed mon I wish I got when black and white 2 came out
It will again get better in gen9 bcoz loaded dice+icicle spear
Before Gen 8, I found it wild that a legendary Pokemon with a hefty BST of 700 was legalized in OU mainly due to it's lack of physical Ice STAB.
Kyurem-B is so thankful to have Dragon Dance and Icicle Spear when Gen 8 arrived to finally fit in with the Ubers along with it's White counterpart.
Aaaaand it sucks there
You hate to see it
Finally, a serious how good was it actually video.
They did it! They mentioned the TM for overheat!
Wait, is this the only boxart legendary to ever drop to OU in its debut generation? I can't think of any others that did.
Yup, Zygarde dropped to OU too but he isn't a boxart sadly...
I guess Suicune technically counts? Zamazenta was also tested in OU if I remember correctly, but that didn't last.
Zygarde (tho Pokemon Z never exist), back when 100% Zygarde nor Thounsand Arrows didn't exist
Zamacenta-C dropped for a month or so, but luckily it did not last because it was too good at denying frail offense and specially knock off strategies and made semi-stall a bit too good.
Thousand arrows and waves WERE in the game, they were just unobtainable @@goGothitaLOL
