back in hs when i first found tesseract, it was winter, and walking home in the new england snow really made me associate tesseract with the winter lol
this dude started to Tosin that shit... i didn't even know it was thumping that he did 3:12 on. that's so sick. i wish i could afford a Mayones, actually i wish i was good enough to deserve one :p.
oh yea that's the axe FX 2. All my prefered patches are on my ultra but that's stored at the rehearsal room. I record two octaves usually yea then drown in delay/verb :)
Acle Kahney How do you make that very weird rhythm sound that adds this extra sound to the bass basically the tone you have straight from the beginning? I just can't get my finger on what I am hearing.
Tesseract can be heavy sometimes, but they are so calculated with it and they usually spend a while building up to it. A lot of this band is rich in contrasting elements, so only being heavy wouldn't really fit.
All he is doing is thumping the string with his thumb instead of picking. It adds a punch to the tone and sounds hella funky. It's really easy to learn!
Reason I ask is because that clean tone is superb and I would love to use that tone but I'm hoping it's mostly the pickups because I don't got the money to drop for an Axe-fx and all of their gear
+Augtivism The pickups are definetely important in terms of clarity and definition, but for all the other stuff you'll need an Axe FX or similar... I have a Line 6 Pod HD500 which is alot cheaper and you can get a similar sound for sure.
+Augtivism For that sound you'll need two pitchshifters which are set to a shift of +1 octave and -1 oktave and of course some delay and reverb for the ambience.
+Augtivism Just to chime in - I never use an octave effect. I always track a low octave and high octave of the same clean part when recording...pitch shifting for this kind of thing just sounds shit unless you use a 12 string guitar! The pickup isn't really important for the clean sound...just model a fender clean style amp and turn the cab sim off....or better yet use a piezo pickup!
hello , my name is RJr and would like to know about the pitch of the guitar and the effect used in the clean guitar ... if only delay and reverb .... haha ... thanks
Can the guys at Mayones do a video, with some history of the company? I personally own a, what should be the prototype of the Setius models, 'ZAK Guitar' which by the looks of it, does look almost identical to the Setius models. The guitar is of Mayones quality, with amazing playability, great looks, exotic woods, Schaller hardware. Was the Zak Guitars predecessors of the new Mayones guitar? I believe the guitar was purchased at a big Mayones dealer here in Denmark(4Sound). Can someone confirm this information? (If you wish to see pictures, or video please reply. I can send pictures on Instagram - and record video, to post on UA-cam)
yup, Zak guitars were made by Mayones in the 90s - it was their export brand from what I've heard. They also have/had another brand, Flame (pretty much straight copies of Strats, LPs and all the usual shapes).
A bit late but I don't think this guitar has a Piezo installed. Its the coil split neck pickup combined with (very important) the omission of a cabinet/IR. Add a huge reverb and an octaver and you'll get somewhere close.
@@TheVashnessItself99 I know but I'm curious how he handles the tension. I have a 26.5" 6 string Ibanez, 59-13 strings on them, and I can't tune lower than A# drop +40 cent, because of the tension. But he has a 26,5" 7 string guitar and he can get A drop, without any problem. So... How? My strings get too loose, below A# drop +40 cent.
@@galigapiya well that's a 27" scale you're seeing here so that plays a part, and yeah you'll probably need to go into the 60's for that low string, Olly Steele uses a 62-64
@@TheVashnessItself99 As far as I know, One album is recorded with 26,5 Ibanez. And the tuning was generally G or G#. So this is beyond my understanding :D And also, above 60 is too tight and "dead sounding" to me. So this is a dilemma for me and... I don't know. Just leave me be, lol
26.5 is a general standard for 7's. Past that would be considered baritone for them. I think TesseracT likes using 27" scale guitars, so this one might be.
baritone refers to the pitch of tone between bass and tenor. Which basically means in layman's terms that it has a more bass-y tone than your average standard instrument, it was built specifically with longer dimensions to provide a bass-ier tone. Baritone doesn't refer to tuning as you can still have a normal guitar in drop A, Drop G# and so on and it still wouldn't be a baritone. You can't get a normal saxophone and play in baritone, you need a baritone saxophone lol
Anything with a scale length of 27" or longer in the guitar world is considered baritone and is specifically built for playing in keys between F# and C
He actually writes pretty much most of their material Not every guitarist is tosin abasi or John patrucci it's all opinion in fact acle is one of my favorite musicians ever
+andre funk ...i kicked a football over a house when I was 8....I was then bored of football. I started learning guitar when I was 9 and by the time I was 18 I realised everyone was meedling and noodling to fuck, it's so overrated. I find it boring. Composition/production is way more interesting and fun.
A Browne play-through one week, and then Acle the next? Mayones, you're spoiling me!
2:19 I can't possibly be the only one that thinks this clean tone is like walking through a snowy plain!
After two years, totally man, that tone its very "snowy" and Tesseract do it in several song , very "cristallish" too xD
back in hs when i first found tesseract, it was winter, and walking home in the new england snow really made me associate tesseract with the winter lol
tfw the top is ash but your singer isn't
this comment is 2 reel can't deel
This is what happened to him, he never completely parted ways with the band.
Holy shit, you fuckin win haha.
Yeah, this is a good comment. *Hat tip*
Amazing
That slap part always gets me
Same af.
Ash top, is the next guitar going to have a Dan top?
Badum tss
I see what you did there...
+Robert Oh I love people like you.
+Robert Mother of puns...
That opening theme on all these vids you've had lately is awesome.
It's Lines by Tripture. Pretty good song in itself.
The way it breaks into the groove at 1:02....it's like everything comes together out of nowhere.
2:19 sweet glassy sound man
Pure eargasm.
I've listened to this song like 100 times or so. After watching this, I have a different feel for it. Nice work.
From 3:40 to 4:20 is funky smooth. Love it!
Imo most of Tesseract’s releases is among the most well written music.
And definitely the best composed and engineered sound I heard.
i have not ever heard that effect before. its a very unique sound for djent. very cool
god i love their clean tones
Had the first part correct, but always wondered the fretboard position for the lick starting at 50 seconds... This is great!
Tesseract will always be unique with their sound
Great playing, great sound, great Band, great guitar!
That tone!
Duuuuuude
Oh this one is in 4/4 LOL -- Great song!!!! Love the guitar playing! -- Keep rockin! - Sincerely, Rob
How can a regular person get that TesseracT logo on the fretboard? I love it
become a part of TesseracT of course!!
This is just marvelous!
Ahh jeez, this is lovely
Awesome!
Somehow, this reminds me a little of the soundtrack to the Golden Sun games... Awesome work!
How the fuck do you write this
That was just brilliant! \m/
Man I just wanna smoke a blunt with Acle and listen to him talk about composing for a few hours
this is just how One was recorded
awesome...
this is straight up fuckin awesome
that clean bit from 0:49 reminds me of RHCP
Hooooooooly shit 3:12
+Hunter Costello lol

he's not thumping, he's basically doing bass slap. evan brewer started tosin on thumping
Octavian Malcolm yeah, this was 5 years ago, Mr. Octavian.
@@trapOrdoom I know hahaha
But, man, I want to see that Setius model that he's got.
Okay but that lead tone in the beginning, Acle, HOW? That sounded awesome. I assume it's just an octave up with a Dry:Wet ratio of around 55:45?
oh yea that's the axe FX 2. All my prefered patches are on my ultra but that's stored at the rehearsal room.
I record two octaves usually yea then drown in delay/verb :)
Nice, I never would have thought of that. Only really use the octaver trick for cleans, right now.

THAT BASSLINE
whats the song in the intro of this video ?
everyone wants to know that haha.

What technique is he using around 3:13? Is that the same kind of thumping thing that tosin abasi does?
Slapahdabass technique :)

Hey Acle nice guitar man! Wondering what you have across your headstock? looks like some sort of a thingy?
Do you use some specific, seperated and buyable effects? Like Boss Harmonist? Its sounds like that, and sounds impresive!

how to get that tone? which amp are you using? Always accompany your job really like that style

thank you very much for the information. I love these sounds. Andrew Condon InfamousPillarKid

coil split neck pickup
Jimmy Silvers do you know what pickup? maybe blackhawks
PowersOfTen They are.
anyone know the tuning?

Why is it a Regius 7 "Baritone"? Aren't 7-strings already in the baritone range?
Baritone scale. Technically baritone refers to the tuning but usually when someone says baritone it refers to the scale length of the guitar.
26.5 is a general standard for 7's. Past that would be considered baritone for them. I think TesseracT likes using 27" scale guitars, so this one might be.

Klemperer for this but I usually use my axe fx ultra/2. I used the keeper for Eclipse on Altered State, everything els was the ultra pretty much.
